Knicks · Giannis is definitely getting traded before the start of the 2026/27 season (page 2)

Giannis is not worth any of the stars on our team. There I said it. Thats how I feel right now.

I'd like to hear more if you care to elaborate

He’s getting old and the bucks want waaaayyy too much. Let him go to the lakers so he can play with Luka in the play-in next year.

31 years old, with a lot of miles. And various injuries.

I'd like to see him in blue and orange, but only for a fair price.

If he is worth the farm, shouldn't the Bucks have been serious contenders more often?

martin @ 4/5/2026 11:32 AM
Bucks ownership fucked up the minute they decided to trade for Dame. That's the future they fucked up by moving all of those draft picks.

And then they fucked up again by not trading Giannis last summer. Probably could have tanked this year and also gotten another high draft pick from a team in this year's draft; so they are missing 2 high picks from one of the best drafts in decades. That's the present day of what they could have gotten for Giannis at a max return.

And now they have to battle themselves as an ownership group and their main player and the teams that are going to make a trade for them. That's their future.

It's a lose-lose-lose trifecta.

I was wary of Durant after his achilles injury and today he is performing at a high level

Sometimes it hard to project when a player ages out. I have not seen that to be the case with Giannis yet, therefore I'm not inclined towards that particular argument against him being a Knick.

I think window of opportunity is the primary variable here. If this window for Giannis on the Knicks is 3 years that's plenty of time to justify it.

Also, the Bucks did win it all with him and an OK supporting cast. His # 2 was Middleton, who played great during the playoffs to cover for Giannis brief absence, but he was never a bona fide star. It was really Jrue that pulled all of that roster together, because everyone besides Lopez and Portis were guys you can pick up for exemptions and on the waiver wires. It was not a deep roster at all.

IOW, Giannis actually did put a team on his back and won a ring. I don't see how you can take that away from him.

The Bucks since that championship have missed Jrue. He was the X factor for Giannis.

What would our X factors be for Giannis then is the question to ask.

He won a championship without much depth on the Bucks roster. Even after a trade we'd have more depth than Giannis ever had as a Buck.

Yeah this seems fair.

My assumption would be KAT, both draft picks this year, and at least one more contract player.

IDK what else is there that makes sense without also breaking the bank?

I'm not a capologist so I don't know what kind of swap can be made, but we do have multiple guys on big salaries to build a trade with.

Maybe Mil wants to start over completely and get a buttload of picks and young talent and we'd be the wrong club for that. We have young talent, but would the Knicks give up a guy like Mo to get Giannis? Probably, but I expect they'd hold the line and get them to take someone else.

I've said all along I expect Giannis knows whom he wants to play for and to leverage that. In theory the Bucks could trade him to anyone, but I doubt the other club will get in bed with Giannis if he doesn't want to be there.

This is not Donovan Mitchell being sent to Cleveland. It is an MVP we're talking about here. The way the NBA operates these days with Silver letting Luka go to LA for squat, who knows what the designated team is, but I think we can be certain the NBA has their fingers in anything like a Giannis trade as well.

Giannis wants to play for a chip so I don't think he's going to be gifted to a rebuilding team. We should expect him to join other star talent when he is traded.

Knicks need to maximize Brunson's closing window. You go get Giannis.

If the Knicks don't make the Finals or at least don't have an incredibly promising ECF, I think Giannis will be on team.

So far, the regular season process has not been promising for this core group of guys.

ramtour420 @ 4/6/2026 11:20 AM
Only the playoffs matter this point. Let's see how it goes. I am not attached at the hip with anyone other than Shamet. And Brunson. I want a great run.

Simple. Run more plays for OG and KAT.

I’m not trading either of them for Giannis.

martin @ 4/7/2026 9:12 AM
Everyone could see this coming except for the Bucks?

Nalod @ 4/7/2026 8:21 PM
Giannis kinda being a dick also. Both parties pussyfooting about got them here.
