Knicks · Giannis out of Milwaukee? (page 1)
only logical is the "Rival teams say KAT is the......"
That is possible, but improbable in my opinion.
is Giannis really asking out or is Milwaukee waking up that its starphuch is not gonna work and will sell Giannis to restock the cupboard it used to keep him surrounded in talent? Same for Lillard after just one season?
Only thing left for Doc Rivers to do if they dismantle is work out a buy out and resign. Him staying to rebuild is not what he signed up for and he kind of not getting the job done. I don't know what's going on besides Middleton not playing yet and Giannis is a bit banged up.
Is there a world were Embiid is bitter and wants out also? Thats convenient bullshit I just made up but someone will blog it for bait.
No doubt Giannis has been the better player than KAT. The real question is for the next 3-4 years who will age better and skill set compliment what we got?
They will be a good team, just not a real contender one in my opinion. The Lillard trade was a big mistake and Giannis can't do it alone.
I’ll take crazy eyes Bobby Portis for 12.5M Gene
Portis’s contract lines up perfectly with Mitch’s
Milwaukee messed up with the Jrue Holiday trade for Dame. StarPhuck territory and now they phucked.

Sold! He can be the finishing piece on our CHAMPIONSHIP RUN!
I think Giannis is better than KAT and as a 1 for 1 that makes logical sense, however once you start adding additional players its harder to see the fit logic. We've just created what we hope is an unguardable offense so just need to see it through for a little bit.
i prefer Kat's shooting and passing and the way he can be integrated with everyone else. We'd need a complete re-boot system wise to bring in G

Can another coach fix what the core issues are?
Bucks getting here have the second highest payroll in the east and have few assets to get him short term help.
This is not about making him happy, he is under contract, a massive one and part of that is taking the hit if he asks out.
Reality might be trading him now to start a rebuild so you do have assets.
Bucks greatest player ever? Nope, that was Kareem. ROY and delivered a chip early in his career. When they traded him to the lakers they did not get fair value for trading a top 5 GOAT, but they did have a nice run and was competitive for a while. Lakers at the time sucked for a few years until it all came together in 1980.
Bit of history, if you want to see the genious of that rebuild look to GM Bill Sharmen who held the post for the 5 years BEFORE jerry west took over in 1982. Sharmen set the table for that franchise. West deserves credit but he was not the architect of showtime.
Bucks have to decide if the cannot turn this around and are stuck in a declining mediocrity do they get something for Lillard while they can, and of course set the table to rebuild. Lillard makes 48mm now, then 54mm then 58mm. Or 112mil AFTER THIS SEASON.......
This is easy, you trade him to Miami for Herro and Robinson and any picks that you can get.
You get a bidding war from Rockets/Thunder/Nets for Giannis. This team is not winning a chip and might not make playoffs. They can do with or without Giannis.
You get a good return from one of those teams your gonna be ok going forward.
The formula is like a water power station that uses a dam. If you have excess power you pump the water back up and then back down when needed. You don't get the same efficiency but you are deferring it for later. Teams that go all in and leverage picks and fill with cap cannot at some point have to dismantle and rebuild. Boston did it when Nets went all in. Nets then rebuilt and made another run to try it again. No chips, but they contended. Then dismantled that and have picks to spend.
When simmons comes off the books they can take no a lot of salary or develope thru the draft.
In the age of parity there is a sort of cycle that is predicatable.
Knixkik wrote:Giannis will end up in golden state if he’s moved. Kuminga (maybe S&T this summer), Podziemski, and likely 2027, 2029, and 2031 picks. They have enough mid tier contracts to add or send to a third team to make it work financially. Just makes too much sense. Milwaukee can’t afford a true rebuild owing their picks for many years, so getting guys like Kuminga and Podziemski at least gives them a core of young talent where they may be able to avoid bottoming out if they keep Lillard.
OKC will have a better off with iHart, Dort, young players, and picks?

