The "Klay has lost a step on defense " was a common theme for the past few years despite Wiggins falling off a cliff and Poole having to be traded because Draymond decided punching him was the easiest way to get a new contract. Klay is the second best player in franchise history and left at 33 because of the poor decisions the front office made. I wouldn't feel the love if I was him too.

He said he now plays with "Love" that was missing. Again my point was he got caught up in his own demise an now that he has a deal and a starting job im projecting he feels validated and thus can play for "love".
Im calling bullshit.

Made "scapegoat"? No, he underperformed until he got off the bench and got his shit together. I get the ego thing. Its not easy to let some things go. He was the man for years. He was paid like it. He missed a lot of time and its quite the accomplishment to have returned to the level he did.
Playing for love is playing for the fans and the team. Loyalty was shown to him by both upholding a contract and he was given every opportunity given his stature.
Im ok with him moving on doing the fresh start and new challenges thing but don't bullshit the fans with that psychobabble word salad. GSW had salary constraints in this CBA era and could not pay him what he wanted. Maybe they simply did not want to.
Age matters.

Knicks traded Clyde because he too wanted to be paid as he should but his knees were giving out. It proved correct. Sad as it was but having him and Earl was not logical anymore and Earl was healthier. Clyde was not ready to retire.

Ewing had his issue also and wanted out. Great players have great egos. Its part of what drives them.

Lets see how Klay holds up and his minutes get sorted with Kyrie and Luka. Interesting team for sure. I hope Klay's love gets him at or near his career avg cuz if its way below and his defense lacks, or can't penetrate he gonna be the "Scapegoat" again.

If it wasn't for the IHart situation and needing to save money. Might of been our pick.

Eh, I'll wait for the season before I form an opinion. He's streaky. Remember early last season in college when he started out hot from three and everyone was saying he's lottery pick? I will say the skies the limit for him if the three stays legit.

De'Aaron Fox will bypass a three-year, $165 million maximum extension with the Sacramento Kings as he could sign a larger deal during the 2025 offseason. Fox can be a free agent as early as 2026.

Fox could sign a four-year, $229 million maximum extension with the Kings during the 2025 offseason. If Fox were to make an All-NBA team this season, he could sign for as much as $345 million over five years on a supermax.

God we are so lucky to have Brunson

Fox is a hell of a player but he in the Trae Young area where they are good, but not franchise good? Dejaunte Murray was getting close to this level but pulled back.
Brunson will get his longer term and perhaps we can give Fox the benefit of the doubt that he go for length than max money?
My take is not everyone has an uncle Thibs or Leon to lay out a vision and your really trust them to see it thru!
Im sure Brunson wanted to know how long Leon was planning on sticking around and if Thibs was getting more years. In a sense Rick might be making a really nice salary? Less after tax money to give to dad!! LOL

The contract that seems problematic is Jamal Murry who has not looked good for some time. Damned if you and if not. Porter is a one way player and Murry is hurt a lot. Aaron Gordan was a great fit but they are tapped out. Murry and Porter are not trade value deals easily moved. They go a chip, but rebuilding around Jokic will not be easy.

This is where Utah swoops in and grabs Jokic for a kings ransom and Denver rebuilds?
Rockets can swing a deal also. That does not solve the Murray/Porter issue but this is where ATL usually does something stupid.

gradyandrew @ 10/17/2024 12:15 AM
I can't imagine Denver ever thinking about trading Jokic unless he wants out. The thing is that Murray- Jokic connection is special. Those guys have got some esp going on. Murray shot 42% on 3s last regular season before falling off in the playoffs. Porter played a career high 81 games.

The team I'm looking at is Miami. They had a really quiet offseason and Riley has publicly criticized Butler and Herro at different times. Their draft pick is lottery protected. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to blow up the team and do a quick rebuild around Bam.

Also, PG is already injured and espn had this:

after playing in just 433 of a possible 637 games across the past eight seasons -- not counting the first two years of his career that were lost to foot injuries -- Embiid's days of playing back-to-backs appear to be over.

"If I had to guess," Embiid said, "I would probably never play back-to-backs the rest of my career."

"We're going to be smart about it," Morey said. "Part of being smart about it is having both Paul and Joel probably not play many back to backs, if any."

Philly has 10 back-to- back sets over the season, which seems like a significant amount. Playoff basketball is way different than regular season, but grabbing that top seed and getting easier matchups is huge in terms of advancing. With a significant number of teams in the East with lottery protected picks, Washington, Detroit, Miami, Charlotte, and Chicago. and only 4 teams with the potential to be regular season juggernauts, Boston, New York, Milwaukee, and Cleveland, the Knicks hopefully can land a top seeding.

I watched this game. Randle looks exactly the same as a player as he did on the Knicks except he was way more efficient and less of a ball stopper. He even moved around on offense relocating and making an effort to find space. He still draws a double team and will exploit any mismatch.

They played him a lot at center as a stretch 5. Randle and the defense were terrible in those minutes. They gave up 125 points and lost to the Chicago Bulls with both teams playing their starters

Nalod @ 10/17/2024 8:45 AM
Another reason for the trade is Ant is 23 with 4 babies with 4 women. Randle married with two kids. His new role is to talk to ant about birth control and how the reproductive system works.

I would think between McDaniel at 6-10, Rudy, Naz Reid and Garza they don't need Randle at the 5.
Preseason is wonky.

Randle with the short hair cut and rocking the Ewing T-shirt look which might be hiding tape or topical rubs for that shoulder. Keep it warm also.

For what it's worth, OKC would have had me at "We'll pay more in 2 years than you can get in 3 years with the Knicks."

Yeah, Philly looks like they may be in bad shape and seemed primed to take a step back from last year. The season hasn't even started and 2/3 of their big 3 are already banged up. Nick Nurse is a good coach and should get them to the playoffs, but I wouldn't feel good about these guys being healthy at the right time.
