Leon panicked last summer, I think that's clear now. If we waited 1 more year to start making deals we would have had so many more possibilities for the roster and the assets to lure them away. Instead we paid Utah Jazz prices to add Bridges with our remaining picks.

"Jazz prices"..on the money.
Damn so much for Jazz prices. They were asking for Peanuts for Colin Sexton and had to give a few walnuts in the process

Ahhh, Jazz lose next year's pick if it falls out of the top 8. Trade is making a little more sense.

Nah, that’s just not understanding the circumstance and that’s on you

Guys going through the archives now! Will be interesting to see how bad this is.
I get the 'fine line' aspect of it, but never saw the issue with betting on your team to WIN, ala Pete Rose.
What player would the Knicks decide to use the TMLE on and go over the second apron for ? Would Ty Jerome for the bill ? For me Prince and Jerome would be a dream off season.

My understanding, and I could be wrong on this, is that you can’t go over the second apron when using that exception cause it caps you there.
You can stack vet mins and resign Precious and go over the second apron all you want.
I think things that cap you at a particular apron make sure you don’t go over it.
Finney Smith opts out and Lebron opts in, but Rich Paul makes some quotes about Lebron winning a title.
Smoke?

Will be interesting if we even use the TMLE.
League in general thru last year has completely ignored the TMLE -- only Denver has used in last 5+ years I believe and they did it only 2 times with piss poor results. Used on R Jackson and D Saric.
In combination with CAPPING you at the 2nd apron I think it's the 2 year part of the deal that teams are more and more afraid of because they want to retain as much flexibility as possible and guys you are signing at that level are typically MEH.
If Knicks were going to use it I think we've heard the names they might choose -- though with all of the roster machinations going on maybe someone else pops free they like.
I really think we need good ball handlers who can also pass and make some jump shots BUT it's possible a guy like Al Horford with his resume, locker room presence and front court versatility could be best use of TMLE even at what 39?
I also like Tyus Jones to reduce Jalen minutes, someone who values the ball, can make a 3 and potentially play some minutes next to Jalen in a smaller backcourt.
Luke Kennard is another.
Unfortunately neither Jones or Kennard help defensively - Horford still might vs some matchups.
Another guy that maybe price drops on is C Capela -- I might like him more than Al because Clint can be a complete pest on offensive boards.

Man that is a bad look if you are going to be under investigation going back a few years.
Portland buying out Ayton. Wow. I guess no trade value

Now make the Mark Bryant hiring make sense
Can we sign this guy to start at the 5? With our cap situation, he could really help.
Brings flexability and we B better than the Lakers.
Lakers can pay Ayton 15mm with Finney-Smith opting out. Do a one year and restore his career at age 27. Lebron retires at years end means more money for him potential. Also There is more FA funds for next year.
Randle: Its a good deal for him and Wolves. Let's not forget as much as we loved Jules and the best version of DDV engrained in our minds, he could not go two playoff series as he kept breaking.
As much as we get on KAT, we went to conf. finals, he was 2nd in NBA in rebounding and 12th in scoring at 24pts per. DDV played 62 games avg 25min and had a nice 3pt shooting year. Less attempts but good %.
Kat played 72 games. OG avg 18pts vs. Jules 18.7. Randle defense vs. OG? If your not in love with OG's defense your not paying attention.

Right. TPMLE needs to be 2 years, means you don't get bird rights too, so the weird iHart scenario comes up.
Indiana was crazy close to signing Ayton and then probably trading away Turner. Could have completely changed their fortunes. Ayton plays like a guy who doesn't like basketball. It has gotten worse rather than better now after his big payday. Let the Lakers get him.
Someone who I think could be a good value signing is Day'Ron Sharpe. Thibs would have loved him because he crashes boards.

Interesting that there is no waiting period on Julius extension - he can be traded immediately without any 6-month holding window.
