BTW, Gardner rates is a plus, plus baserunner...80 on the speed scale and he can pick it in the OF. He could be a valuable reserve soon.
Also sounds like Edwar will be up for Karstens soon, maybe the end of the week.
i suppose you're right about Cairo... it's just a shame to see guys who've labored all year to help this team win games to be cast aside like yesterday's garbage when guys like Giambi who haven't been contributing at all this season make their return... but i realize it's all about upgrading the roster to give ourselves the best chance to win games in the playoffs.

"Just listen to these fans, 30 years in the making, pack up the tailgates we are going to Detroit"
You guys think you have it bad as Knick fans, try being a Knick, Mariner and Seahawk fan. In my lifetime, approximately 78 years of rooting for these three teams and I got squat.
damn, i didn't know u were that old bro... u don't look a day over 60.
Yes I do look great for my age............I meant to say combined seasons of rooting. I'm actually 33. Lived in Seattle until the fall of my 7th year and that's when I first actually started rooting for pro sports. Then moved to New York in just enough time to catch the Knicks on channel 9. They quickly became a Knick fan. All the same year. That's 26 seasons each.
Kay just reported that Bruney knocked over a chair on the way out of the clubhouse... i can't say as i blame him... how can they send this guy down when he's been pretty solid for us all year in favor of some journeyman?

And Karstens too? What does Karstens offer over Bruney at this point (being on the DL practically all year).
If we make the playoffs the bullpen could be Edwar, Joba, Hughes, Viscaino, Rivera.
Quite a switch
edwar is not a good pitcher. that changeup is wicked but once the scouting report is out, he won't last in the majors for more than 2-3 days at best.
chamberlain has the stuff to be the heir apparent to mariano.
Betimit was a big time prospect with the braves, the yankees have been watching this guy for a couple of years now.
Rivera last night was throwing cheese. he looks well rested....

More like the heir apparent to Clemens..He will be a starter...

that would be nice...but after watching mariano for the past 10+ years, having a closer is all the difference in the world when it comes to championships.
if joba can become a new mariano, i would rather have that.

The last two games Mariano saved, the gun registered 97 mph..Those things aren't always accurate..But jeez, this guy is still cranking it after 11 years in his role as a reliever.. Simply amazing...I just hope the Yanks can built a new young core to go with its young arms to contend for another 10 years...I can't believe the discussions turns to these Yankees having young arms..
The farm system is weilding results the past couple of seasons. I'm anxious to see the prospect we got in the Sheffield trade.
Joba was looking great out there today, but one outting may be a bit too early to declare him the next Mariano or Rocket.
I'd also like to see DeSalvo back in the bullpen to atleast shore things up. He had a couple rocky outings, but no more than Farnsworth.

yea, the gun may lie at times, but the guys at the plate don't, and 3 good fastball hitters, rios, wells and thomas all were late on rivera's heat..
I think a big part of mo looking good now is that he is getting a lot of rest and not being overworked, if we can do that, mo can be good for another 3 years at least....

yea, that upsets me too. Cairo is a class act and is the type of guy that will give you those tough at bats to keep inning alive in Huge games... I much rather have giambi optioned.... really. It is a shame In NY, people crave the stars, the A-rods and Damons, that is why we overpay for them instead of playing guys like melky and phillips who are playing well, hell, I melky is playing so much better than damon, it is not funny!!!

yea, that is more BS. I guess they are trying to send a message.... Geez, I hate that for Bruney!!
I'm pissed about Cairo too. Very valuable sub. After a game one day me and the wife went looking in the stadium store - I wanted a Cairo shirt bad! They didn't have any. I was almost thinking about having one made up. I would've worn that proudly. Oh well. He can play almost every position and play them well. He looked real good at first there for awhile. Always seemed to to have real good ABs when it counted. Real tough to strike out... Always liked him.
Loved Bruney too. But did anyone notice that his velocity was slightly down from last year. Consistantly at 96+ last year, this year down in the 93 mph range most games. Wonder if it's mechanics or whatever, but I'd love to get him straightened out and back in the pen for the stretch run. He's got a power arm and he can help us.
Who are the lefties in the pen right now? Is Henn back up now that Myers got the boot? I hope so. Henn can help us out there. 92, 93 with a good slider. Stop jerking this kid around and keep him up out there. Best lefthanded specialist option we have - right from spring training. Glad Myers is gone. You think a guy like Ortiz is scared to face a guy like Myers? Come on. The better lefties in the league were licking their chops when Torre went to Myers in a big spot... Lefties were hitting over .300 against him.
Was coming back from a wake tonight and drove like a madman home to see Chamberlain. Made it just in time. Grabbed the chips and ran right for the bedroom! Man, what an arm. Free and easy, 96+, hit 99 once and I don't think he really even cranked it up. Great slider. Awesome option out of the pen now but I'd love to see him start eventually - I see another Justin Verlander with this guy. Very similar, stuff wise. Can't wait to see other jewels we have down there like Dellin Betances and Christian Garcia...
Is it me or did anyone else expect Phil Hughes to threw a little harder than what the gun's saying. Thought he was supposed to be at 95 with the heat but his fastball sits in the high 80s, low 90s mostly. So much for scout.com. LOL! Anyway, still has above average stuff overall and still has a great future. This kid should've made the big league team right outta spring training.
The one thing that always kills me about these guys are that they just murder mediocre pitching and usually get shut down against an above average pitcher. They distroy a guy like Towers, OK, but now show me something tomorrow against Halladay or against a guy like Sabathia this weekend, you know what I'm saying. But at least they're starting to really hit the ball - looks like we got all of our leftys straightened out and that's big. We got a little bit of our moxie back now, you can see it! Good for them man, I'm proud of the fellas...
The yanks are bringing sexy back.
I must admitt I was dead on the yanks too. The youth shall set them free!
Yankees have to maintain this momentum. Its starting to look like this is starting to look like how they are gonna look every night.
Cashman was so right to put the breaks on. The Yankees are stacked in the farm.
I don't know what to say. Its just exciting times for the yanks. The spirit is back. It feels like the pre-torre years when jeter, posada, Bernie, mariano, and pettite were coming up.
the schedule gets brutal - @det, @laa, det, bos
