hindsight is 20/20 bonn. with posada coming back and molina healthy, plus with these 2 young catchers, it would've been overload.

Yeah, I'm not criticizing Cashman for this one--just making an observation.

Why?

Why what? Why am I not criticizing him? Why am I making an observation?

we have a 3rd string rookie catcher making minor league salary batting .313 on the season & throwing out 44% of baserunners w/o committing any errors & calling great games behind the plate who's all of 23 years old & the organization is currently very high on... Pudge didn't do squat as a Yankee last year, the pitchers had horrible #'s throwing to him, he's 37 years old & making $1.5 mil this year w/a .268 BA in the NL, worse than the top 3 catchers on our roster, & people still think we should've held onto him... unbelievable.
GKFv2 @ 5/23/2009 5:46 PM
So when the Yankees face a real team they start losing again. Nice.
TMS @ 5/23/2009 6:11 PM
i thought Andy pitched a great game w/the exception of 1 mistake pitch to a rookie hitter in his major league debut... even holding this lineup to 4 runs over 7 is no easy feat... Yankee bats have been quiet these first 2 games other than a couple HR's... they can't fall back into the bad habit of relying on the longball to score their runs... gotta keep getting guys on base, working counts & being patient at the plate... move runners over, manufacture runs... still got 2 innings to score a couple runs... let's hope they have another late inning rally in them.

You seem to switch back and forth between citing batting average and citing OPS depending on which one better suits your argument.

They were losing. They won in the bottom of the 9th against Lidge. I want to see them win a game from the 1st to the 9th and not just the 9th. Lidge sucks. Show me you can hit good pitching.
djsunyc @ 5/23/2009 11:11 PM
they come from behind to win. sorry that this *win* doesn't fit into your idea of a *win*. no offense broham, but you're a tool. you give yankee fans a bad name.
GKFv2 @ 5/23/2009 11:21 PM
No offense, but you're a homer. They beat on the Twins and Orioles. I want to see them beat a real team, that's all. It's not my fault you want to be a douche about it. I love the Yankees. I also want to see them play well so they can win the World Series. Come from behind wins are good and all and I'm very happy they won but they still have a lot to prove. Go be a jerk and try to "own" someone somewhere else. You're no better of a fan than me because you're a homer and I am not. Give me a break.

lol @ the term homer...as if being a "homer" is a bad thing...lol...

now you're downgrading wins against the twins and the orioles. if they don't beat those teams, then they have no chance for the postseason. but they are. that's what good teams do. oh, and the twins won 90+ games in something like 7 of the past 8 seasons.

try to "own" - what the heck does that even mean? is that some young buck internet thing?

I didn't downgrade the wins. Obviously they should beat them. They have the talent to do that. But they also have the talent to not underachieve and lose to repeatedly to teams like the Red Sox or whomever else. ll I ask is that they step up for the games against the good-great teams. They don't have to win every series or game. I just want to see that they can go toe to toe with those teams before I begin putting full-on praise on them.

can we talk about the past 2 weeks now? the bullpen's era is 2.70. the reason? starters finally give them 6+ innings. do you watch the yankee games?

I think you missed the irony in what you said to GKFv2. Fans who proclaim something before any results is what gives a team a bad name. Or still trying to support it even though it isn't true. But but the last 2 weeks...

but i have a crystal ball you fool...