I think the Bucks would want to undo that Kareem trade.
The NBA is not like other team sports. Championships are usually won by the team that has the best player in the league. Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic, Bird, LeBron, Steph Curry. And Giannis.
Why would you trade a top 5 player in his prime to clear cap and rebuild, just for the hope you might get another franchise talent that could take 5 years to mature?
They’re righting their ship. They’re probably going to come into MSG and win, and they’ll start winning games and if they need a quick fix, off with Doc Rivers as coach and find someone else to inject some life.

Kareem wanted out and was miserable. They had to move him. He was the type of dude that could have retired he was so unhappy. he ca
Kent Benson was the number one pick and Bucks got him. Bad year to have it!
Of course they want to undo the pick. But in the context of the moment look at what they received. It did not execute, but you don't know that at the time.
Lakers year one with Jabbar? 40 wins, did not make playoffs. He was MVP! Yes, best player in the trade and league. Bucks won 38 games fisrt round exit.
Next year won 53 and second round. Was league MVP. The dude is 29 and carrying the franchise! Bucks Win just 30 games but hire Don Nelson mid season.
Year three 45 wins first round out. Bucks win 44. second round exit.
Year four 47 wins and second round out. Bucks win 38 games with John Gianelli backing up Kent Benson, No playoffs.....
Year five Magic time and his last MVP at age 32 with a chip!!!! Bucks win 49 games,
Year 6 Bucks WON 60 Games!!!!!
Now, at this point its clear Lakers got the best player but some very savvy dealing by Sharmon got Magic pick, and traded Norm Nixon who was a good player to Clippers who in return got the pick for eventual HOF James Worthy!
Bucks did not get a chip but did rebuild in an era that took longer and 60 game win season is not to be brushed aside. Next seven years they win 50 or more, with two at 59 and 57!
That was then and an way different era and financial ramifications. For sure Lakers got the best player but as a business Bucks were successful eventually.
1977 draft they had 1st and 3rd pick taking Kent Benson then Margues Johnson.

Because they have to face very steep realities of paying luxury money out the wazoo just to be a potential play in team?
They also need to guard against losing Brook and Portis at end of year or be in the position to negotiate against themselves extending those 2 guys in offseason. And then deal with Dame next offseason.
They are in similar position as LAC has been with PG, Harden, Kawhi without the deep pockets of Microsoft stock. LAC could have traded PG a long time ago and then they did not.
OKC dismantled their PG version team and did have to wait on SGA to mature. But it did pay off. Worth the wait? Eye of the beholder.

So wait - Lopez is finished- they don’t have to sign him for big money. Portis, Middletown and Pat Connaughton all have player options. Do they opt out?
I mean, I let Middletown walk - dude is always hurt. Portis is wonderful, but maybe there are better ways to spend money.
Next year - look at their cap- if those guys opt out, they just have Dame and Giannis occupying a lot of salary- but they’ll have room. Challenge to fill out a roster, maybe.
I just don’t see the need for them to blow everything up.

All of their important role player pieces may move on and their 2 super star occupy $110. That’s without Middleton, Brook, Portis.
If Middleton feels like he can’t get $34m next year from another team because of his continued injury status, it’s most likely to opt in? That’ll set Bucks at $143M in salary for 3 players. The salary cap for 2025 is $155m?
Bucks first found pick for 2025 is owned by Brooklyn, top 4 protected. So they tank or lose the pick.

You have to look at specifics. Players can come off but when you over the apron you can't just replace it.
Your not wrong about Giannis being at or near prime. Thing is, he is breaking a bit more.
And, you need to look at draft picks and what is left to build on.
Thunder did a really deep rebuild and had excess room short term to steal iHart.
They have a long window but a two year financial window before they have to start paying more Yoot.
Took them 3 years to reconstitute the roster? Presti looked silly there for a while but he really did a good job. its a one team market in OKC so its doable. Same with SAS. Bucks have Brewers and Packers but build a nice fanbase the last few years with a good arena as well. Issue is can the business model work with a rebuild.
Then, what does the long term look like? They are over the apron and there are consequences to that.
One day we may be looking at the same thing. Hopefully we have a chip to show for it.
Me? I hope he goes to Nets. I want the nets to compete as inter city rivalry would be so much more fun than one with Miami.
