Knicks · Who got next: Celtics or 76ers? (page 1)

Nalod @ 5/1/2026 10:20 AM

I kept an eye on 76ers and stated "Trechery Lurks at the bottom". With Parity Orlando and Philly are proven to be big pains for these top seeds. At the same time Detroit despite owning us are not matched up well vs. Orlando.
I want Orlando to close out Pistons but fear Cav's who one has to assume will advance could run Magic in a short series.
If it plays that way and knicks advance then the preseaon thoughts reset that Cav's and knicks were the best in the east.

Bit suprised Toronto is giving Clev a hard time but this one could be over soon enough.
Boston last night is what they do. Live or die by the long ball. philly is wild card. PG13 is still a very good player, a HOF talent as is Embiid. Maxey is an allstar talent and Edgecome gets nice open looks which he executes well. They are dangerous and not quite the upset on paper if they pull it off. If they do Embiid gets stronger. Part of me wants to see Kat-Mitch-OG on Embiid.

Who do we want? Why?

martin @ 5/1/2026 10:35 AM
Embiid will fall and hurt someone. Boston

This.

Hate Boston, but I can respect them. No respect for Embiid or trust he won't pull some dirty stunt.

If Philly does move on though, I look forward to hearing "Fuck Embiid" serenade the night.

Swishfm3 @ 5/1/2026 12:16 PM
I rooting Boston. Knicks may hold the advantage when it comes to the bench, but, with a healthy Embiid, I feel they are pretty even when it comes to starters.

I want the easiest path possible for the Knicks and I think that facing Boston, where we hold the size advantage and playing against a compromised Tatum.

.....If there is still life after the second round, I'm just going to say it now...I don't want any parts of Orlando. Let them take care of Detroit for us and, hopefully, THEY lose to either Cleveland/Toronto

+1. That grabbing Mitch by the knee two years ago was DIRTY.
I have no issue with Boston as a team. They are skilled and I respect them.

SergioNYK @ 5/1/2026 4:11 PM
I honestly do not care and I expect to beat either team the way we played the last 3 games. I guess I'd slightly prefer Boston cause Embiid is a dirty POS and I'm worried he'll try to take out one of our key guys again. And we had issues against Edgecomb and of course Maxey is an impossible guard. But the Villanova Knicks own Philadelphia and always play well so there is that! Celtics are experienced, motivated for revenge and really good when they hit their threes. Boston is also not an easy place to play.

IDC KNICKS IN 6!!!

EwingsGlass @ 5/2/2026 8:51 AM
I’m fine with either, but for style points, Celts. Though I’d prefer the home court advantage of the 76ers.

The KAT-Control Knicks are the exact model I love to see. They need to be tighter against the Celts but I think we have the deeper team.

nycericanguy @ 5/2/2026 10:15 AM
No preference, you can make a case for either team being "easier", but we don't need the easiest path, we need to keep sharpening the knife.

PHI can fall apart any moment physically, but if they can stay healthy for another 2 weeks, they have a very balanced, deep and talented team. With 3 guys that can take over any given game.

BOS looks very beatable, and weak inside. but they have two guys who can be the best players in a playoff series and are playoff proven. they could have easily beaten us last year if they don't blow those 20 point leads. They can get hot from 3 at any given moment. White has been bad but how much longer does he shoot so poorly?

I think we can beat with team in 6 though, but BOS also has HCA so we'd almost have to beat them in 6 b/c game 7 in BOS could easily go either way.

BlueKnickers @ 5/2/2026 11:27 AM
I also prefer Boston mostly because I would fully expect that dirty POS Embiid to injure our guys

Winning fair and square is what I want for our team. Tough, tenacious defense, but no attempts to injure the opposition

Embiid should have been suspended for a whole season years ago for the crap he pulls, but our commissioner is such an overwhelming whore to the almighty dollar that it will never happen. I'll let Phil and Nalod hammer out the details

markvmc @ 5/2/2026 8:43 PM
Philly. Home advantage.

I don’t care about which team we face so this would be my tiebreaker. Just having home court.

fitzfarm @ 5/2/2026 9:51 PM
Both these teams aren’t on our level sloppy play by both teams . I honestly don’t care, watching this game we probably would sweep both unless they have a game where they can’t miss.

Boston struggles as soon as a team forces them off the 3 point line . Lack of playmakers is prevalent for Boston.

Philly goes as Joel goes

Home court is nice so slightly leaning towards Philly as we would ruin dirty Joel .

fitzfarm @ 5/2/2026 9:56 PM
Boston is clueless on what to do when you defend the 3 that last chuck by white was the perfect example of guard the 3 and Boston is stunted. Again either team is not even close to our talent .
fitzfarm @ 5/2/2026 9:59 PM
That’s it it’s Philly!! Heck yeah !
NardDogNation @ 5/2/2026 10:00 PM
Looks like it's gonna be PHI. Hopefully Embiid gets hard fouled into a woodchipper before their win becomes official. That dirtbag intentionally tried hurting Jaylen Brown this game and I'm sure he'll do it to us again in our series.

I'm not concerned about either team...but I am concerned that Embiid will intentionally injure someone and F up our push to the Finals. I'm hoping we add Tonya Harding to Nancy Kerrigan his ass before that happens.

Hahaha . Dude if Joel injures one of our guys he better hire an entourage of X military Marines… have you seen our fans on the street after games lol they will put a hit out on Joel if he pulls that bs.

fitzfarm @ 5/2/2026 10:37 PM
Honestly not facing Boston was a gift . Now we have home court, and again talent wise we are the superior team and it’s not even close. Maybe Philly sneaks out a win at home but honestly, I’m fully expecting a sweep.

God-willing. If something happens to one of our players, I'd be willing to be part of that get-back mob. I'm not sure if you're familiar with my posts and how negative/pessimistic they tend to be...but for the first time since '24 (and ever in my 38 years), I feel like we are a legit title contender. That impending OKC-SAS series slugfest might even make us favorites IF we stay healthy. A dirtbag like Embiid could play spoiler to that especially once they get embarrassed (and they will be embarrassed).

My sentiments exactly

DLeethal @ 5/3/2026 6:00 AM
I was pretty much indifferent, but I couldn't help but root for Philly to win last night, so maybe something deep down said they were the preferred matchup. First 2 games at MSG is probably a major reason why.

I honestly don't think "it's not even close" in terms of talent though. They have more talent than Boston does and IMO it showed in this series. Maxey - Edgecomb - George - Embiid can stack up with any starting unit in terms of talent. They aren't very deep, and we should be able to light up Embiid in PnR unless they can successfully hide him on Hart. I like our chances, but they are not going to be easy.
