Boston does not have a big wing defender that the can swarm on Brunson and slow him down. Jrue ain’t in his 20s any more.

Big difference than what he saw against Detroit.

I think this is mostly true BUT Jalen was (has been) getting lost a bunch of rotations in these playoffs.

Almost like he is too exhausted to function mentally on some defensive possessions or he's gambling at the wrong time.

Kat is just like a 5-year old with the silly reach in fouls and shoves right in front of officials.

Here's my issue with all these guys talking about Celtic offensive abomination.

They shot 60 3's (YES) but they averaged 48 during the regular season and everyone fawning all over their asses.

Whenever we've played them I've thought it was almost laughable the amount of 3's they were jacking and making for guys like AL, Pritchard, Holiday. Live by the 3 and die by the 3.

Basically saying if they take 55 3's next game and hit 35% on them they will probably kill us and media will laude the game plan.

Outside of 1 game vs Piston's Mitch has been a dud for me --- he was so bad early last night Thibs reached for Precious until he saw Precious air-mail a lefty layup off the glass.

Mitch did guard the perimeter pretty well last night and his impact around the rim is probably negated some what because he's having to go guard outside.

I want to see better defensive/offensive rebounding in this series, block a few shots and please get foul shots over 9.5 feet in air.

I won't count anything over until a 4th win was final -- our team has been Jekyll and Hyde all year.

Let's just get 2nd win and go from there.

Both Drew and Brown don't quite look themselves - at least last night. I won't count these dudes out being Champs and all -- sure they will come for blood Wed and hopefully officials keep the game reasonable and we show up.

So what you're saying is, they held the opponents to Bridges shooting percentage?
More like saying it's close to what DDV is shooting over a 5 game playoff stretch for Minny, especially the 3point shot.

Touche!

Let’s thank Detroit for lighting that fire. Wingstop had to step up in the 1st series. That series was the best preparation we could’ve had for this Celtics game. Now when we get past Celtics, we will be even stronger for next series, assuming we are still healthy.

Phil Jax called the prolific new 3 ball era as not championship type ball and GSW proved him wrong. Phil and the Triangle became obsolete rather quickly.
This is the evolution of the game because you have the talent to execute the math. Pitino saw this and D'antoni further refined it. Paul Westhead has some good ideas and it worked in Lakerland not so much with 3ball but the pace. Westhead had a very short stint with Denver. So did D'antoni. Nuggs came out of the ABA and made conf finals with run and gun style. This under Larry Brown and again by Doug Moe. When you have a Dan Issel, you can do that. Not all teams have the personal.

Celtics won 61 games and are the champs. They can shrug it off and say "there are games when you shoot like shit, and Knicks defense was good!". Live by it, die by it.

The goal is to win the game. Not uphold tradition. They built a 20 pt lead and we got hindsight to say what they should do better because they lost. They are not going to stop.

Good point about Thibs installing things all season long but its about execution and that takes time or what we fans call "Chemistry". As for Mazzulla, he is coaching to his teams talent and these dudes can shoot. They make the math work.

As Perk said, its very much a must win game for them as you don't want to go down 0-2 AT HOME! Not that the would not be freaked out by MSG as they have won there.

Being the underdog in this series makes it easier for this fan to be more chill. Game one was a beautiful thing. I have no doubt in Celtics ability to run us off the court still and take the series. But the question remains:

Are you entertained?

Barring a very strong finish to these playoffs I think he's a goner given Huck being around.

That said think he's on a declining contract which could help Knicks with CAP but guess that also looks good for other teams.

I'd love a Mitch for Rui H trade if we could work that -- kind of like Rui.

Posted in separate thread - regarding the Donte box (checked) above.

Donte shooting 30% on 61 attempts (overall shooting) and 19% on 38 3 point attempts in 6 playoff games for Wolves.

Sure I'd take him back but he's had some really poor years/playoffs shooting the ball ---- do wonder if last year may have been a blip.

I think if you take a lot of your shots as 3's - the most high variability shot, you're prone to streakiness. He shot 45% on 3's on 7+ attempts per game post all-star break. He was really, really good for them and was a major factor in their strong finish this year.

There's a lot of gravity offered by a guy who has a quick trigger. What makes him a great fit is the stuff he does besides shooting. He could handle the ball a bit, could pass the ball a bit, he was distruptive in passing lanes (even if he gambled). He is a hustle player and a physical player for his size with attitude and that fit the Knicks identity really well last year.

I'm firmly on the "bring him home" bandwagon - but kinda glad to see the struggles. We aren't going to be able to work out a deal if he's giving Minny what he gave us.

It wasn't until Donte moved to the starting lineup that he really shined. The chemistry he has with Brunson is also a significant boost too. Unlikely he returns, but I'm keeping the dream alive!
