I know in his first season they hated Mazz because he never seemed to know when to call timeout or make substitutions

It's more difficult to convert on cuts to the basket if we are switching and the guy picking up the ball is playing solid D (keeping man in front). This means rest of team is in good defensive position with eyes on man/ball.
Where we've run into issues ALL YEAR was drop coverage and/or doubling the screen and than having to either trail the ball handler or run around making rotations (which leads to lanes for cutting).
Right now we are mostly switching and our BIGS & Jalen are holding up ok on the ball.
Doesn't hurt Celtics are bricking but they've always had reckless shot selection.
ALL that said --- now we need to find a way to close them out in whatever fashion possible.

In a game where every point counted I thought KAT dominating from the post for 3-4 straight possessions was huge. KAT's put back and one in the 4th was also a big play. Knicks can do this more the first 3 quarters to generate easy offense.
Josh led all scorers without having a single play called for him. He put the team on his back early in the game to keep it from being a total blow out.
Now that Mitchell has got his legs under him", O really hope Thibs considers having him start every quarter. That puts a lot of pressure on the Celtics if they decide to foul him.

Don’t be a troll. The Knicks offense needs A LOT of help. Doesn’t change that there is some magic in the air right now and Thibs obviously has some areas he’s coached extremely well and I’ve given him full credit for those areas. But the offense remains a trash heap.

Boston seems to have no idea what to do when 3s aren’t falling. They just keep shooting 3s even when the whole team has the yips and is collapsing.
These are two of the most exhilarating wins of my lifetime but if we think we’re gonna win this series this way we are mistaken. They need to figure out the offense or get back to layup lines to start the 1st and 3rd. 13 point first quarter and 61 points after 3Qs.
That said this team is performing like an elite defense now and Thibs gets full credit for the way they have completely gotten in Boston’s head on that side of the ball.
KAT echoed this sentiment in his post game and also mentioned they beat DEN last year 2-0 in DEN then lost 2 at home and ended up winning in 7 (came back from down 20 in game 7 on the road). He said they don’t want to play with fire like that. Need to lock in for game 3.
