Yeah, I guess post-season is a slight accomplishment. Still, they'll end up using Tanaka most likely in the wild card game, which would make it difficult to win in the 1st round. It's hard to believe but right now, this is a .400 team when Tanaka doesn't pitch.

Wow, Whitley is off to a great mlb start.
I hope CC takes all the time in the world. Many announcers still treat CC like he's a good or great pitcher whose absence really hurts the team. But in his last 40 starts, his ERA is something like a 5.50.
Bonn1997 @ 6/8/2014 12:25 PM
The Yankees are 9th of 15 AL teams in pitching ERA and 12th of 15 in runs scored.

So the Twins get Kendrys Morales. Prorated 1 yr/$12mm deal (he'll actually make about $7.5mm for the remainder of the year). I wonder to what extend we were involved. Disappointed a little bit -- I think we could've used this guy. Not sure if we were looking at the big picture -- I would've locked him up on a multi-year deal...Next year he could've assumed the full DH role.. Even this year, if Tex gets hurt, if Sori continues to not hit, etc. he makes a ton of sense. Opportunity lost here if you ask me.
Bonn1997 @ 6/11/2014 7:10 PM
Agreed. Honestly, the organization seems dysfunctional.
mattshaw78 @ 6/12/2014 7:54 AM
Jeter is the third player in MLB history with 3,000 hits, 350 steals and 250
homers. The others? Rickey Henderson and Craig Biggio.

It's even worse when you take into account that Tanaka is leading the league in ERA.

He is pretty much the only reason to watch.

Oh yeah. Without him, this is about a .350 team.
Bonn1997 @ 6/14/2014 8:34 AM
Either Beltran sucks or he's still injured.
At least the team is winning now. Ellsbury's been playing better.
H1AND1 @ 6/14/2014 2:05 PM
Whitley's been a great surprise! I dont follow the minor league prospects closely at all beyond the ones that are hyped so Ill admit I had never heard of the kid before he got called up. He hasnt walked a batter in 4 games, I think. And only 3 BB's all season.

Bonn you are 100% correct CC can stay on the DL as long as he wants

Bonn1997 @ 6/14/2014 3:59 PM
Well I'd be happy to have CC back...as a mid-reliever!
Bonn1997 @ 6/15/2014 5:17 PM
It looks like this game was over in the 2nd inning. It's hard to imagine the Yankees scoring at least 7 runs in a game.
Bonn1997 @ 6/16/2014 8:54 AM
I don't get excited about watching this team play anymore. It's a bummer. I remember when I used to plan my day around the Yankees' games. I'd work hard during the day and look forward to watching the Yankees in the evening. Now I don't even care if there's a game on.

I was that way with Knicks this year

Yeah, but we're used to it with the Knicks!

C'mon, Tanaka may win the ROY and the Cy Young! That's worth watching every 5th game, ain't it?
If he could hit half as good as he pitches, he could play short or 3rd tomorrow.

jrodmc @ 6/18/2014 12:31 PM
Not that I've been following him, but Reyes is really entering the down side of the career, huh?

Very deep and insightful, I know.

Let's win 2 in a row!

Yeah, those are the only games worth watching.

Impressive series!
A lot of the team advanced stats still look bad though.
jrodmc @ 6/20/2014 9:48 AM
Stats aside, consistently pasting the Jays in the Stadium is always fun though!

Advanced stats? Who needs to look at advanced stats? The BA of the heart of our order is pathetic.

Well if you just look at the W-L record, the team is doing all right. The advanced stats paint the picture of a team playing at closer to a .450 level though.
