I really don’t want to see any big moves till the offseason… I think if Kat is still on the team after the trade deadline we will see KAT attack come alive .
OG was playing like this to start the season, then had to sit out some games, and now he looks like a first team All-Star again.
Should there ever be a decision to trade either wing it would be Mikal sent. I think the FO would agree with me that OG is key to being a contender.
Hart, Brunson and OG are the heart of this team.
Agreed … would love to get an impact 4 off the bench for Yabusele and Clarkson .
The defense is great. It seems more Shamet/less Clarkson and more Mitch in crunch time has kind of steered the ship defensively. KAT and Brunson are really the only weak defenders in the entire rotation now.
I don't really see the point in using a pick to get someone like Alvarado. How much of an upgrade is he over Kolek? I'd rather just keep developing our guy. I think there is still value in getting a big wing and a 3rd C, but mostly just for extra depth and I'm not sure what I'd use beyond some future 2nds to get them. No point in trading for guys that will barely crack the rotation at full health IMO. With Deuce back the rotation is kind of set. And with Deuce and Shamet back we don't really need that POA specialist. Just seems kind of unnecessary to me. The defense has gotten MUCH better by getting Shamet back / removing Clarkson and just staggering KAT/Brunson even more and also riding Mitch deeper into the 4th quarters.
All that said, I am worried about Brunson and KAT. They both seem far away from their best for awhile. We are going nowhere with them being far away from their best. Brunson seems to struggle cooking guys like we are accustomed to - seems almost every night there's a random guy who is making his life miserable. This is the guy who made countless elite 6'8 wing defenders his bitch over the last few years. He seems rattled and flustered far too often recently. Looks like the PG version of KAT at times and it pains me to say that.
LivingLegend wrote:Nice game - was worried early as we were not capitalizing on some opportunities and was waiting on refs to hand Lakers game. You see the energy ramp up in the 3rd as our wings were extending pressure heavily, going hard over screens and playing the passing lanes.
Kat with another calm game without many mental lapses, making nice passes, taking solid shots and rebounding like a man. Let's not forget that Kat is leading the NBA in rebounding while still sitting at roughly 20 PPG - sometimes guy is only guy on defensive glass and it's rare he doesn't snatch ball when its in his orbit.
Thought Kolek sparked us some, Shamet big down the stretch, Hart one of his best games of year, OG one of his best of the year.
Mikal MIA - with 0-6 from 3, zero FT attempts, zero rebounds and benched down the stretch.
Nice to win.
KAT calm? he was screaming at the top of his lungs and waving his arms up wildly on multiple consecutive plays begging for fouls. But whats more telling to me is when he does that, none of his teammates even bat an eye, let alone stand up for him. I think his act has worn thin.
Last thought .... KAT's rebound + outlet game is way under appreciated. It's Kevin Love / Jokic esque. If KAT is not making dumb fouls and missing wild drive attempts, and playing contained, he impacts the game in a lot of ways even if he's not scoring consistently. A complete vacuum on the boards and really turns the stops we get on D into great opportunities on O with his outlets. Our team is really bad on the break in general so those give us a big lift.

he's a good passer but it doesn't seem he really takes joy in it. He seems to only be happy if he's scoring and getting foul calls. his entire existence seems to be wanting fouls called...lol. its really bizarre. IDK how he can watch footage of himself on a game to game basis and not cringe.
KAT is getting hit alot. He just is not handling it well. I agree.
I think he takes joy in the passing. He is good at it and it charges the team.
The rebounding is elite.
good teams are ensombles and while the best of the best have the true stars, ours is kind of not like that. Take away the hype and Jalen has his flaws. Not taking anything away, but we not talking about his MVP talk anymore are we? That was hype. He is All NBA at the guard and true allstar.
KAT came with much being the over all no. 1 pick, an out going personality, but on asome bad teams, some immature pushbacks, injuries and rough covid experience losing his mom, there is little hc an do than be an top 3 MVP candiate that will make people happy.
Winning does.
OG? Few years ago he wanted more touches in toronto as Scottie Barns was being groomed over him. He was due an extenstion and Raptors resisted. This follows him here as those looking to poke holes in his game carry this. Fact is the guy keeps improving. Even last night he comes up with the big steal, rebounds, and hits his shots. Just incredibly solid! He lets the game come to him. When he forces it? There are turnovers. Its the price you pay for improvement. He was brilliant last night vs. Lakers. He has been since he became a knick two years ago.
Once upon a time this team was compared to Larry Browns detroit pistons for its lack of super stars but could win a chip. This is how I view it. Kat will drive us crazy and never be the player we want. Thats a Joel Emibiid play but smiles more? Fans did not vote him a starter which is ok, but coaches did this year. That holds weight. Leads the league in rebounding for the moment. THat because Joker and Sabonis have been hurt. Give him credit, Kat not missing many games since being a knick. That was a major concern.
Speaking of fat, Donic looking porky again. Hell of a player. He can carry it. But can he finish games at the high level as the season goes on? Does chubby players resist major injuries? ONe year in the trade still looks horrible given AD's lack of time on the court. Nico is fired. Not sure that trade ever looks good on him until Dallas makes serious runs or Luka blows out his ACL and baloons into oblivion.
Caught some of the Denver game last night. Speaking of weight watchers OKC spanked the Nugs with a blistering shooting display. JOkic looked good but he looks really fat. He is minutes restricted and needs to play back into shape. He has tits.
These guys are pure basketball/fundamenally talented to the high degree.
Back to knicks, 6 game winning streak! I like the turnaround!
Can’t wait for the lakers to get Giannis for Bronny and Hachimura and then the bucks coincidentally win the lottery

