Knicks · Will Friday be Mitch and TJ Warren day? (page 3)

Well I dont think theres any more incentive to wait on signing someone and now it fits under the apron. So not sure why are waiting, unless we are waiting for Brown
Panos @ 3/3/2025 7:56 AM
I applaud Mitch for the competitiveness and the effort, but i'd rather he not be diving on the floor for loose balls. One win not worth losing him again for a month or worse.

Kinda waiting for the second shoe to drop.

Wondering if they waiting to see if they need a C cause of Huk recovery?

I thought yesterday they were waiting for Moses Brown, but Moses Brown is now officially free.
I personally still prefer a wing to a center. That said there chances Mitch gets hurt again and they need a center are probably too big. I know its been said they could sign another player by cutting Delon Wright, but did I read it correctly that they would have to wait closer to the last day of the season to do that?

Moses Brown?
TJ Warren?

Whats the holdup.....

Personally I want Moses Brown, since we just added a wing. If we can add TJ and Brown, great.

Moses Brown News: Monster showing in G League

Brown tallied 28 points (9-13 FG, 6-8 FT), 21 rebounds, four steals and two blocks across 42 minutes Tuesday during the G League Westchester Knicks' 111-103 win over the Austin Spurs.

Brown paced his team in both the scoring column and on the glass, reaching 20-plus boards for the fourth time in his last six appearances. The 25-year-old's 10-day contract with the Mavs came to an end Saturday, so he should be a mainstay in Westchester's lineup until he finds an NBA opportunity elsewhere.

Still wondering why we haven't signed that 15th man yet or at least given someone a 10 day trial. Begley keeps talking about PJ Tucker being a good fit
Clean @ 3/6/2025 3:36 PM
I come to not even care anymore. Thibs won't play them even if they can fill a void we have. We need a player like Donte that will take a lot and make a lot of 3's. It seems like we have a problem doing that since he left. We always near the bottom of 3's attempted and TJ can help but will just ride the bench anyway. I am not sure how he is at breaking down defenses but we need that to.

Edit: after writing the part about Donte I read the other thread that says exactly the same thing and now it looks like I just lifted this from that thread. Its not looking good but I don't plagiarize lol.

So we signed that Celtics scrub instead of Warren? That's weird.

It's not instead of, TJ Warren cant be signed to a 2-way deal slot that the Knicks had open, the Celtic scrub took the spot of Toppin/Ryan.

Knicks still have open roster spot that is not filled yet.

VDesai @ 3/7/2025 11:33 AM
If Brunson is gonna be out of commission they need Warren. They need a bucket getter. I would guess there's some cap angle to waiting we haven't uncovered, but we need bodies now, and especially someone who can provide some scoring punch. Warren is the closest thing to an Alec Burks type we can add to the roster.

I think you got it backwards

Only players in their fourth NBA season or earlier can sign two-way contracts.

I think we have 3 two way players signed and the 15th roster spot open. I also believe the cutoff for playoff eligibility has passed for roster players. I would assume we start to sign some 10 day contracts and if someone looks promising they are rostered by the last day of the regular season

With as crafty as we have been with the salary rules I wonder if hypothetically speaking, we can sign a veteran at say 5M on the last day of the season and use that salary amount in the summer as trade filler?

I think $5M would put them over the second apron and they can't take back less salary than they rreceive in trade. Hopefully the cap moves up some to give them more breathing room.

Poor TJ got passed on for PJ. I guess he will never be a Knick

I hope his vet leadership can help more than TJ being able to create his own shots and hit 3's.

Moses brown must be slow.

Tucker can play the 3-5 while providing a corner 3 threat, old school Knick toughness and locker room championship mentoring. But what’s most important? He’s a THIBS GUY. Leon is learning well. As long as THIBS is the coach, give him players THIBS would play.
