Looke like Mike Brown is going to be the 32 head coach of the NY Knicks...Below is a video of the Kings offensive breakdown from 2 years ago....Brown has some really good actions, counters, ball and player movement. Really like that he ran a lot of actions through Sabonis, taking advantage of his passing skills. I can see Kat, running similar actions in the half court.....

They gave us fits the last few seasons with their size and speed. Looks like the FO is trying to replicate that dynamic here, with some of these offseason moves.

Marc Stein: The Knicks have been telling prospective free agents that they are nearing a resolution to their coaching search, league sources tell @JakeLFischer and me. More NBA from us: tinyurl.com/5bf9t28k – via Twitter TheSteinLine

Question is are they telling or have they already told. We can't really afford any more FAs, so this is either what we told Yabu and Clarkson to get them to come here, or if we're still saying it there's some trades comin...

So we interviewed 2 coaching candidates for the job? It should be fine, what could go wrong?
Nalod@ 7/1/2025 6:48 PM
Borrego is associate head coach of NOLA. You can pluck a coach only if you promote him.

3.
That we know of.

I was hoping for T Jenkins and find myself a tad more intrigued by J Borrega vs Mike Brown.
Have always thought Brown was a bit of a fugazy (think Fizdale) but I guess Brown has put in his time and he's been successful just a feeling I get where he seems a bit fake.

My issue with the notion of bringing King offense here --- Sabonis as the hub is a legit and serious facilitator and doesn't bring some of the dumb stuff Kat comes with.
Kat can pass with most anybody but he also airmails balls into the crowd and just takes bad chances.
Sabonis on the other hand reads and reacts -- he's not trying to impress anyone and he understands getting proper position without allowing smaller players to push him all over the place.
Also think Fox vs Brunson was much more apt to use his quickness to move/cut off ball.

Or other team just allows him to leave.

Mike Brown with James Borrego would be a great outcome IMO.

This would be really good. Plus Rick Brunson. And also don’t be surprised if Mike Brown brings over Riccardo Fois, a young player dev guy who worked with Mikal in Phoenix and was on Browns staff in Sacramento.

Given the Pacers stopped trying, can we ask for permission to talk to Carlisle?!?

Video was a little over the top in terms of Brown's greatness but the overall asst/head coach record is hard to argue with.
He's had to coach a few of the greatest to ever play, been part of some great franchise runs as an assistant and went from initially a defensive guy to adding some offensive successes to his tally.
I see many wanted him gone even worse than some people here with Thibs.
At this point, I don’t know what to think. There is no magical Phil Jackson waiting to take a team on the brink to the promised land. Every coaching candidate comes with a heavy bag of salt.
At this point, it will be what it will be. Don’t see how we get Brown as the head coach and Borrego as the top assistant while Borrego is NOP’s top assistant already. The other way around? Surprises everyone and hire the Ted Lasso guy?
