Knicks · What's the new 9 man rotation ? (page 1)

Alpha1971 @ 9/30/2024 5:17 PM
Post KAT trade, Brunson, Bridges, OG, Precious, Kat. Bench Hart, Deuce, Simms, Landry ? Payne, Kolek, Diop, situational ? The rookies get some burn after some G league time. That SG we drafted in the second round, Kevin McCuller, seems a bit like Quentin Grimes to me 3 and D player
ToddTT @ 9/30/2024 5:42 PM
Shiiiiiit. We should probably wait until opening night so we know the roster.

KAT, Precious, OG, Bridges, Brunson with Hart, Deuce, Landry, Mitch/Sims as bench four.

Once Mitch is healthy I switch to Mitch, KAT, OG, Bridges, Brunson with Hart, Deuce, Landry and Precious as the bench four.

I would not start Hart and keep him with Deuce off the bench for that hustle/scrappiness we will need.

I'd say Landry is the situational player if Mitch comes back. Deuce and Landry's skillets overlap a lot, with Deuce being the better player. Payne, and hopefully Kolek at some point, can actually run an offense. I think they get the leftover minutes.

Well as of 9/30. Talk of trading Mitch for another wing ? That could change things further. Herb Jones Jr for Mitch is a rumor. Man that would be sweet. Mitch seems to be gone. If so imagine it will be Simms and Deuce who remain or will Deuce be shipped out and Simms the back up center. Just hope they do it quick.

Alpha1971 @ 9/30/2024 8:36 PM
We could have drafted Herb Jones instead of Rokas but imagine getting Jones now. Maybe Rokas could be brought over next year. Brunson, Bridges Jones, OG and Kat would be five snipers and three solid defenders around Towns and Brunson. Bench of Hart, Precious, Deuce, Shamet with Kolek, Payne, Simms, Toppin, Hakporti as situational would be champagne and oysters for Thibs

Jalen, Hart, Mikal, OG, KAT, Deuce, Kolek, Sims, Shamet

I think Paine is undervalued by yall. I think he's going to get burn.

Totally agree. Payne and Deuce make a pretty solid backcourt in the second unit.

Mitch playing 48 minutes?

Maybe he has gotten all the injuries out of his system!

EwingsGlass @ 10/1/2024 11:31 PM
This is approaching my perfect starting lineup. Not just like for the Knicks. Like best possible combination. JJJ (hammy) would be pretty much a perfect lineup. I don’t think that’s plausible at this point. But we can work with what we have. Dadiet is really intriguing cause I could see him slotting at SF for now, but if he keeps growing and adds muscle, he might make a good stretch 4. As it is, I’d expect him to run with the second unit. I would need to see real development from Achiuwa to leave him at PF, but it’s possible. I think they actually run Hart instead of Achiuwa, but I like the idea of a developed Achiuwa better.

Brunson / Payne
Bridges / Deuce
OG / Hart
Achiuwa / Dadiet
KAT / Robinson

My shortlist of trade targets include:

1) Herb Jones or Trey Murphy (3&Ds)
2) Tari Eason (hustle leader and potential 6MoY)
3) Trey Lyles (stretch 4)
4) Walker Kessler (Robinson but younger)
5) Always watching for JJJ. (DPOY from PF slot with positional size)

There are others, but this roster is pretty damn good looking.

No, Towns will play minutes at the 5 as well as Precious on occasion.

Like the idea of an athletic PF that can also cover bigger PFs.
Really starting to believe that when they leak out rumors, they will come true.
So feel that Mitch is gone.

Blkexec may have a heart attack but …..
Do you start Deuce or Hart?

Also think Kolek seems like a perfect backup PG

I figured. I just couldn’t resist the urge to be a wise-ass.

My opinion on Kolek is that he has HUGE upside. Like Steve Nash level upside. But that he will take time to adjust to the NBA. Won’t look too much into summer league but his +/- were pretty horrific. Want to see him adjusting to the speed of the NBA and staying in front of his man on defense. I think that Austin Rivers is to IQ what Cam Payne is to Kolek. Gotta earn those minutes first.

I think Deuce is wasted in the first unit. Hart is a perfect fit if you want to put another SG there. They might. But my preference is to run Bridges and OG at SG and SF, respectively to put pressure on teams that lack positional size. Until they find a fifth starter with positional size that can shoot, I think you see one of Hart, Achiuwa or Robinson in the starting lineup. A second unit with all three of those is flaccid.

Hart is my best guess (not necessarily my best choice) because he replaces a tremendous amount of what Randle brought. Playoff Hart got hot and shot 40+ percent from three. Streaky shooter. Not predicting that by any means. But the Randle/Dray comparisons I use can apply to Hart. And he will naturally run in a motion offense aka Wildcat.

So I think Deuce is your 6MOY attempt.

Now that they solved Duane Washington and Partizan, my percentage chance of trading Mitch now has decreased. Knicks can go back to a position of strength. Money is tight, but they can wait it out a bit. Until that Partizan buyout, they were risking a deal falling a part without moving another player.

He may be gone. But there is no gun to their heads.

Kolek has next level feel and vision. Think sooner rather than later will be his future.
Would not put too much into +/- in summer league as he will do best surrounded by high level players.

Hart is Thibs favorite. So Regardless of if he starts, which I think he absolutely will, Thibs will play him 48.

Looking to see how KAT fills a role. He has potential to be a three level scorer. He is big enough to be an excellent offensive rebounder in a spread. He also has the body to back smaller bigs down.

The other thing to look for is how we match up against bigger lineups. But that may be more like how they find a way to match up against us.

Depth was definitely hurt when losing Divo but feel we have guys that can step up.

I don't mind this either
I really like Hart in that 6MOY role. Achiuwa starting can focus to cover up Towns on defense.

And don't underestimate Precious, he showed out for us the whole month of February

Chandler @ 10/2/2024 8:35 AM
It’s not who starts but who finishes. KAT at 5 in close game is a huge upgrade over Mitch and his FTs

Mitch you need to improve your FTs or you’re riding pine
