Meanwhile, the Magic keep taking care of their business. They are clearly the third best team in the East. We seem to be in the “around .500” tier with our sorry defense.

This team is a weird one for me. I love the players and on most night I love the offense but we are just pretenders with this defense.

Hot take, maybe, but I’m wondering if this team needs to put Precious as the starting PF out there with Towns and get Mikal off the bench? I was hoping that Mikal’s defense might be good enough and make such an impact on the perimeter that it would take pressure off Towns at the rim. Right now neither the rim is protected nor the perimeter is covered. It still seems a bit of a philosophical problem, but every time there is one of defenders getting late on a player and an open shot. Guys are either standing up or reacting so late that gives you this lackadaisical effort that is a trend even in wins.

At this point the Mikal trade is what it is. But the starting lineup seems to need Hart as the second ballhandler and he is shooting well, although in a controlled way. Meanwhile, Mikal is not doing it on defense, rather being one of the culprits.

Precious shouldn’t be the savior of this team. There is something really wrong about this defense that goes beyond the expected “it’s the KAT effect” you get. He isn’t the stopper Mitch is, but there is a downgrade on the perimeter defense that worries me about it being long term. Something is just not right and I wonder if a solid dose of Precious in the Starting Lineup besides Towns is the key.

I said the same thing a few games ago, then stopped harping on it with our few wins.

I’d like to see Mikal on the bench to balance out our scoring and I think Mikal might do better if he were the focus on the bench unit.

I had also thought OG would be better of as the SF and not the PF where we have him.

I definitely appreciated him but I had no idea he was the only thing holding our defense together. When everything is said and done us losing iHart to a damn CBA rule will be what killed our championship window.

The best and worst all at the same time.

Wait, doesn’t this mean our starters build a 15 pt lead? What would be the record for point differential?

by the averages yes but as we know those averages could be skewed by games vs teams like the pistons who we destroy. Where as in games vs actual good teams they might not be so favorable. This is why sometimes averages don't tell the whole story. It is why I am so big on strength of opposition when doing averages over a few games period.

The last tweet is french but it says after 19 games 8 players currently have their season high vs us. Every poor shooter has a great night vs us. When are we going to gameplan to stop giving up open 3's? The current gameplan no longer works in an NBA where a Nets 2 way player can come in at hit 7 or 8 3's in a game.
