Also still blown away we fired thibs for mike brown. In my opinion this team was better coached under thibs.
Thibs didn't invest in Kolek though and probably wouldn't play him now either
Thibs played the young guys when they were ready and there was a rotation opportunity. Like Deuce.
Yes and No.
Thibs biggest and best move was moving Grimes into the starting line-up after starting the season with a terrible record because Fournier was a lamp post and it saved that season. Thibs was on his way to getting fired if he didn't make that move and it was one of the best decisions he ever made. They went on a run after that with Grimes' defense and shooting in the mix.
Thibs got fired because he wouldn't expand his rotation and only until late in last year's playoffs did he do it after everyone was screaming at him to go deeper into the bench. When he did it helped, but it was already too late.
Thibs did not invest in Kolek. The few times Kolek played outside of garbage time he played really well and Thibs responded by benching him. There was no correlation to the player's performance, just Thibs own internal logic.
The meme that only when they were ready did Thibs play someone is a corny myth. It was only true some of the time. Thibs had his strengths and weaknesses, but one of his immense weaknesses was the inability to make in-game adjustments. His roster changes often took weeks or months to happen due to his rigidity. His substitution patterns were almost always fixed and grew stale and unresponsive to live scenarios. This is why opposing coaches were able to exploit us so much, because Thibs often let mismatches continue due to his stubborn rotation patterns. He was not spontaneous when improvisation was required.

Knicks play the Thunder pretty tough and made them look beatable twice. Just couldn't finish it off, but it's certainly a different experience then playing DET this year. It seems KAT gets picked on way more by the elite teams, which is why it can be so glaring in a playoff series. They were going at him every time, and whenever we made a run he killed us with a bonehead play. That flagrant after we had taken 1 a point lead in the second half was brutal. There were a couple other instances as well where he destroyed a push by the team.
4th seed might even be preferred to the 3rd seed at this point with Cade's situation. Doesn't seem like a huge difference in opponent, although TOR is obv the matchup we want.

While I won't defend GTA he was desired for a reason and Im guessing his defense is needed over Kolek's. Kolek has shown a lot more than I thought this year but obviously some of think there is another gear, but coach brown does not trust it yet. If Deuce is to return and Shamet healthy I think GTA becomes a very short rotataion/situation guy for playoffs. But Deuce leaving the court last night as he did is worrisome.
Thought Thought the knicks did fine last nigth but can't close out the champs. The Defense was there and they got the stops but OKC pulled away when they needed to.
Knicks won't see them again unless they go to the finals but if they are to succeed they will need to solve the call disparity. Knicks are doing fine. Is it enough? Is there another gear? Stay healthy? Stay tuned!

You thought Kolek was a playable rotation player last year? Especially on a team with deep playoffs intentions?
Cause he wasn't and that was clear as day

The refs are really getting out of control bad.
Philc1@ 3/30/2026 8:58 AM
2.5 games out of the 2 seed and 7 games left. At least we get a favorable matchup in round 1 with either raptors or hawks
SergioNYK@ 3/30/2026 9:34 AM
Despite being minus 21 at the FT attempts, 18 turnovers, allowing 12 offensive rebounds and only scoring 100 points on 44%, this was a two point game with about 5 minutes left. Give OKC credit. They are defending champs for a reason. They know how to manipulate the retarded zebras and SGA took over in those final five minutes and nobody punched back. And we had good looks! Brunson missed a FT jumper, OG missed a step back three, Mikal and KAT both missed wide open threes themselves and meanwhile OKC went on a 10-0 run to seal it.
If we have games in the playoffs where KAT becomes Joakim Noah on offense, we are not going to win. Hell, we might not even make it out of the first round! Something is fucking wrong when Alvarado, who I agree should be demoted and benched, get's more shots and opportunities than him! This is all on Brown and KAT! Brown for not featuring KAT and KAT himself for being content being a backup singer! Especially during those non-Brunson minutes!
Bench was awful. I feel so bad for Deuce! First play he blocks SGA! I really REALLY hope it's nothing serious! We NEED him! Especially against those teams like Atlanta and Charlotte who can shoot from three! Hart and Mikal played well. Mikal had some dumb turnovers but his shot is coming along.
OKC is good! You have to play a very disciplined game defensively and you cannot beat yourself with turnovers and offensive rebounds. Both games against them have been close but we have to play near perfect to beat them.
As for the seeding and fighting for the second seed, I honestly could care less. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, I do not care. MSG is NOT a homecourt advantage! I actually think this team plays more focused on the road. I just hope we can survive the injury bug and get through these next few games as healthy as possible We are NOT a team that can survive a big injury. We need everyone if we are getting back to the conference finals.
And lastly, happy 81st to Clyde!

I do not want to play a healthy Philly or Miami.

I would have liked to get home court advantage against the C’s but yes. Hawks without Trae or Toronto who we own is a way softer matchup rd 1

Hawks are 16-4 in last 20 games.

Man, I wish Brunson got calls like SGA … like wtf SGA kinda played like trash but the refs bail him out every single time … why the fuck don’t they do that for our star in Brunson who actually gets real contact . We actually looked better on tape than they did in this game … we only lost because they went to the FT line 38 times, SGA went 17 times we only went 16 times…. WHAT THE ACTUAL F UCK is that !!!
We should be on the phone with the commissioner after a game like that file an actual complaint and ask for a investigation…. With the way sports betting is? I don’t put anything past the refs … they want there bag too.
The amount of whistles that were absolute BS in this game, especially for SGA was any touch . Meanwhile Kat and Brunson get man handled with zero whistles when that happens … when Kat got the flagrant foul they should have overturned it prior to the elbow Kat 100% got fouled . Again it really makes you wonder if the nba is rigged.
That’s trash and that’s ruining the nba … The NBA needs to put a stop on one sided refereeing.
fitzfarm@ 3/30/2026 9:31 PM
Back to thibs, he had this team more prepared, he didn’t accept anything less than 1000% effort . We were one game away from the chip and we dethroned the Celtics the series before …
I hate to say it because I want us in the chip but we have to turn up the volume by a lot if we even want to get to the eastern conference finals let alone the actual championship.

We need to focus on round one.

I'll never quite understand this decision by the NBA and referee group. They know it's happening; they see it happening; they watch video of it happening; and they watch players, coaches and fans complain about it.
And yet nothing changes.
There are reasons for this? Got to be?
I don't get it.
