Do you guys think that Jalen Brunson is on the table?
I do, because I believe they’re about to fire Rick and trade people to get guys like Durant and Giannis
I think Jalen Brunson is as off the table as any player in the league is. In terms of being off the table, it's probably Wemby, Curry, and Brunson.
If we would not make any big changes this year then there is basically only one way to get better. Find ways to develop this year's rookies and get them minutes. All 4 of them have potential and managing to get them ready to contribute even 5-10 minutes would be the only major way to improve this team. Hopefully management will take that into consideration when choosing the new coach. Bringing back Wright and maybe Shammet will be good decisions. Any way to improve KAT/Brunson's defense can also be helpful.

How do you think a Giannis trade can work out? Sure for us it would be great but I am trying to see what the Bucks will need to accept a trade and I am having a hard time making the numbers work. Specially if we take into consideration that the Bucks will have a lot of offers. Also I think that Giannis prefers to stay away from cities like New York, Chicago or L.A.

trades like this almost always involve a third party. We know they'd want prospects and picks. I don't know, maybe JB to Houston, Giannis to NY, and collective prospects and picks to Milwaukee. I have no idea, I have put no thought into a hypothetical trade... I just think that if Thibs got fired well JB is probably on the table and throwing a hypothetical out there

I think they try to find a coach who will bring out the best in Brunson’s game. See if he can get his teammates more involved, earlier in the clock. If that doesn’t work they might trade him the season after that, but not next season. I don’t think Leon is desperate. Not yet anyway.
JB is the most clutch player in the league as you know. Hard to improve on that, but Brunson can improve his passing game, and hopefully defense. If any star goes, I think it’s KAT first.

When a guy does what he done for your franchise in terms of production and results, then takes less on an extension to create a 3 year window where its more viable for your team to bring in other big names in order to contend and not get stung by the salary cap, then I think he earns the right to be untouchable (and is the kind of player who should be untouchable). If you deal him after that, you might be an organization that's willing to whatever you think it takes to win, but you're also a bunch of assholes.

I agree, but I can't say any of this was expected. and when you get down to it, we played our best hoops without JB in the Indy series. It would be a ruthless tactic but what about any of this feels nice

This would be good if it was 2015.
So many times we forget the age of a player and focus on what they did 10 years ago.
This replaces our PF issue but means KAT stays at the 5. Meaning no rim protection and a weak defensive PF. One who will need a lot of shots. Something that’s already at a premium with JB and KAT.
If we get somehow get Grayson Allen from PHO too that would be amazing. Allen is a better version of DDV.

Would make us even more toxic for any player to sign here. Firing Thibs is rough, but ultimately doesn't make your org any less attractive to play for. Screwing over a superstar player who took less for the teams flexibility does.

Again, I’m not advocating for it - I am literally asking if it’s possible
And you’re wrong if you think firing JB’s dad during change the attractiveness of playing for the Knicks

No.

I thought you were talking about trading JB

Durant would be such a stupid culture killing move. Durant is a thin skinned cry baby who only won once thanks to him signing with a Warriors dynasty he has not won anything since and missed the playoffs last season. I don’t see him getting along with Brunson. If we are picking the next head coach based on the whims of KD God help us.
the problem with KD is teams have been gutting their teams to acquire him. And the 3 superstar era is over, you need depth and role players now.
But the last time KD actually went to a team that didn't gut their team for him, he was the best player on a championship team.
If you can bring in KD to a team that already has Brunson, Hart, Mikal, OG, Mitch, & Deuce... that's as good a top 7 as you will find in the NBA.

I’m totally aware of his age and ability to produce as a top tier second option for 2-3 years. I would also only do a KAT swap.
The *need* to make a trade like this is lessened with the Thibs firing though. I’m way more open to a new coach trying new things with the current roster than running it back square with Thibs.

If Knicks trade Cap, fan base will riot like Mavs fans after Luka.
At least we own our own #1 pick next year...
Brunson and Rick stay. KAT stays. We hire a coach that opens up the Brunson+ KAT combo on offense and finds a way to play d with them on court. That's the plan. No to KD. We have something special over here. Two all NBA players and a nice supporting cast around them + nice options to develop down the pipeline

VOICE OF REASON... thx

That's probable. KD is one of the players I dislike most in the league but I'd be intrigued if the deal was only for KAT. The cap flexibility alone after 2027 without KAT is worth it alone.
