Agreed. I keep wondering if we're worse than the Mets yet. No, I don't want to look.
We've got two pitchers and not much else to look at.
I keep wondering if Dolan is actually a better owner than Hal Steinbrenner!

In the fairytale ending Mariano strikes out the side to win the world series!
This team has been in decline but starphuchingly held together to support sensational ticket prices.
Its an unsustainable model. Arod was to be chasing ghosts and Barry Bonds and legions of loyal fans would have flocked to see it.
And who Jeter is banging!!!
2009 is a distant memory and the teams last harrah. Dodgers came calling last year and when we sent them off they went to boston and did their deal. Who in gods name thought RedSawx would be this good?
The Core 4 set a high standard and Yanks played the Aging Roid era better than anyone! Its time to move on.
You can still spend a lot of money if you do it wisely. Look at the Red Sox. It's a major risk to give out huge long-term contracts though. I love Cano but he's probably going to command way too much money and become another A-Rod contract in 6 years. We could have gotten a huge amount for him in a trade this off-season. It would be ideal if they could workout a reasonable salary like 8 year, $80 mil and then put in gigantic performance bonuses. Even if some of the bonuses are easily reachable, it would still give us some protection but would also give Cano the chance to earn more money. Can they give out any amount of performance bonuses? Could the team give him an $80 mil contract with a chance to earn an addition $120 mil or so over the duration of the contract?
I guess it's clear A-Rod's still got a decent amount left in the tank. The team desperately needs him this year although it's probably too late to make the playoffs.
One game does not indicate the contents of the tank. It could still be full of water, or a quad strain.
And out of the whole ugly ArodPED fog, Gardy wins two games!
Mariano, three blown saves in a row!
Well he has about an .800 OPS in 5 games. You can't do that on an empty tank!
Oh Mr. fickle sample size... 1 homer in 5 games sure can jack that OPS, can't it? especially when the rest of your hits are singles!

Maybe we're just talking in a different language. I said nothing about the .785 OPS being stable. By having "something left in the tank," all I mean is that worst case scenario and as long as he stays healthy, I can't imagine him being worse than an average minor league call up or some guy with around a .550 OPS. Basically, I think it's highly unlikely that he'll be worse than the crap we were playing all season at 3rd base.
Better than the crap we have been playing at 3rd, agreed. I just think we should see something longer than a 5 game span and one homer to deem the tank has anything but maybe fumes and yet another season ending injury.
Plus, doesn't the time limit on his appeal run out some time before the playoffs? If he did perform all season only to get suspended, wouldn't that be a fabulous addition to the Arodacy?
Oh well, in any language, it was good to hear Sterling's Abomb from Arod call again...
I think the ruling is not expected until November or December at the earliest.
I think A-Rod's swinging the bat very well actually.
Well he hit into two double plays after I typed that!
You and Susan Waldman; after he hit his single, she said "He really looks good".
I will take hitting into 2 double plays rather than 2 strike outs looking, even if it does less for his OPS.
Man, Kuroda... who knew?
Is Pineda even coming back this year?
I'm on the same page as Susan!
He's still swinging better than I expected. I wasn't sure if he was going to be the same guy who had 12 strikeouts in 25 ABs in the post-season.
Kuroda is great! He should have about 17 wins by now. I hope he stays here for a long time. I don't like these 1 year contracts!
Wow, what a difference having A-Rod and Granderson makes! The team dug a deep hole though. They're probably going to have to play at least .700 the rest of the season in order to sneak into the 2nd wild card spot.
The NY Post PinTripe is reporting they should tank. I love the press. They're mostly scum, and they always live down to that expectation.
Tanking in baseball. to move up 5 spots in the draft. Brilliant sports analysis.
We're only 5 1/2 back. We do have to jump over a lot of teams though
In the last 9 innings, the Yankees have scored 22 runs! And Soriano has 12 RBI in the last 6 innings. Wow, this is a totally different, very exciting team!
wow, after practically sleeping through Nova's Detroit game, what a great thing playing the Angels turns out to be!
4 frickin homers?!?!??? Who's Sorri(ano) now! Gotta love Sterling. If you're a rabid Yankee fan that is. Emphasis on the rabies.
Wow, I can't believe Dempster wasn't ejected after that. The umpire probably hates A-Rod.
Only way to handle it is keep it all about baseball on the field. Yanks in a pennant race and if a guy can help, you play him. He is their best 3rd basemen.
Its a damn mess! No other team will touch him so its all about money. If he can play, stay healthy and perform let him play.
Has he been trying to cover his ass and protect his contract and money? Of course he is. So are the yanks.
