We need him to be a microwave and Brown give him the hook before he is a detriment. With is body type and perhaps good health we can wish for a Jamal Crawford type result? Its a good potential signing. Should prove to be an upgrade from Payne.
Because he got bought out and wants to be on a deep playoff team.
I'm guessing the Knicks signed him more for his ball handling, passing, and 6man mentality more than spacing.

Brogden, Beasley, Simmons, and Westbrook all loom out there. The Kuminga situation is a bit of a stalemate given GSW ambitions to win a chip with some old guys. Same for Clippers I suppose. These older players are not so keen to keep moving as they have kids in school and don't need the money. You do have the August vacation month were FO's kind of have a quiet period given the intensity of the off season regarding the draft, summer league, FA's and the financial aspects. These guys deserve and need a break also! I suspect after Labor day things ramp up a bit. Im not guessing who gets whom. I'd even say knicks could do a trade to create room or solve "issues". No need to think beyond this year much so about anything is or should be on the table. Trading Mitch creates another "issue". Im not saying Josh or Deuce are expendable but both bring value back in a trade. For whom? Maybe do what Detroit and Indy have done which is have a few good but not great bigs as role players? Not as good as mitch, but more bodies. Mitch goes down again we got Huk who himself is fragile. Yabu really was a great pick up! Maybe Precious on a min deal fills a need? Amount of roster spots are a different story. Shamet? Al Horford relocate his family to GSW? Many questions unanswered and dominoes to fall soon enough.

More power to him and us if that is how it goes down! Not much sense of pride in a Jazz uni in Salt Lake when you look like he does?
They on a yoot movement also.

Brogdon? Always liked him. Solid player. Recent injuries a concern. How much will he get offered from other teams seems to be the big question.
Knicks gonna be doing 5-out with Mitch, you know it

I was hoping to see more video of him practicing this instead;

Hell yeah!!! Nothing gets me less excited for the season than Mitch Robinson workouts!!!!!
PassTheBall@ 8/31/2025 12:33 PM
To be fair, if he can just eliminate the hack a Mitch he would increase his value exponentially.

Westbrook back in the rumor mill. Do we need an experienced back up PG? Probably our biggest off season need. We saw that in last year’s series versus Indiana. Feel Westbrook, as crazy as he can be, is better than Simmons.

Delon Wright vs Ben Simmons vs Malcolm Brogdon vs Russel Westbrook. With a side hustle of Kolek.

We still have mins at PG to give? I’m not seeing it.

Knicks don't. But if Brunson goes down with injury that's longer than a couple of weeks, it'd be nice to have a guy who has done the starter thing as a PG.
That's the minutes the Knicks have to give?

Lots of issues addressed. Good listen with some nuggets worth listening to. Start at 21:50 for Knicks

Good listen. Thanks for posting. Agree that locking up the core was the biggest move in offseason. But think to add Yabu and Clarkson were also big moves considering the cap restrictions. Going forward, we have to hope the core is enough to get us far.
Begly say's knicks never made an offer? If his back really hurts maybe we cut him some slack? He had a monster contract and tried over 4 years. The whole "he quit on his team" is kind of one sided. Rivers kind of quit on him too. That injury was real. He had real surgery. Not saying the guy is a warrior by any stretch. He made a bad play, got thrown under the bus and wanted out and was injured. Not all back procudures go great. If he is contimplating retirement and indecisive and no more big money his agent is also bailing on him? Maybe? Perhaps the moment of clarity arises when Simmons realizes he doe not have much left physically or mentally? Self actualizaton might be in his wheel house.
or, he is still a entitled little shit?
Either way if he is not right physically, mentally, or both MSG is not the place to restart a career on a win now team.

Saw that. Possible support to that is that teams were known to be sitting back until end of September. However, maybe some truth to him and his side wanting more than the minimum.
My feel, despite the hope he would be added for cheap and that he would resurrect his career, is WHY bother with Ben? Nets had same dream and ended up being a bit far sighted. We have improved the roster, imo, so see more risk in now adding a player that has had mental issues and has no confidence in his shot. Yes he is a versatile defender but you need a guy that can hit a shot in the playoffs . Since teams will make guys like him beat you. I would have preferred Brogdon but know that was always a long shot with limited funds. At this point even Westbrook looks better suited to contribute. My preference is Wright or Shamet. Both Played decently and bring familiarity. Do feel we need an experienced back up PG but think Shamet will have a really good year since he is coming off some good games in the playoffs and will hopefully have a healthier start.

I'd go as far as guessing that Ben couldn't get a guaranteed min contract offer and that was the holdup.
If I'm the Knicks and I had some desire for Simmons on roster, I'd make it guarantee in January to see how the first months go.