Agree. Stick with the roster as is. Yabu sucks but that’s a minor complaint he’s a 10th man if that. I only want Giannis if it’s him straight up for KAT and Deuce and that’s not happening he’s going to Miami or Lakers
It's always great to beat LeBum! And how embarrassing for NBC having Reggie Miller slobber all over LeBum after every little thing he did! I was really excited when NBC got the TV rights back but having Reggie doing all of our games really sucks.
Anyway, another game where we played defense and won. Held them to 67 points after the first quarter including only 18 in the 4th. Everyone is playing defense! And if we keep this up, we will be a tough out for anyone in the playoffs. This needs to be our standard and identity the rest of the season. OG especially has been just a demon at both ends. Josh Hart with his 3rd straight 20 plus point game and crazy that's he's now shooting 41% from three! His defense on Luke in the second half was outstanding.
Great minutes by the bench! I've been saying and screaming it the last few games that we need to find some minutes for Kolek! He just impacts the game and makes players better. Loved his aggressiveness against Luka! And Shamet had one of those games where he looked like a star. Hit those 2 dagger threes to end it too. And of course his usual aggressive defense.
One of those rare games too where Brunson didn't have it offensively but he still impacted the game with 13 assists and played great defense. And another quiet game offensively from KAT but did great everywhere else with 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals but 11 shots in 32 minutes is just not enough and Brown needs to find more ways to utilize him. But it's also another game where the zebras just do not show him any respect. It's beyond frustrating to watch and can't imagine how it must be for him getting him and knocked around and no calls are made. But what does it say that even in a down year he still selected as an All-Star? Some, including myself, are sometimes too hard on KAT but he's still better then 99% of players at his position!
But 6 in a row! Proud of these guys!!!
Teams are just surprised Jalen is actually trying to play average defense

Yea it's way over the top. But he's an "over the top" dude lol

He’s from Jersey, but also he has a right to freak out he gets fouled on 80% of his drives . They just can’t call that many …
He should take the approach of not complaining and see how many whistles he gets … like literally do not say one peep to the refs other then compliments… because he deserves to go to the line 10+ times a game … I think he just pisses the refs off so they call the bare minimum.
I hope Mike brown talks to him about this.
KAT is a beast and the most under appreciated player on the team he needs to use that as fuel . We need KAT to be at his best all around come playoffs.

I totally agree on Kat enjoying his passing BUT he seems to need constant acknowledgement that everyone (fans, teammates, staff, announcers) notice.
He is like a kid who eats his spinach and looks to Mom/Dad nodding their approval.
He is an ELITE defensive rebounder who gobbles up most everything in his reach - great/soft/strong hands even without the ability to lift off the floor.
He is an outstanding player only held back by his peanut brain antics of which he’s controlled more recently.
Deuce already announced out again Tuesday vs Wizards and didn’t sound like he’d play We’d vs Nuggets—- very sketch to me on Deuce front.

That;s calm for Kat — 2 plays vs entirety of game.

Yes - when he’s locked in he’s outstanding out letting the ball.

Disagree on the first part I do think he enjoys passing but he tries to downplay it.
I agree on part about watching himself —- makes me wonder what kind of influence his Pop is (would think he’d have curbed Kats antics by now).
Ignoring Greek for the moment would love to see us come away with 2 of 4 guys below.
Dosumo
Missi
Sochan
Bey
Dosumo would be #1 I think, Sochan/Bey #2 and Missi #3 (mostly because seems like we are keeping Kat/Mitch).
Think we need a perimeter defender/slasher (Dosumo) and either a wing defender/ball handler (Sochan) or wing scorer (Bey).
Would like to see Sochan defend at the garden.

He hasn't been unlocked. To me that means- not complaining, not forcing shots at rim( has no counter moves, no up and under , no nothing, and don't make those shots consistently enough) instead pass it. Josh Hart is automatic at the rim while Towns makes like one out of 3. So those 2 things and not fouling= unlocked KAT
1)Stop complaining
2)Add a passing option while driving
3)Stop fouling
