If the postseason started today, I would think that neither AJ nor Javy would start in the first round.

On merit, id go with: Hughes, Samathia, Petitte.

I'd go Sabathia, Hughes, Pettitte just because CC's been good lately and is known to heat up post All Star break... and I like CC up front, Hughes next, and Pettite with the chance to sweep in the first round.

I do think Burnett will get it straightened out though and I hope Hughes can get swapped for Burnett, leaving the kid available for the pen in the postseason again. No matter what I'd prefer to not ahve to lean on Javy in the postseason.... don't want to find out if his intestinal fortitude has improved or not if I don't have to

TMS wrote:Javy Vazquez has a 10.34 career ERA in the postseason... yes, i'd take AJ everytime... this is not bias, it's based on facts & statistics... Javy has imploded in big games in his career, it's been well documented... AJB has a WS ring on his finger & shut down the Twins in the ALDS last year & had a very solid performance in game 2 of the WS, a game we absolutely HAD to win down 1-0 at home vs. the Phils.

perhaps you should just admit you're a Javy V fanboy.

LOL i couldn't care less about javy V it just amuses me that you rip on the guy every chance you get and then assert your "objectivity" and won't come off the "i'm just calling it like it is" stuff with regards to vazquez, when he has in fact been great and burnett has been awful for the last month. whatever. go yankees.

& where was your objectivity when Javy was stinking up the first month & a half of the season? it goes both ways... don't come on here calling me out for being a Javy hater & talking down to me with that "you amuse me" bullcrap when you've been defending him all year even when he's sucked... that's hypocritical.

in case you didn't notice i have acknowledged that he's been pitching much better of late... that still doesn't instill confidence in a big game situation... i'll believe that when i see it... he's gotta prove he can do it before i believe, not the other way around.

What an amazing come back! 4 runs in the 9th to tie the game - Cano with an RBI double in the 9th and the game winning 2 run HR in the 10th! MVP!
TMS @ 6/28/2010 12:47 AM
awesome game! Cano is seriously making a run at the MVP this season. & love it when ARod hits a HR off Dodger pitching... put that in your book Joe.
TMS @ 6/28/2010 12:47 AM
1 of the funniest exchanges between 2 old rivals ever... gotta love Reggie & Tommy

LOVE beating Joe Torre. Wish we could've swept them, but you could spot AJ 8 runs right now and he may not even get a win.
Allanfan20 @ 6/28/2010 1:06 AM
Why did we skip Phil Hughes?

LOL....I love Torre but I'm glad A-Rod got the better of him this series -- A-Rod had plenty to do with the two wins we had against Torre...Bottom line is that Torre did this guy dirty -- not only did he drop him to the 8th spot in the lineup in that playoff game in Detroit which basically signaled defeat, he came out with that stuff in his book which really disrespected Alex even further. Good for Alex man -- and I thought he conducted himself with a lot of class going over to Torre to say hello and put everything behind them..I really laughed when he came over to Joe and faked the couple of punches - that caught Joe by surprise - his reaction was priceless - I think he thought Alex was really gonna hit him for a sec..LOL. You know what Joe, it wouldn't be like you didn't deserve it. Still love Joe though and appreciate everything he did for us...I can't wait until the day comes when he's recognized all over the new Yankee Stadium...His face deserves to be up in the great hall somewhere..He deserves it -- the Yankees are probably just waiting until he official retires from the Dodgers before they mend the fence..

CC for hitting Padilla the other night = Awesome. You wanna hit our guys you ugly fucking piece of dog shit, now you're gonna get drilled. And you're lucky you got hit in the legs instead of right between the eyes..Ugly head-hunting bastard. CC's pitching much better recently too btw...Velocity's up a few ticks and he just looks much more confident and dominant. Dude may start off a little slow every year but he really heats up in the middle of the summer...We got our ace of the staff back now.

Cano = Awesome. I was screaming about Cash letting Matsui go, mainly because I thought it left us without the proper protection for A-Rod in the 5 hole. Man was I wrong. Robbie's always been a very good player, but he's really stepped his game up to an even higher level. Cash/Girardi get a lot of credit here in my book..

