I was sure Knecht was an nba rotation player in the league, so this is a very interesting pickup. I am surprised it got to this point with him. Surprised they kept Bronny over him to be honest. And as far as the McCullar aspect of this, I’ll just say I don’t think at this point he’s proven enough to stick in the nba.

I'm bummed about this. Never really watched Knecht play but I always felt McCullar had potential to be a solid rotational player. His play actually reminded me a lot of Hart.

What about McCullar reminded you of Hart? Other than being a 6’5 athlete ? Hart is an elite rebounder, playmaker and one-man fast break. He also has the strength to guard up. McCullar doesn’t possess any of those traits. I’m out on McCullar because I liked him as a college player and none of the skills he had at Kansas translated. At least Knecht has real potential as a specialist. Having he and Nickel in the pipeline as shooters is a great thing. There is a path there for them. There was just no path for McCullar because he doesn’t do 1 thing really well at the nba level.

I was sure that Adkins would be the cut once I saw Knecht signed. Def suprised by McCullar being let go.

Knecht rookie year he played 78 games at 20mins per. 9ppm at 46%-fg 37%-3pt. That is valuable experience and production for a young available 2-way guy.

Interesting he didn't make the cut in LA.

I like the move. I think Knecht has real potential. He had 37pts in the Elite eight game against no 1 ranked Purdue.

Wasn't this guy a rookie of the year runner-up where am I confusing him with somebody else

Damn! I liked McCullers! He did well when given the chance those few games last season.

But welcome Knecht! Don't know a damn thing about him but best of luck to him!

Don’t know Knecht as a player but do wonder what Tyler Knickel thinks of this move and playing time opportunity

The last time we took on one of the Lakers castaways, we got Linsanity.

The bar is now set, do not disappoint Knecht!

Yeah they are similar but I think it’s fine. Technically if the Knicks moved Dadiet, they could bring both Nickel and Knecht onto the active roster. Then maybe backfill 2-way spots with a big man.

Change that to the state of California and you got it. He was a Warriors cast off.

FO is always tweaking at the margins

You never know when #15 in the rotation one day moves up to #7 in the rotation

From this description, I'm guessing Knecht and Nickel will now be in direct competition with one another to get into the rotation as a 3 point specialist

Nickel's defense in SL was better than expected, so perhaps he will have an edge over Knecht

The third-year man can still impact the Knicks. He’s just 25 years old and is an above-average shooter with size. In his final year in college, he averaged 21.7PPG on 45.8% shooting from the field and 39.7% shooting from three. It’s not every day you can find that kind of shooting at his height on the waiver wire. But there are plenty of reasons why he saw his minutes dwindle and why he eventually was waived.

Despite being 6’6”, Knecht isn’t much of a defender. He can get lost defensively, and even if he manages to be in the right spots at the right times, he just does not possess the athleticism to be much of a factor on that end. Offensively, he’s shown flashes of being able to utilize his shot to get to other spots on the floor. When a part of the rotation, he was making nice reads off the ball and routinely had nice timely cuts to get easy looks at the rim. But at the end of the day, he’s still best utilized as a spot-up shooter and only a spot-up shooter. He can’t create for himself due to a lack of a reliable handle and certainly doesn’t create for others.

JJ likley a tough one for Kinect/KXT/Knecht as he might see a bit of himself in him. A kid that came into the league and had to build his body to defend, cut, and basically get open. Once done JJ become a solid pro, and wealthy one at that! Perhaps JJ was a bit too tough on him for that reason?
Reports were Bronny is standing on his own fairly well. Lebron haters would love to see him fail, but the kid been showing up.

With Reaves coming back and perhaps some degree of Knehct not fulifilling his potential the quota of sharp shooting slowish white dude back court player is full. Other factors could be his agent needs to get him out of there to a situation were he could get an opportunity.

Kevin McCullars is a good kid. At 6-5 and fairly athletic he was likley both a 2 and 3. I never saw him as a Josh Hart type of player. He is not soft, but not that kind of Dog as is Josh. He is a thick kid who can defend the 2, 3 or 4. Not Kevin.

Is it a good sign for Dadiet? Perhaps he is ascending in the pecking order? Or getting ready to be included in a trade.
What about Deuce? This a prelude to a trade for him?
