I thought they did well without their best two pitchers. They'll be back next year. Go Mets!!
ultknicks524 @ 10/20/2006 12:14 AM
Im going to listen to WFAN all night to listen to the crying and whining.

I truly feel bad for the good Mets fans but to the Mets fans and the Mets executives who celebrated and high fived each other when the Yankees lost, F*** Y***. You lost to such an inferior team, its not even funny.

the tigers are pretty much gonna own the cardinals unless Jeff Weaver & Jeff Suppan have a repeat performance of the NLCS.

i thought the Mets did pretty well for not having any pitchers, but come on, that $150 million dollar lineup didn't hit for crap... reminded me of how the Yankees looked against the Tigers... i actually thought the Mets were gonna win this game after that crazy catch Chavez made.
nyballer @ 10/20/2006 12:39 AM
hey, we got to game 7 of the NLCS without our 2 best playoff pitchers, our best setup man, and our left fielder. we pick up zito this offseason and we're in the WS, legit contenders.

What happened to the supposed "American League" lineup which was going to bash anything the NL throws at them.

What happened to the greatest 3B in the history of baseball David Wright?

Im so pumped. I took so much crap from Mets fans when the Yankees lost. Tomorrow is going to be heaven.

I'm not unhappy about the loss, but that was a truly great play by Chavez.
buddapaw @ 10/20/2006 12:49 AM
Well the wheel on the ragged pitching wagon finally fell off. I thought Willie should have used someone to bunt the runners over instead of using Cliff.
King1 @ 10/20/2006 1:38 AM
You got beat by a team that won 83 games, lost Mulder, their closer, Pujuols had a bad hamstring and Rolen played with a bad shoulder. We suck but it will sure be fun getting swept by the Tigers. Go cards

You must be loving this King! Cards in the World Series, the Rams at 5-0.

Yanks fan here so its always nice to see the Mets lose.
EnySpree @ 10/20/2006 2:14 AM
How many championships does the yanks have?

How many times did the mets win a true subway series for the trophy?

Yankees will never be second.

All you met fans out there that like to kick the yanks when they are down, this loss should be routine for you! Suck it up. Its not like it hasn't happened before. You have some great experience in that respect. That in itself is AMAZING!

I see a lot of yankee fans celebrating because this is their opportunity to gloat about a $200 million team that lost in the ALDS. The mets lost, but with reyes and wright at 23, the mets have a brighter future than almost anyone in the league. If they can add another starting pitcher they become one of the best teams in the league, hands down. I don't like the yankees, but they haven't won a WS in a few years either. it's good that the mets and yanks are at the top of their leagues at the same time again.

Actually, the 26 world series the Yankees have won gives us the opportunity to gloat.

Haha...As a Yankee fan, I have been saying that every year for the last 10 years. The difference is that in my case, this is true.
jazz74 @ 10/20/2006 8:36 AM
you know what, as a met fan, i am not going to make excuses. true, it would have been different if we were totally healthy but the cards were banged up too. we had our opportunities throughout the series and blew it. leaving countless people in scoring position throughout the series is not the pitchers fault especially with the "firepower" we have. however, we have to remember that this is the first playoffs for most of the players dealing with unpredictable circumstances concerning injuries and delays. sure they did well in the season but we played a playoff tested team with a hall of fame manager. they knew what they were doing. so it is good experience and i know that we will have a good offseason and make changes (ramirez and zito?). with that said, i know that i can say that we have a much brighter future than the over the hill overpaid yankees who "choked" the first round. at least we took the cardinals to the limit of the league championship while jeter and rodriguez was home watching the whole thing.
