I wouldn't even know what do with another starter. Hughes, Nova, and Kuroda should not come out of the starting lineup. Each of them has a better chance of becoming a consistent #3 starter than anyone we could cheaply get in a trade would. In contrast, a nice bat from a player who could play either corner outfield position or multiple infield positions would allow for more pinch-hitting and more resting of our veteran players.

Gardy is coming back. How do we need another bat? We have yet to have our 1 - 9 spots healthy and playing at the same time. We still have plenty of DH / rest options.
Hughes should go to the bullpen IMHO. Kuroda may not make the playoff roster if he can't get his shit together consistently. Andy is pitching great, but will it last? There are no locks in our rotation after CC. That's my point.

Based on any metric, we don't have the best offense in baseball. So another bat would be helpful. It's hard to believe, but we don't even have a top 25 hitter in our lineup. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/s... Gardner is coming back but someone else will get injured. Of course we could always use another pitcher but it would cost too much to get another #3 starter.

Matt Garza is on the radar. As of right now the rotation is looking solid, especially after Kuroda's performance against the Muts tonight.

That was a really exciting game. The back-to-back-to-back homers were awesome.
Bonn1997@ 6/9/2012 7:23 PM
Is tonight's game not televised? I can't find it! I'm in Pennsylvania. It's not on MLB extra innings

I'm not sure we need Garza but I wouldn't complain if we got him without giving up a lot.
It sounds like Gardner isn't coming back any time soon.

Gardy is the thing that runs down the hits that Raul watches land in left right now and turns them into routine fly outs. He also scores from first on bunts, but I don't exactly see him as a "bat".
Hughes just pitched a complete game, you really want him moved to the pen?
I love sweeping the Mets. It's so fun and it's like pummeling your ugly, smelly, annoying little brother.
Russell comes alive! I cannot wait for this entire order up to wake up at the same time.
9 games over .500. Life is good again.
Bonn1997@ 6/12/2012 9:33 PM
Wow, huge GS by A-Rod! People are harsh on him. I think he's playing as well as you could ask a nineteen-year veteran to play.
SupremeCommander@ 6/18/2012 1:24 PM
I've been to more than a few Nats games being in Northern VA... really impressive sweep. The Nats are a great team. Young and inexperienced. But a ton of top notch talent. Nice to see the Yanks out grind the Nats
ChuckBuck@ 6/18/2012 2:07 PM
LOL at Cano shrug off ARod
jusnice@ 6/18/2012 3:21 PM
Any idea what that was all about?
VERY impressed by the Yanks recent 9 game streak!

Maybe he's sick of ARod's shiet lol. Who knows...but yes, the Yanks are rollin right now. NOVA NOVA!!!
jusnice@ 6/19/2012 10:03 AM
An article in the Daily News claims that they were just joking around and are "like brothers." This team does not need a rift between two very important stars, so let's hope it is nothing. Chemistry is important and the Yanks seem to have been immune to internal strife for a while now...
jrodmc@ 6/25/2012 8:50 AM
Robbie Cano, Dont'cha know! Goes from error the goat to the gamewinning hero blast! we take 5 of 6 from the Second City Mets! So much for the aura of RA Dickey! We are specializing in raining on the Mets pitching parade... gotta love it, for no apparent reason.
Cano's sometimes inexplicable inept fielding is aggravating at times, but the man can just flat out hit. I think that homer would have put a hole in the MetApple. That would have been hilarious.
jrodmc@ 6/26/2012 10:33 AM
Heard Swisher on the radio yesterday. He's everything that's great about being a Yankee. Always sounds like the prototypical little leaguer who can't believe he's in pinstripes.
Pelted the crap out of the Indians. I smell sweep. It's incredible, we only have two players on the roster hitting .300 and yet everyone's hitting homers. Gotta see if I can dig up a replay of Sterling's home run call for Wise.
Is it me, or is all of MLB at such a mediocre ebb (with the exception of us, Texas and the Bronx Dodgers aka Mattingly's boys) that it seems almost everyone's playing .500 ball?

I would like to see the Yanks hit and run a bit more. I know that they are smashing the ball, but I would be okay with less wins if they all got practive playing a style that does better in October

I struggle with your definition of his inept fielding. He makes amazingly difficult plays look easy, almost nonchalant. Maybe that is where your impression is coming from. He has only 4 errors at the halfway mark. How do you characterize that as inept?

Fixed.
You're right, it's not that he doesn't make the amazing plays in the field while apparently sleepwalking, it's that he seems to get his flubs on routine ground outs. Which makes his errors stand out even more.

Damit first CC on DL, now Pettite out 6 weeks with a broken ankle. Yanks have no luck this year with injuries...
jrodmc@ 6/28/2012 9:37 AM
Being a pitcher on the Yankees this year is akin to working valet parking in Iraq.
