I think Deuce is gone. Especially if we sign Westbrook. I think Kolek is a better fit with his ability as a floor general. 2nd unit shaping up. Hopefully Mitch is brought back.

Duece is making less than 5 million per and his great value for what he provides and at his age. No am I moving Duece to make room for Westbrook....

I think Westbrook commands more attention from the defense. Deuce gets to the line on average less than once a game. I think we need a player who will be more aggressive, get to the line more often. Help put the other team in foul trouble.

Westbrook and Clarkson in the same backcourt are too ineffecient from 3 and wildly inconsistent to play together. Also, Westbrook only averaged 3 free throw attempts per the last 2 years off the bench which is the same number as Clarkson. I think we are good with Clarkson. Duece is only 24 and for the production he gives us, is on a great contract for us. Also, Duece is also our best on ball defender...

Sounds like Westbrook now not an option —- I would say Clarkson/Deuce could be bench backcourt but who knows what trades could be coming.

Clarkson typically has the ball in his hands coming off the bench — for better or worse.

I see your point. At the same time, if it were Kolek at PG, Westbrook at the 2, and Clarkson at the 3. We would have someone who could help keep these streaky players from going off the deep end offensively. They would push the tempo relentlessly. Throw in Mitch as a lob threat, and we would have a scary second unit.

We still can without Russ if we have a floor general in the second unit, running the point. Kolek or a vet with something left in the tank. Not hunting their own shots.

Doesnt sound like they are interested in Russ anyway.

This was the perfect signing for a bench that couldn’t score. Now get another for backup haha.

I look at it as if Deuce may start and Kolek-Clarkson-Hart off the bench.

Seems like Westbrook was Sixth Man plan A, but then Clarkson came free and he became plan A+.

Knicks clearly felt they needed someone off the bench to create something off the dribble. They lacked that dimension.

DLeethal @ 7/1/2025 6:54 AM
Clarkson is a one man scoring crew for a bench that needly it badly. Deuce might end up being our starting 2 guard next year. Will be interesting to see if we add another guy who can fill that position. Wouldn't hate Kolek playing next to Clarkson off the bench next year.

Kolek - Clarkson - Hart - Mitch is a nice bench unit if you ask me.

Still more to shake out, I still want Horford.

I want Horford and his veteran min salary isnt far off the MLE. However Golden State just let Looney go and have then Non Taxpayer MLE which is almost 11mm more if they give it to him. Hard to pass that up. He is the perfect small ball 5 for that old ass team trying to make one last run.

My 2nd choice is Larry Nance Jr. Good rebounder and finisher who can stick a 3 and guard 4s and 5s. I think he is the perfect finishing piece for the bench here.

MaTT4281 @ 7/1/2025 7:31 AM
Obligatory

VDesai @ 7/1/2025 7:33 AM
Cam Payne was literally our only bench player who could swing a game for us last year with a scoring outburst. We didn't really get that from Deuce. Payne was actually pretty efficient from 3 till his late year injury - but ended up with inefficient numbers. Clarkson gives you that more consistently with a much bigger bag. He can get to the line and he absolutely has to be accounted for defensively because he has no fear of driving the lane or pulling up. He brings you the element Quickley gave us. The question is on a better team and at this age can he be more efficient?

I thought he looked a little forked last year. Even if he is, a veteran minimum its no risk to us. He isnt that old, so he could be a wild card element that really helps.

nycericanguy @ 7/1/2025 7:34 AM
I've never been a big Clarkson fan, but for vet min he does provide alot of what we need.

Scorer off the bench, another ballhandler vs pressure, which IND really killed us with. A guard who can penetrate outside of Brunson. and a guard/wing who can create his own shot outside of Brunson. He can also let it fly whenever from whereever, like Donte.

Now he hasnt been efficient the past few years but he's also been on really bad teams. he's had some really efficient and really solid 3pt shooting seasons in the past on good teams. So I think a reduced role here, he'll hopefully be more efficient. He's also had some really good playoff runs.

right now Clarkson is the purest SG we have, we didn't really have a true SG.

nycericanguy @ 7/1/2025 7:40 AM
I do hope we still keep Shamet though.
VDesai @ 7/1/2025 7:43 AM
Thinking about Mike Brown as potential coach you can definitely look to the role he carved out for Malik Monk and think about Clarkson.
Nalod @ 7/1/2025 7:48 AM
Horford To Warriors seems to be the talk.
Clarkson is not easy to look at. Hope his game is pretty.
For a team with Championship aspirations Kolek is really gonna have to shine early to earn his way into the rotation.

we have a better situation than GSW. Hopefully Hortford comes for 2 year MLE.
nycericanguy @ 7/1/2025 7:58 AM
hortford, clarkson plus resigning Shamet would be a very solid offseason.

I remember that game and looked it up. He was awful in the first half.
Finished the game with 25pts, shot 8-20 after a cold start and 3-7 from 3pt.
He got hot in the 2nd half.

Im not excited but if he a knick Im hoping for his success!

Alpha1971 @ 7/1/2025 8:36 AM
Shamet or Wright for you guys ? Sort of like the Burks or the other guy we had, with the dreads ? Happy free agency !!
