the schedule gets brutal - @det, @laa, det, bos
djsunyc @ 8/8/2007 10:07 AM
btw, i was never a clemens fan but i liked how he hit rios last night.

hopefully hughes and chamberlain got that same fight in them.
EnySpree @ 8/8/2007 12:00 PM
Clemens is a ball player. When he's playing he is all in it for his team. I didn't like him when he first became a Yankee either. I respect the dude on how he approaches the game.

@det, @laa, det, bos is when the real season starts! I gotta get to one of those games.
TMS @ 8/8/2007 4:17 PM
I for one have tons of respect for Rocket... he's an old school guy, & i love that... the way he had Arod's back is the way i want all the Yankees to be... Shelley Duncan's slide into 2B was awesome too, & it was clean.

Why scrubs like Josh Towers feel they have a right to start talking smack to Arod or Tony Pena is beyond me... just shut yer trap already before u get sent back down to AAA... he's lucky Arod didn't go clean his clock.

as for Joba, the kid reminds me of a young Rocket in physical appearance... he's a monster out there... that 99 mph heater was reminiscent of a young Rocket too, & that nasty slider is something else... he just needs to find better location on the fastball, cuz the Jays hitters were catching up to it w/no problems it seemed... it's a little straight too... maybe he should mix in a 2 seamer to get more movement on the ball to keep guys honest.

Finestrg, Villone is our lefty specialist right now... he's done a solid job this year, & Myers couldn't get lefties out anyway, so he was useless... that guy Brower is a bum, i have no idea why he's on this team right now... Bruney was much better even though he's had a bad month... my guess is he's going down to work on his mechanics a little & he'll be back in no time... they're also going to give Edwar Ramirez another look & send Karstens down i'm hearing... he could be our Ramiro Mendoza if the chips fall the right way... he's got a very nice changeup & a plus fastball.

as for who the next Mariano will be, there never will be another Mariano ever... but i think that kid Dellin Betances will be our closer of the future... the kid is 6'8" & throws a 98 mph heater at the age of 18... Mariano is still good for another 2-3 years... by then, this kid should be ready to hit the big stage... Joba is going to be a starter next season, bank on that.

Right, forgot about Villone for a sec. I'm a 'tard. He's been solid this year...

But you see what I mean about going up against good pitchers. It's like they tease the shit outta ya. Distroy middle-of-the-road pitchers, then have trouble with above average pitching. Whatever. Same story... Just finish off Toronto and kill the Tribe this weekend. Looking forward to seeing this series this weekend!
Finestrg @ 8/8/2007 10:15 PM
I think we actually miss Sabathia this weekend - big plus. No excuses not to take this series coming up...
TMS @ 8/8/2007 10:55 PM
damn, wang got his hat handed to him tonight... ah well, it happens... he's still the man.

cano continues his tear w/a pair of dingers... he's hitting almost .500 since the Allstar break... if this keeps up he can legitimately challenge for the batting title this year after having a pisspoor 2 months to start the season... crazy.
Allanfan20 @ 8/9/2007 12:40 AM
It's not Wang I'm worried about, but more so Karstens. He showed a lot of promise last year, and this season, he has shown nothing, even before his injuries.
TMS @ 8/9/2007 1:03 AM
i was never all that high on Karstens to begin with... he projects to nothing much more than a #5 type starter for us... you can interchange him w/Rasner & get pretty much the same results... he isn't a longterm viable option for us w/better prospects like Kennedy & Horne coming up in the next couple years anyway... i'd like to use him as a trade chip if we can in the offseason... using him now is only lessening his trade value... he needs to get his act straight & show something before he gets sent back down to AAA for good.
Allanfan20 @ 8/9/2007 2:39 AM
^Agreed.
kam77 @ 8/10/2007 9:49 PM
Mister lover-man ... JOBA!

Another 4 strikeouts... in two innings of work.

Nice.
MaTT4281 @ 8/10/2007 11:38 PM
Great night tonight. Joba pitched excellent again, and we pick up a game on Seattle, Detroit, Cleveland, and Boston. Not much more you could ask for.
WOODMANnYk @ 8/10/2007 11:57 PM
YANKEES WIN! THE YANKEES WIN!

i'm thinkin along those lines also... why else did the yanks dump Proctor and Myers if they didn't have a plan up their sleeve
kam77 @ 8/11/2007 4:36 AM
hughes is pretty good too
djsunyc @ 8/11/2007 11:11 AM
just sign santana next offseason.

if the new stadium rolls out a starting 4 of santana, hughes, wang, and joba...it's a wrap.
VDesai @ 8/11/2007 1:44 PM
We might get to see Ian Kennedy in the rocket's spot next week. He's another flat out stud coming through the system who will be rotation ready next year (if not now).
JohnWallace44 @ 8/12/2007 2:08 AM
Whoever is coaching these guys in the minors has to get a raise.
TMS @ 8/12/2007 9:29 AM
Nardy Contreras... either he deserves a raise, or the scouts do... those morons who claimed the Yankees have nothing in their farm system are eating crow bigtime these days...

Melky, Cano, Wang, Hughes, Joba, Duncan, Kennedy, Horne, Tabata, Betances, Jackson, Sanchez, Ohlendorf, Duncan, Gardner... shall i continue? the future is BRIGHT Yankee fans! don't believe the haters who don't know jack about us... they're so caught up in believing anything & everything they see & hear on ESPN to know any better.
JohnWallace44 @ 8/12/2007 4:32 PM
another win for the good guys.

Cano is an insane hitter. He's going to put up some big numbers for us before he's done.
