And I'm not going to unload as hard on Brunson right now, but it would be a bad assumption to think he can elevate this team by himself. He's not that kind of guy. Being clutch is cool, but that is something entirely different and only useful if you have the full foundation in place to contend for a ring. He's not quite a leader that some people think he is. He's pretty much a SG playing PG and it does not always lead to an effective offense as a whole. He's not a plus defender so as long as he tries to play D I'm already inclined to give him a pass for that compared to the other starters. But our offensive chemistry is completely hit and miss with no consistency and often with zero cohesion. Part of it is how Brunson plays and some of it may be Brown not running plays for the other guys, especially KAT. That first half was a joke for KAT. How can he not be fed the PnR at least half a dozen times a game? If Brunson can't bring himself to make it happen, then Brown needs to make him do it.
24 assists is just not good enough against a great defense. That and getting out rebounder is a sure loss
We will struggle against the Pistons and OKC because we lost out toughness identity with Thibs. Maybe Brown can eventually figure out a new identity but that has always been the question with him - he can coach but things always go south sooner than later with him. And it doesn't help you have Brunson and KAT with poor offensive games while they give you so little defensively.
We should be #4 in a few days, and possibly #5 soon after that.
Last year we could blame injuries and needing to build chemistry.
This year we’re just showing what we are.
Yesterday really sucked. At first I didn’t care if we won the game, but then eventually got annoyed because it felt like we should have been easily winning that game. They missed so many open threes that it was getting frustrating. We definitely have a more talented roster, but so far it looks like they’re the better team. I would like to see one thing though, and I know it’s alot to ask of a rookie, but I would’ve liked to see Diawara run the point for a few minutes in a lineup like:
Diawara
Shamet
OG
Sochan
KAT
Then just switch everything on defense. Run everything through the post on offense. Curious to see how the Pistons would have responded to that one.

Despite what the curmudgeons on WFAN have been saying for 25 years the NBA regular season is important. The Knicks getting the 2 seed is HUGE this year they need to start accumulating W’s.

It's been the story for the Knicks for many years...we do not have any consistant shooters we can depend on except Brunson. Also, we're lacking a big man who can take it to the basket in traffic. KAT looks like a uncoordinated oversized grade schooler when he tries. We miss DEVO...could have been our dependable 3 point shooter.
Hopefully this lights a fire under some asses
I don’t know how many people remember Robert Parrish but I swear everyone of his interviews stressed the importance of playing the full 48 minutes. Knicks would benefit from adopting that advice. They are not good enough to simply turn it on
If Brown wanted my advice he would severely limit Jose’s minutes when playing Detroit. He’d be better served playing sochan and mo against Cade than having Jose out there. Also he may want to consider belichek strategy of finding a way to better address the other teams best player. I mean honestly you stop Cade and you stop Detroit. Not saying that’s easy to do but the strategy is simple. I was hoping OG or Mikal was up to the task.
I’ll say it again, We need a PG who makes others better. Despite 8 dimes, Brunson seldom sets others up for easy shots. More like assists are forced and not intentional. We spent a lot of money on KAT, OG and Bridges. There are many games where their only offense comes from forcing their own offense. He is one of the best clutch players we have had. Great scorer. But he has to find a way to get others in the game and ready to help.
Pistons has a whole bunch of big athletic dogs.
We have a short alpha, $55m soft pussy KAT and two other high priced players who I sometimes wonder if they have a pulse. (Frustration and fear we don’t do anything in playoffs talking. )
If these guys don’t get it going, which I expect they will, I’ll start my rebuild with Hart and Jose and bring back guys like Randle, IHart and Divo. Despite their flaws, they seemed to be ready for a fist fight every night.
Hoping we don’t shoot 22% from three in the next one.
