We won the game, what else can you say, that's the way this team's built. When everyone is healthy, we can put up enough runs to pick up a pitcher coming off the DL. Wang is going to need more starts to get in his groove and he can count on this team to get the win even if he struggles. That's called chemistry and it's a good thing. This team is playing with alot of confidence and I like it. You can dog Wang all you want, but he's a starter and he's going to start as long as he's healthy.

Interesting stats. Looks like A-Jax might project to be a quality average hitter with nice gap power but might not neccessarily be a big HR threat power, although it's still early and sometimes power develops later with some guys (Bernie comes to mind right away). Strikeout totals are a little alarming but he's fast and is supposed to be a quality OFer with a plus arm. Might be looking at a Robinson Cano-type offensive player only with better speed plus the legit OF skills. I'll take that.
Jesus Montero looking great so far this season btw (#s for Tampa):
I know we're talking A ball but those are awesome numbers. Only 26 SOs for a big power hitter is impressive. Montero just got the call up to Trenton and in his 1st game he went 1-4 with an RBI.
Two real nice prospects for us to look forward to..

from what little i've seen of Austin Jackson, & his swing, he reminds me somewhat of Torii Hunter at the plate... quick righty stroke w/some pop... he hasn't hit for power this year at AAA but he did hit 10 HR's in just 258 AB's in Tampa in '07, so we know he can hit the longball... he'll probably get stronger as he gets older, i think he can easily project to a Torii Hunter type player at the plate... dunno if his defense even comes close to stacking up tho, we'll have to see on that.
as for Montero i don't think he'll be our C of the future, he's more of a 1B/DH type prospect in my view... i think he'll most likely be a prospect we end up trading at some point when a big need arises.

Wang has to remain in the rotation, he's a starter, period... u don't keep unproven prospects in the rotation over proven 19 game winners... Hughes will get more chances to prove himself eventually, he's still young & it's not like he was pitching lights out as a starter anyways this year.
it's scary how good this team can be once Wang gets his groove back & ARod starts hitting the way we know he can hit... then when we get Bruney back, forget it, game over.

Swisher is our future corner outfielder until he proves otherwise. The guy is 28 with about a .400 on base and .500 slugging percentage. Or if you like more traditional stats, he's on pace for about 30 HR, 100 RBI, 100 runs, 40 doubles.

you have to leave wang as a starter. you cant just put him in and yank him out at the first sign of trouble. he needs time to re-adjust to being back. just like w tex, give him some time and by mid season he'll be throwing just fine.

You had me really excited until you mentioned Nick Johnson! I guess he is a very good hitter on those rare instances when he's healthy, though.

he looked great the first 3 innings then ran into trouble w/that wild pitch & then got unnerved from there... i think he still needs to build up his arm strength, but the movement on his pitches early in this game looked as good as it did in his recent relief stints.
If his arm strength is good enough for only 3 innings, then he needs to go back to the minors to increase his strength. Hughes can pitch in the meantime.

yeah, he's still young... i'm talking about him replacing Swish after his contract is up... he's not gonna be no 1B on this team, which is probably his best suited position, & u rarely see kids brought up at such a young age to be a fulltime DH.
