I love his energy and also think Leon et al. have a good read on things. He could be very good situationally.

that said, I am worried about a smaller guard when you look at the Pistons' guards, SA and OKC.

i mean he's a situational player. lets put it this way, we probably beat IND and don't collapse game 1 last year if we had him. Deuce & Brunson cannot handle backcourt pressure too well.

Kolek can’t either.

you're right but I think he has the potential to improve. sometimes i still see the rookie nerves with him.

Now that we have cap room is it Dink time? He’s not ready for prime time and could be years away but you lock him in before losing him

Kudos to the OP, your contact was right. Also is Trey Lyles coming to join us ? How was he playing in Europe ?

Deuce is out. You'll likely see Kolek and Alvarado get some minutes together to test their mix.

I’d want to add Dink but another big seems necessary. Xavier Tillman and Chris Boucher seem like possible shots with my Trey Lyles guess as another long shot.

Hope Deuce is back by playoffs. He was truly effective in that 5 man unit.

Brunson / Alvarado / Kolek
Deuce / Shamet / Clarkson
Bridges / Hart / Dadiet
OG / ________ / Diawara /
KAT / Mitch / Huk

Lyles would fit best next to Mitch. I’ve always liked Boucher and surprised he didn’t get much usage in Boston.

Knicks got their draft rights guy as part of the deal. A 2010 draft pick.

Have you seen Kolek when a pressure defender picks him up full court? It’s not pretty. Check some of his possessions against Bruce Brown last game.

He's a young guard who got tested by some teams and he got bullied by a couple of guys and he has since bullied back, leaning into defenders and shrugging them off as he crosses the half-court line. He is a well-trained PG who understands how to put himself between the ball and his defender and he is adjusting to NBA pressure tactics the more he plays.

Cherry picking a couple of instances where he was smothered vs. the majority of the time where the ball has been handled better by him than anyone else on the team is an odd way to assess a player.

Brunson has had more issues with protecting the ball than Kolek so are we going to judge him by the same standard?

And regardless of which guard we have bringing the ball up the court, it is a team responsibility to recognize when full court pressure is being applied so other players on the floor can go closer to the ball to provide an outlet for the ball handler being pressured. This is something the Knicks have not done every time there is pressure being applied.

Kolek has definitely gotten stronger and gets pushed around less but he is far from imposing his will on stronger guards on both ends. At least he isn't afraid of the contact and is figuring it out.

Now that we have Jose, can all you whining bitches stop pining over DDV?
fitzfarm @ 2/6/2026 7:10 PM
One has to wonder when the trade was basically for 2 second round picks and cash… it must’ve been for a lot of cash cause that trade is kinda highway robbery . Is the cash amount undisclosed?

More time to focus on Randle! We see right thru your 3D chess schemes!

Do we know which two. We have some very good seconds. Like the Nets and the Wizzards…

Nah I’m over Foolius. I’m ready to embrace the current roster.

Although we could use Julius tonight. Nothing like a little bully ball!

Pistons would be banged up and in foul trouble.

Damn I miss Jules.
