Viewership may be down, but revenue is up. This is part of it.

Irving has always been a model player. Get out of here with that bull narrative

Except for the NBA cup final which does not count for standings, OKC with iHart in the line ups they are 19-1.
Caruso has played 20 games thus far.

They get him back in swing, adn perhaps Chet at some point they are serious. Presti has this team coming in waves at teams. Thru the draft mind you.
and they have a serious treasure trove of picks. We played them well until the last 5 minutes. It was a good game. They're a very serious young team.

Knicksfan @ 1/9/2025 12:15 AM
Everyone keeps discrediting them because their rise has kind off come out of nowhere, but they have been record-wise the best team in the league, constantly putting down contenders. They headed into the “historic” showdown as the unsaid underdogs because everyone thinks OKC is the best team in the league and they come from the West.

Well, they don’t seem to care about any of that. They just beat the hottest team in the West in a convincing dogfight but did it their way and add a new high in their astonishing season. OKC is still one of the teams to beat and a true contender no matter how healthy they are, but wow, this Cleveland Cavaliers team is on a very special run and nobody seems to really know how to stop them. Kudos to them!

Jimmy Butler is going the James Harden route and try to force his way off a team. The stories from 2 years ago about Harden and Philly we can now substitute Butler and Miami.

"We've seen this movie before".....

The actors are improved, and there is a new directer. There might be a different ending to the updated "directors cut".

We think we bring MitchRob out and Cleveland gonna just fold like two years ago?
Nalod noted that if you look at the splits from last year, when Mobley was playing center he was vastly improved. Issue was Allen was out and injured for playoffs.
All teams fold with injuries to major players. We will also.
If not, if we meet them it will be a war. But, got pieces thru draft and made some nice trades so their depth is in place now.
WE are a year way.

What Atkinson and Bryant bring was a far better usage of Garland than previous seasons. Do they make a deal with Miami for Jimmy and move Garland out?
Doubt it, but they can make a big trade still. We can't.
If the team has to rely on a 6-3 guard to carry them, they most likely won't win a chip if its your best player. Thats Donovan Mitchell. Thats what Doris Burke said to much chagrin of many about Brunson. Its mostly holds up. Not much history of small guards being able to do it. But they have two really good small guys. And your sleeping on mobley if you think he the same as two years ago. He is better.

Players 6'3 or smaller........
Small Guard MVP's? Cousey, Iverson, Nash (2), Curry (2).
Finals MVP? Jo Jo White, Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, Tony Parker, Steph Curry.

Finals MVP was first given in 1969. (Cousy is retired by then)
Note only curry makes both lists. Only former Small guards to win MVP Cousy and Iverson took team to finals. Only curry carried for MVP season and MVP finals.
JoJo White was really good player, HOF in fact, but it was Cowens that won regular season MVP, and was top 5 for 4 years (including 1976)

Not discounting the greatness of the small guard. Few teams if any can win a chip without great guard play and they can have great series/playoffs no doubt. Its just the combo of MVP and finals MVP that defines dominance. Perhaps if Iverson had more talent he'd be on that small list with Curry. Nash and the Suns had the bad luck of having Spurs and Lakers in the west in their prime. Tim Duncan and Robinson carried the great spurs teams. Parker had a great playoff run no doubt. Tony Parker had 7 seasons he got MVP votes, with his high.

I love Brunson, but if he was our best player we had upside ceiling. He was 5th in MVP voting. He was magnificent. But he could not carry us thru Indy. He broke.
Literally.
So what does Leon do? Gets KAT who is our best player. Our bench is our weakness. We knew this before the season started. Every pundit said it.
It either improves drastically, or we make some deals, or get lucky via waiver wire.

We are a very good team, and if you feast on the weak and do a bit better than .500 vs. playoff teams your about where we are.

I agree, its nuts. But how does this happen? They need to move Beal off the payroll? He makes 160mm over next three years.
What can PHX give Miami to take that? That only exasperates the Beal trade and make things harder going forward.
or, do you move Booker?

Salaries are even. So this is where Miami builds with Booker.
What depth can Miami give PHX to now incentivize them. PHX now sends its dead weight players for Miami's low salary value.
Now it makes sense.

Beal
Butler
Durant

Three of the most empowered players in this generation. Only missing Lebron.
Will it work? It will be the other players that might it so. Low probability but its their own shot. Go even more insane!
Isiah doubles down. It what an orthodox starphucher does.

Perk won't tell you how Jimmy gets to PHX, but Nalod will.

This is what comes with Jimmy. The second he is not getting the money he wants he will burn the house down to make sure he goes to a team that will give it to him. Since he was once homeless I can't say I blame him. Hedoes not play with his money.

Your attitude is very atypical. Most sports fans don't like the commissioner of sports league. They always boo Manford, Bettman and Goodell at any chance they get.

Knicks/Thunder was on NBATV. Only ABC shows games via terrestrial broadcast. New broadcast deal likely doe not fix having more free games but not sure its that much less. League pass is like $120 for the whole season. Its a bargain compared to NFL.
Just because a X/Tweet says it does not make it totally correct.
Perhaps the answer lies in how does the league make lineups flexible? They do make changes as the season progresses.

Now, for those who have a league pass, did anyone here watch Thunder/Celtics? Or Wemby vs. Jokic? I did not. im not watching all 82 knick games let alone watch Denver vs. SAS.

BTW, all league sports are showing increase in revenue and decreasing viewership given traditional analytics. The key is streaming viewership is way up.
Team values continue to increase based on this trend.
The empty suite knows what's up. If one digs around the internet one might find surveys demonstrating silver is about the most respected of the "deplorable" heads of pro leagues. But we are all entitled to our opinions. surveys are not absolute either.
