I guess he is better than Hukporti....As solid as backups come. Has a post game and is probably like a top 5 rebounder. Not the worst possible outcome. Slow as heck tho and he cannot defend a road cone.
Interestingly enough he has that 3 point shot and he can pass pretty well for a center. Could totally spell Towns for 15-20 mins a game. I do not hate this at all, actually
He does have vet experience and can rebound but is slow as maple syrup and unsure how he can rotate defensively they way we play. I would rather have stuck with Hukporti for slightly less money and continued to coach him up. Huk probably would have stayed if he knew Mitch was out but we can't turn back the clock. I suspect this was a safety move and we are still trying to figure out a big. If not do we still have Jemison or a 2 way big available to sign?
Good. Not an exciting pick up, but necessary and made the most sense for a budget center. First name that came to mind when Mitch was in doubt.
Still need another C though, but would've been devastating if we struck out completely.
OK, Knicks recreating Giambi in the aggregate I guess
This off-season is a success in my book. Without this signing I was feeling anxious. We got back all the key pieces we could for very reasonable deals. Mitch I wish the best but the inability to work on his game was unacceptable. Andre developed A3 point shot after like 10+ years in the league. Because it's a thing nowadays. Much props

He would have been my choice for a backup. But we'll see
Probably got sick of us ending his season.
It's an excellent signing
Brings you so many more skills than Mitch at 25% of the cost

It's like what someone was saying earlier. Mitch is very one dimensional but elite at it. And we could get someone who isn't quite as amazing at one thing but makes up for it in other areas
Hopefully he makes a Brooke Lopez late career 3 point extravaganza jump

Crossing my fingers McCullar is still part of the plan
He is the last of the unsigned players I strongly feel we need to bring back
He was my first guess as to who they would try to sign. They will get a third center as well and our lineup will be set.

It’s probably like 10% cost - with passing and 3point shooting and screening - but not the 3point switch ability but that’s it?

I'm not sure most people realize it yet, but Drummond's career averages in most areas are quite good.
He's one of the best rebounders of the past decade and still gets that done.
His shooting figures are good for a center and his 3P% is more than respectable.
Keep an eye out for how we implement him, because of his passing ability. Wayyyy better than Mitch and he will get some nice assists for us.
His defense around the rim does exist. He is not a revolving door, he averages over a block per game in part-time minutes. He just doesn't have a lot of range defensively. That is the primary thing he can't fill in for Mitch's absence with.
But in most respects, he is still a more skilled player than Mitch will ever be. You won't see Hack-a-Drummond against us.
He's big and slow, but he's a legit backup center.
We'll likely be adding one more center. I still doubt Deuce (and maybe Dadiet) will be here for training camp so there's still some roster flexibility with deals they can make.
Andre shot 36% from 3 last year during the regular season.
Jalen, KAT and Diawara shot 37% during the regular season.
I’m sure they are all in the same class. Somehow.