Gardner -- How bad is the wrist? Anyone know? What's the latest? Were X-Rays negative?

Chad Huffman/Colin Curtis -- What can you say about these two cats? They've been awesome, both of 'em. They're both playing like 10-year vets, not rookies. I feel so comfortable with them up at the plate, I almost expect something good everytime up. Real shot in the arm...I love Huffman's hustle -- dude busts it 100% all the time. Huffman looks like he's got the type of swing where he could develop some serious power eventually....These guys fit right in and don't look overmatched in any way out there.

Burnett -- Lost at sea..I mean what can you say??? I fell bad - you know he's frustrated and embarrassed...It's to the point where whatever can possibly go wrong, goes wrong..Anyone know when Dave Eiland's supposed to come back? Anyone know exactly what the 'personal reasons' are that caused Eiland to leave the team? has it ever been talked about? I hope he's ok -- maybe his return could be what AJ needs...I don't know man, but we've got to get this guy straightened out -- we're just giving the game away early everytime he goes out there it seems..

Carlos Zambrano = Cukoo...Nuff said..I'm always looking for the Yanks to add talent no matter what the cost (you guys know how I feel about Roy Oswalt) but man, I don't think I'd even touch this nutjob now, even if the Cubs wanted to give him away...You watch, some team out there like the Texas Rangers will wind up taking a chance on him though. He's probably done as a Cub..

BJ Upton = Lazy cry baby. I'm glad Longoria addressed his laziness --- that was disgusting..Never liked him and I don't like his cadillacin' brother either. F everything Upton...

MaTT4281 @ 6/28/2010 12:23 PM
^^ I don't know what the Gardner situation is, but Eiland's supposedly coming back Tuesday.

Nice. Hopefully he can get AJ straightened out...Thanks Matt.

Finestrg @ 6/28/2010 9:15 PM
Nice, looks like X-Rays on Gardy's wrist came back negative. He said he hopes to play Tues. against the Mariners.\

Damn, Romero was straight up dominant when we faced him in Toronto and looked real good the first 2 innings today. He just fell completely apart.
Yanks score 11 runs in the 3rd!
Finestrg @ 7/7/2010 10:27 PM
Robbie Cano pulling out of the HR derby was the best thing in the world! Excellent decision..
VDesai @ 7/7/2010 11:02 PM
I guess one run through 2.2 is an improvement for AJ at this point. The sad thing is he's got the stuff to some extent- he's not like Wang last ear throwing meatballs. Definitely all in his head.
VDesai @ 7/8/2010 12:01 AM
Of course I spoke too soon. AJ coming around tonight. Swish with a great game.
MaTT4281 @ 7/9/2010 12:43 AM
Arod with a HUGE hit in the 9th.

F*** LeBron!

islesfan @ 7/9/2010 8:38 AM
Just heard Buster Olney on Mike and Mike in the Morning say that the Yankees are on the verge of trading for Cliff Lee. Crazy. The Yankees offer is built around Jesus Montero.

Obviously he's a 1a to Sabathia's 1, but who leaves the rotation? Do they go to a 6 man rotation? Does Hughes get put back in the bullpen when he gets closer to his innings limit? Do they trade Vazquez while his trade value is high again? I'd hate to trade Montero because he's going to be a beast at the plate, especially when they could perhaps just sign Lee as a free agent this winter.

TMS @ 7/9/2010 9:11 AM
Montero hasn't been doing much in the minors this year... he's got a huge upside but Cliff Lee is a bonafide ace... usually i'm not in favor of giving up our top prospects for 1 year rentals, but i wouldn't have a problem w/this trade, especially if it means i won't have to worry about Javy V pitching for us in the postseason.
VDesai @ 7/9/2010 11:42 AM
I hate, hate, hate giving up Montero for someone we could've signed in 6 months but Cliff Lee is as good if not better than Sabathia.

I still don't like giving up a .300 hitting 20 year old. Montero has an all star bat. We're not gonna like watching him elsewhere.
