phil was so dirty last night it wasn't even funny. i'm so glad the organization came to their senses and kept phil in the rotation and joba in the pen. we've all known phil has electric stuff, it was just a matter of him getting his injuries squared away - so glad for him that it's all finally coming together. my prediction - by the end of this year, phil is our #2 starter.

yankees are so boring - have won every series so far this season, mo w 6 straight saves, phil looking real good, javy even looking good after some early run support.....and then you have aj, cc and andy, with joba in the pen doin lights out work....and tex and arod have yet to really take off....gonna be a looong season.

The only thing I'm interested in is if the Yankes move Granderson to the 2, bench Johnson, and promote Montero. That's the lone storyline thus far

(edit:) well that, and the CC and Hughes' no hit bids

to early to tell yet w johnson. thing about johnson, he uses every at bat - goes deep into the count consistently, so there's something to be said for that. give it some time and see how he develops during the 1st third of the year.

I agree and I'm not saying I would do that... that's pretty much the only storyline I could see developing that would be remotely interesting

btw - you know i was being sarcastic with the ho hum stuff right? the yanks are pounding people right now - cant get better than this for us - if we keep the momentum, could be a special season and #28 right around the corner.

I know you were cracking a joke but humor hides the truth. 1996 and 2001 were infinitely more interesting seasons than 1998. This season could be that great--I firmly believe(d) that and I think previous posts evidenced this. This season will be great for baseball watching purposes. I'll always sign up to watch greatness.

But I do think it's funny that my only concern is whether or not the pitching staff will be able to pull off a no-no or not

Anyway, I just thought the ho hum comment (even though it was a joke) was an interesting opinion on the team, as it really does imply that everyone and their mother expects the Yanks to win every series this year... and the Rays are legit and surely Boston will improve

This is the future ace that we have pictured for the last several years. Wow.

Breakout game?

If this cat starts developing its game over for the AL.

djsunyc wrote:sox pitching is stacked but when you commit 2 years $15 mil to mike cameron of all people, you are making a statement about your offense. that offense has not been the same after manny and will continue to be very average w/o him. but with that said, they can win alot of games b/c of their pitching but they have to deal with us and tampa in the same division. and tampa is scary if their young arms recovered from all those innings 2 years ago.

Mike Cameron is hot trash...Agree on that.

Yep. Ca$hman's avoidance of Santana turned out to be genius and a franchise-shifter. Another Mets, L...haha.

Finestrg @ 4/22/2010 7:04 PM
Man, that was a tough one to swallow today.. If you would've told me we'd have CC on the hill, HRs from Thames & Tex AND we turned a triple play I would've said blowout and series sweep. Oh well. Baseball is a funny game...One bad pitch from CC early on and we never caught up. CC really didn't have his plus stuff today...Gotta give this kid Braden his due, he kept us off balance all afternoon, even though I thought we should've pounded him. First time I've ever seen him -- he reminds me of a poor man's Barry Zito (doesn't even through as hard, not as good a curveball). After the first few pitches I though we were just gonna eat him alive but it never came...Oh well. Just keep plugin' along, winning series..

Classy move by Cashman to hand deliver Xavier Nady's WS ring to him personally btw...Very cool. Nice job Cash!

Thats what I kept saying- I don't think Johan was good enough to win us a ring. Missing the playoffs 1 year was no big deal when you're gonna start winning World Series the way we're about to once again.

Finestrg @ 4/23/2010 11:38 AM
Apparently Dallas Braden got pissed off at A-Rod for running across the mound and touching the rubber on his was back to 1st base after a Cano foul ball. I didn't catch this live yesterday? Anybody see it? Was it that big of a deal? The kid was flipping out in the papers about it this morning....A-Rod man..Jeez, always involved in some kind of controversy...LOL!

Hell naw it wasnt that big of a deal, I mean A-Rod just ran across the mound after the inning was over.

I know its one of those "unwritten baseball rules" that were carved in stone by the older baseball gods and all that bullshyt, but you should have seen the way Braden acted. He completely lost it and spazzed out. I could see saying something to A-Rod and all, but duke went nuts. Stupid as hell.

hughes is the man.

kevin russo took chapman deep last night.

ryan howard's deal might be the worst deal in sports. adam dunn makes a 1/3rd of that and is a better player.

If it brightens your day, at least Hughes is picking up the slack by doing a pretty damn nice job so far, and "What do you know" is the MVP so far.
