i agree jimi... i do think Joe overmanaged there but sometimes u go w/what ur gut tells u to do, it doesn't always work out... i've seen Joe Torre make similar moves also in past postseasons, sometimes they'd work out, sometimes they didn't... u can't tell what's gonna happen ahead of time, u just gotta trust ur instincts sometimes & the rest is up to the players to deliver & do their jobs... Aceves didn't do his job there, so he's equally to blame if u ask me... if he comes in & gets Kendrick out then Joe gets called a genius for making that move.
we really need to win tonight's game... gotta get the momentum back from the Halos, can't let it get to 2-2 w/game 5 in Anaheim.
i'm a girardi fan...but robertson has been on fire these playoffs and aceves has been shaky at best...that was a tough one, even for me to let go. all the other moves, i didn't have a problem with...
it was a second guesser type move, no question, i'm not saying i loved the move... just giving u what the reasoning probably was behind making it from Joe's perspective.

When he apologized, did he have this look on his face?:
I think to some degree tight managing = a tight team. Was an issue with Yankee postseasons in the post Zimmer Torre years
one thing i noticed in many of the playoff games (including other series) is the # of trips to the mound - either from manager, catcher or pitching coach. and almost every time, the pitcher messes up after the trip. there's something to be said about letting a pitcher keep his rhythm...none more evident than when aj pitches...and girardi coming out on the 2-2 count to vlad. you know andy and jorge are vets and must've been annoyed by him coming out there.
Jeter leads off with a hit, lets win tonight!
Wow, Jeter gets picked off. How often do you see that?
damon + tex really need to wake up at the plate...
Tex and Swish normally have outstanding eyes at the plate but have chased a lot of bad pitches this post-season
Teixiera ripping some pitches in this at bat, but just missed a HR foul
And then he watches strike 3.
tex was on those fastballs...kazmir got lucky...

tex is locking up this postseason...had the 2 big hits in game 2 of the twins series and that's it.
at least unlike giambi, tex has been spectacular in the field...
CC with a 4 pitch walk...his control has been impeccable so far this postseason so thats surprising
Teix has been horrible at the plate, but he's been spectacular in the field.
at some point i'd like to see Gardner starting for a game cuz Melky's been ridiculously pathetic at the plate so far this postseason.
Teixiera is money in the field

I had thought we'd see Gardner starting some because they brought up Guzman as an extra pinch runner. If not taking out Melky I'd also consider taking out Swish at this point, who's AB's have also been dreadful
well i wouldn't start Gardner vs. the tough lefty Kazmir, but certainly in Game 5 if Melky isn't hitting then i'd start Gardner vs. Lackey... & i agree, if Swisher doesn't start hitting soon then i might even think about starting Hairston in his place for a game
