First Embiid now Maxey?
Yep, Philly is officially in tank mode.

LeVert is the knick killer. Glad the Cavs shipped him. Eventhough Hunter seems like a better option, we will see in the playoffs. LeVert is that guy. Seems to have that clutch gene.
Think Hunter has been the bigger Knick killer
Good to seee Kevin Knox getting some play in the Warriors system. I assume when Kuminga returns he might lose those minutes.
DDV did good absorbing what he needed from Curry regarding his shooting and tripled his salary and got a 4 year contract.
Good systems produce good player from eh scrap heap. Hope this is what we are doing as well. Most miss but a few rough diamonds are well worth it!
I am ungodly baffled why anyone would trade for Beal.
His last years in WAS games played: 57, 60, 40, 50 (29yo).
His remaining contract before moving to PHO: $47M, $50M, $53M, $57M Player Option.
Spacing at the 3point line: 35%, 35%, 30%, 37%. Generally not a spacer.
No Trade Clause. Not a defender.

He’s just a name at this point.
Julius back to doing Julius things.
Boston has 6 current and former All stars on their team, 4 guys who have been voted top 10 defensive player of the year, 1 guy who has been on top 10 MVP list, and 2 guys that will be super max.
Anyone who suggests that Thibs wins only because of the talent on the team should check out Joe Mazzula. He was *handed* a team that had gone to the finals the year before he got there.
And they are only a couple games ahead of the Knicks in standings? Joe Mazzula may not be the ceiling type coach that he is made out to be.
I'd love to see him coach a Randle lead team with Elfrid, young RJ, Noel, Bullocks to a 4th seed.

Stevens built a team that can nearly always put 5 players on the floor that can shoot the 3 with an inch of space and switch onto anyone defensively. Beyond that that they have one of the 5 most talented players in Tatum and one of the 15-30 most talented players in Brown.
I do think Mazzula is an interesting coach and the right one they needed to play out the vision that they were built for. Not saying Udoka wasn't, but Mazzulla willing to let them take 40-5 3s a game.

Pretty much anyone that can hit an open 3 been a Knick killer.

How is that possible when we have the best GM in Leon who’s done a great job with this roster and one of the best defensive coaches in the nba with tons of experience. Are we holding Thibs too high on what he brings as far as defense? I mean our defensive scheme have been questionable for a while now.
But yes you are correct. Doesn’t matter the name of the player. Doesn’t have to be a superstar, which is crazy. What kind of championship defense allows anybody to go off?

How is it that you can't or don't recognize that having zero rim protector players and 2 very bad defenders in KAT and Brunson would lead to having a not good defense?
It's kinda obvious, right? Some of these things should be pretty obvious?
What coach can have a stout team defense without a PF/C being very good to cover up for Brunson? And vice versa with KAT.
Look I think some of it is strategic too - Thibs wants to limit 3's taken, but there's some guys that we're gonna be ok with taking 3s. And when they make them and we lose, we're always like oh wow, Gabe fucking Vincent keeps killing us. But actually more of then not over 5 years guys do miss and we've actually had a top defense.
This year we have a completely different roster construction and the old methods don't seem to work. Did you guys noticed how much more often we switched last night and how KAT played way better D when on the perimeter vs. falling back in drop where he never seems to be positioned right to deter anyone at the rim?

Did notice, but way better still equaled bad. KAT isn't moving the same as he did earlier in the year

Noticed it too. He's getting beat to rebounds and isn't driving to the hoop with the same quickness. It is what it is.

Yea, that knee is a problem. Instead of letting it heal he will play through it and still be hurt when the playofs come.
Play making and shot creation is so important. I wish we valued it more.
Good as were were last year at full health it was a smallish sample and I din't believe we beat Boston.
Have to add that if we get full health, KP in Boston gets that too.
But it could have been fun and my assessment is not 100%. Its just an opinion.
This year we thought were were better than that. And on paper its cool, but we are not.
Im can't say one of Bridges is the issue, or chemistry, or depth, or injuries but its apparent we are a very good team, just not in the top echelon of contention at the moment.
Kudo's to Brad Stevens for evolving that team over time. Derrik white was a stroke of genius and makes one wonder what SAS was thinking? Its that Context thing again. They gutted the franchise and starting very and did not want to pay him given the timeline. White is a glue guy that gets it done perhaps more so not as an iso but ensemble type. Thus he feeds off or continues the chemistry.
Back to knicks......OG and Brunson are good like this. Mikal on PHX vs. BKN and now here with higher expectations and the 5 pick over his head gives fans pause to question. Not unreasonable but its kind of still early. Josh prior to the Allstar voting tally was considered for a spot. He was peak Josh! Perhaps with his knee issue and coming up to 30 the balls to the wall version of him might need less minutes. While his defense is good, as is Mikal and OG, its not aggregating enough to over come the lack of rim protection. Our offense is great and we do win more than not! Lets not freak out.
But we do.
We slam Kat for not boxing out but he is 2nd in rebounding. His defense is lacking. With Huk and perhaps Mitch we get better here. Were is the elite outside shooting center and passing demon we saw early on? The finger is part of it maybe, and opponents are taking things away from him. They are playing him up and he is driving more as he should. I think fans underestimate opponents defense that while its nice to impose ones will, this is the NBA and defense give. Question is then execution.
