another win for the good guys.

Cano is an insane hitter. He's going to put up some big numbers for us before he's done.
djsunyc @ 8/12/2007 7:00 PM
starting pitching has been awesome.
relievers have been good.
hitting has been insane.

it's fun times to be a yankee fan...the UNDERDOG yanks...
djsunyc @ 8/12/2007 7:05 PM
btw, boston lost...yanks FOUR games out of 1st.

yea, Gagne blew another lead, I think that move was an overrated move by boston, gagne is done IMO.

Cashman held on to the kids and Joba, Hughes look like studs..

yanks bats are hot, just hot.

boston is adjusting that rear view mirror.....
djsunyc @ 8/12/2007 7:58 PM
but the schedule coming up is insane.
djsunyc @ 8/12/2007 8:05 PM
we have a tough time with the orioles (as do the red sox) so wang has to step up huge tomorrow to set it off right.
Silverfuel @ 8/12/2007 8:23 PM
and then next week we play the angels, tough couple of weeks.

true, but we beat two tough teams at home. toronto plays well at home and cleveland leads the division and we went on the road and won 5 out of 6 between the two.. that is impressive..

peter gammons was just on baseball tonight and said the following:

a) gammons said some ppl told him "chamberlain had the best stuff in the mlb...period" and that he could have a "zumaya-like effect" on the yankees this playoffs.
b) kennedy will probably be brought up soon.
c) hughes, kennedy, and chamberlain were got in 2 drafts.

gammons is usually on the money and after watching these guys, i cant say i disagree.
VDesai @ 8/13/2007 9:08 AM
Ugh...Karstens is starting Tuesday instead of Kennedy. Bad move.

this is an exchange between another yankee fan and myself within 1 minute of talking to each other yesterday...

dj "hughes and chamberlain"
fan "oh my god"
dj "dude (in disbelief)"
fan "oh my god"

not trading for Eric Gagne is 1 of the best decisions Cashman has made as GM... look how horrible he's been for BOS since he got there... other than ARod, he's probably our MVP right now... let's hope this screws up Okajima's confidence & he loses his effectiveness too... i wonder if Boy Genius Theo Epstein regrets making that move yet.

the 9 games left w/the O's worries me more than the games left vs. the Tigers to tell u the truth... for some reason they've had our # this season.
TMS @ 8/13/2007 11:26 AM
Padres claimed Igawa off waivers, but Cashman may not want to deal?

I don't get it... what is Cashman waiting for here? just getting that $16 mil in salary owed to him off the payroll is good enough for me... you can't expect to get any viable prospects for this guy anymore & there's no way in hell i want to see him in our starting rotation ever again.

so we lose out on that $24 mil posting fee... sometimes you just have to eat a big mistake & cut your losses instead of trying to milk some kind of value out of it.

ship him to San Diego & use that money to help keep ARod in NY!
Allanfan20 @ 8/13/2007 12:27 PM
There's no chance that A-Rod goes anywhere else. The Yanks are going to go all out.

sometimes you can make too many moves. that was a move to keep gagne from the yankees. and thank god. It is funny the rangers wanted our top talent and they took a good, but not great talent from boston in gabbard or however you spell his name.

Great non-move by cashman..
djsunyc @ 8/13/2007 4:09 PM
is it time to start up an official eric gagne appreciation thread?
BigSm00th @ 8/13/2007 10:53 PM
melky the player of the game today. first the play at the plate and then the scoring run.

DJ is nasty, as usual (as in jeter, not djsunyc).

chamberlain is so fun to watch.

the O's are a pesky team, and guthrie has good stuff.
TMS @ 8/13/2007 11:17 PM
Joba the Hut is just plain nasty! that slider of his acts almost like Rocket's splitter the way it drops off the table & the velocity that he throws it with.

anyone else notice the resemblence?

Boston Sucks.

How many games back are we? We’re not just coming from your team now, Boston, we’re coming for each and every last one of you sandal-wearing, backwards hat, low-self-eseteem, lily white, burnout fratboys. How many games back?

at least the '98 team still holds the record for games won in a season including the postseason.

125 is pretty impressive.
