Yanks need to keep it together just to remain respectable. They are doing a great job considering the nightmare of injuries. Can't beat mother nature especially when they check for PED's now.

It was an inevitable nightmare though.
Remaining respectable is a shitty goal.

Kuroda is clearly this team's ace pitcher. Without Kuroda and Cano, this would probably be a .300 team!
Bonn1997 @ 7/26/2013 10:48 PM
0 for 5 for Sori. I just noticed his defensive stats are pretty bad. I doubt he's worth $7 mil over 1.5 years.
Bonn1997 @ 7/27/2013 8:41 AM
2 years, $20 mil for Sori and Ichiro. I think they could have found better ways to spend $20 mil. It makes me wonder if they're just going after big name players that will create excitement and bring money in or if they want to win.

If you look deeper at the #s, the Yankees have played this year at more like a .470 level and have just gotten a lot of breaks. They're -9 in run differential and -.040 in own/opponent OPS.
jusnice @ 7/29/2013 11:36 AM
Jeter is a GOD. What a first swing. We almost lost if not for Soriano's heroics. On Matsui's day as well. Good game for the Yanks and hopefully the start of a nice run. Now if we just get this Arod crap taken care of...
Bonn1997 @ 7/31/2013 11:05 AM
The Yankees better do something to improve the situation before the deadline. I can't believe they haven't been buyers or sellers...just slackers.
Bonn1997 @ 7/31/2013 5:22 PM
I'm starting to think James Dolan runs his organization better than Hal Steinbrenner does

Interesting interview with Girardi before yesterday's game. In light of the lack of trade activity for the Yanks, he made the point that getting Grandy back was like a trade for an allstar who hit 40 HR's last season. Good point, I thought...
Bonn1997 @ 8/1/2013 3:17 PM
Yeah but we're like 3 or 4 bats shy of a decent offense
Bonn1997 @ 8/3/2013 9:17 AM
I don't get what's wrong with CC. His velocity is down but only a couple MPH. He looks like a double A starting pitcher.
jrodmc @ 8/5/2013 8:40 AM
Would any team be in "name mode" and take CC and Phil Hughes? I'd rather watch next year's prospects give up 5 and 7 runs getting to the bullpen by the 5th inning.

Typical Grandyman. 0-4 on his debut, and then next game, hits a 2-run homer, steals a base, and scores an additional run in the 9th...
Wonder if he could still lead the team in strikeouts by the end of the year...

Bonn1997 @ 8/5/2013 8:55 AM
Granderson's probably our 2nd best hitter. I'm not going to complain about him. I hope we don't give him a huge contract though.
Jeter might go back to the DL. He should just take the rest of the season to rest and recover.
We actually need A-Rod this year. Too bad he can't appeal for the rest of this season. It would be ideal if he were suspended but not until the start of next year.
sidsanders @ 8/5/2013 6:35 PM
non nyc sports radio breaks local shows to go to arod talking live...
dude shoulda said nothing, there is nothing he can say at this point to escape this.
Bonn1997 @ 8/6/2013 11:43 AM
When MLB shares the evidence they have that A-Rod obstructed justice, I'll believe them. I'm not going to convict him just because the authorities say "trust us. The evidence is there." Until then, I think he should have gotten the same penalty as everyone else.
jrodmc @ 8/6/2013 12:52 PM
Either way, what are we talking about? Maybe .250 and 100 strikeouts? All he's done is give us something to talk about besides how half our rotation can't pitch little league and our entire line up can't hit for more than one game in a row, once every other week.

Exciting.

Let's go Gints!

Bonn1997 @ 8/6/2013 1:49 PM
He has a lot of walks and HR. He's the classic kind of player that's devalued by BA. He's good for 3.0 or maybe even 5.0 WAR in a full season.
Bonn1997 @ 8/9/2013 9:36 AM
7 back of the 2nd wild card and -20 in scoring differential. This is a pretty bad team.

In the fairytale ending Mariano strikes out the side to win the world series!

This team has been in decline but starphuchingly held together to support sensational ticket prices.

Its an unsustainable model. Arod was to be chasing ghosts and Barry Bonds and legions of loyal fans would have flocked to see it.

And who Jeter is banging!!!

2009 is a distant memory and the teams last harrah. Dodgers came calling last year and when we sent them off they went to boston and did their deal. Who in gods name thought RedSawx would be this good?

The Core 4 set a high standard and Yanks played the Aging Roid era better than anyone! Its time to move on.

Agreed. I keep wondering if we're worse than the Mets yet. No, I don't want to look.

We've got two pitchers and not much else to look at.

I keep wondering if Dolan is actually a better owner than Hal Steinbrenner!
