Credit where its due: Thibs and the coaching staff really seemed prepared with a plan and an adjustment against Boston. It was a sight to see. His defensive genius is showing up in the playoffs and the team seems more focused lately. I'm still iffy on some offensive plays, especially some Brunson isos, but the Knicks seem to be coming together at the right time. The defensive improvements are sooo welcome!

Great video! I was about to watch the game a 3rd time just to see this, lol.

One thing I noticed- Celtics have a pretty good record in series where they have lost the first game. They will come out swinging the next game. Big caveat is that they have the worst fans in the league. If Knicks can frustrate them, the crowd will quickly turn on the team. By the end of the game the Celtics looked mentally beat. Here's hoping that Thibs continues with the adjustments.

Defensively this is a very talented team. OG and Mikal are excellent perimeter defenders. Even the DDV lovers have to admit both are an upgrade. Mitch is Mitch. Even KAT defensively is an upgrade over Randle just due to his size and length.

So true and the last part (Nice We Won) is almost exhausting to think about in the moment.

For most of game I thought we played like complete crap but from mid 3rd quarter on we started to play more sticky D, started to scrap a bit more and stopped shooting ourselves in foot with unforced TO's.

- Kat just needs to be better (he can't get out of control on drives and lose his force -- needs to collect better (maybe fake) and finish thru the contact. His fouling is just atrocious (almost like he's trying to foul - got lucky refs didn't send Brown to line for 3).
- Foul shooting - got damn we need to make some FTs
- nice to see Deuce contribute
- Mitch though a +13 I didn't feel his presence around the rim (he did contest some 3's nicely without fouling - his FTs make you crazy)
- wingstop showed up
- Josh defended hard all night and made key buckets

Celtics botched that one - we need to play much better to get another game (I think).

So what you're saying is, they held the opponents to Bridges shooting percentage?

Kat has to keep hands out of the cookie jar --- both Kat/Mitch just have to give 1 extra step and continue to make Boston launch jump shots

It honestly seems like Thibs just plays drop coverage all year and saves his strategic defenses for the playoffs.

100% the honest truth. I live in Boston and obviously catch a lot of crap when Celtics beat Knicks. This year I kept telling my friends (kiddingly) that we were doing rope a dope and like preseason football just playing vanilla sets as those games were just reconnaissance missions

iHart and Chet got their hands full

joker is amazing and gives me hope that I have sufficient athleticism to be an NBA superstar

kidding aside, I wish Mitch would watch Joker tapes and realize the importance of keeping the ball high. X years later he continues to bring ball down just to get stripped

More like saying it's close to what DDV is shooting over a 5 game playoff stretch for Minny, especially the 3point shot.

No Clyde and I'm gonna try to see about a Korean stream

Amongst other things, this is what separates Brunson from KAT. One at least tries to give effort on D more consistently than the other.

Interesting for a minute and probably not the next game

I said that exact thing in real time to my buddy. he got the rebound and immediately collapsed to the ground and by then multiple people were holding the ball. Should have been a jump ball not a time out

I agree. The Last 2 minute report says otherwise.

The Knicks won a game fair and square that we REALLY needed psychologically.
We just kept coming, giving effort...

Coming from the Detroit series, does anyone else feel that the Celtics seem slower than the Pistons - maybe underreporting how dinged up they area? Maybe it's the hyper aggressive/athletic play of Thompson and and the attack mode of Cade.

Brown was hampered by a bum knee for the last few weeks of the season.
Tatum has the bone bruise in his wrist. (he played fine with it after missing a game, but bone bruises linger for a bit)
KP is ill... plus is always quietly dinged up.
Holiday has a bad hamstring. He was able to do a lot of fast twitch movements, but I can't help but think he's at high risk of reaggravating the injury.
Houser looked like he was trying to injure anyone near him... then ultimately hurt himself.
