I wonder if AJB is injured. He usually is not this bad unless there's an injury. He also usually doesn't go this long without an injury.

Jeter or Teix for MVP?

Mo or CC for Cy Young?
Bonn1997 @ 9/3/2009 10:46 AM
Cy Young of the Yankees staff in CC's case, but definitely not of the entiare AL unless he has an unbelievably great September like 1 ER over 35 innings. The ERA diff between him and many other pitchers is just way too big. He's still having a very good season though.
Allanfan20 @ 9/3/2009 12:01 PM
It's a crime that Mo hasn't even been considered for both the MVP and the Cy Young at this point. Actually, nevermind, he was a candidate back in '96, when he was the setup man.

Mo should definitely get heavy consideration.

cc now 16 game winner. heard mo hurt his groin and may be out this wknd?

With seven 20 home run players, NY Yankees join elite company
by Marc Carig/The Star-Ledger Friday September 04, 2009, 8:57 AM

TORONTO -- Yankees catcher Jorge Posada vaulted the Yankees into rare company.

Posada hit his 20th home run of the season in Thursday's 10-5 victory against the Blue Jays, making the Yankees just the fourth team in history to boast seven 20 home run hitters.

"Twenty home runs is something that if you're in there, you're going to hit home runs," said Posada, citing his health as the reason he's reached the plateau. "I'm happy for it but it's just a matter of really staying healthy this year for me."

The Yankees join the 1996 Orioles, 2000 Blue Jays and 2005 Rangers in the exclusive club.

But of the four teams, the 2009 Yankees may have the most productive lineup, at least judging by weighted on-base average (wOBA), which measures total offensive production and produces a statstic on the same scale as on-base average.

Team/wOBA/MLB rank
2009 Yankees /.366/1st
1996 Orioles/.354/6th
2000 Blue Jays/.350/10th
2005 Rangers/.344/3rd

The number reflects the depth of the Yankees lineup, which has been a strength all season.

"I think our lineup has become circular," said Alex Rodriguez, who has eclipsed the plateau, along with Johnny Damon, Mark Teixeira, Hideki Matsui, Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher and Posada.

And at 17, Derek Jeter is just three short of making the Yankees the first team ever to have eight 20 home run hitters.

Oh well. You can't win'em all.

Yanks are really rolling but unfortunately Dave Robertson had to go see Dr. Andrews with some elbow stifness. He had really been ptiching well lately and that would really stink for our bullpen depth
Allanfan20 @ 9/8/2009 11:18 PM
Nice job by both Goudin and the bullpen. Great game overall.

swish was like a little kid on his bday after the game....you could tell he was so psyched to get the pie.

love the yanks - they are playing w the passion of little league'rs right now (that a good thing by the way) - kinda reminds me of 1996 a bit.
TMS @ 9/9/2009 12:24 PM
how can u not like Nick Swisher? the guy plays the game like he is loving every minute he's on the field of play... his importance to this team can't be underestimated... he's really helped to bring the lockerroom together & make it a fun place for all his teammates according to their post game comments... he's the type of glue player that i've been talking about that was missing from this team the past few years... u need guys like him on the team to keep everyone else loose & beyond that he's made a great contribution at the plate all year.

Swish is awesome. He was the one acquisition over the summer that Cashman deserves the most credit for because he was a player others were overlooking.

is this a completely emotional post not based on any type of statistic?
Bonn1997 @ 9/9/2009 2:17 PM

Awesome! I F'in love Swisher!!! I'm glad to see him finally join in the act with all these walk-offs. I can't believe last night's game wasn't on YES - I would've loved to have seen a Swish interview with Kim Jones on the field after that game... He's turned out to be a very important player for us.

Sad to hear about Dave Robertson. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing. He's been awesome for us. Those extra few ticks in velocity have really helped him. Robertson is living proof that a guy throwing 93-95 most likely will be more effective than a guy bringin' it at 88-91. Velocity isn't everything, I'll grant you, but it's important. With the spike in velocity, he's been a completely different pitcher. He went from a guy I had little trust in early on to a guy I wanna see now in big spots. Behind Mo & Hughes, Robertson's clearly our 3rd best reliever - ahead of Bruney and ahead of the 2 lefties. Hopefully Dr. Andrews finds nothing wrong with the MRI and Dave can rejoin the bullpen soon. Keep your fingers crossed everybody..

another mediocre start by joba so far. what is up with him? seems like he's settling down a bit in the 2nd inning tho...lets see.
