Hey TMS,

Remember Cashman's speech at the close of the 08 season. Asked if he'd return, he said that he had 'unfinished business'.

"There's unfinished business here and I've chosen to finish that business,"

putting together the best team on paper is all u can ever expect out of any GM, & Cashman did just that w/these signings... now it's up to the players to execute & pull their end of the bargain... the funny thing is if this team fails to win a championship u'r gonna see certain Yankee "fans" blaming Cashman & Yankees' ownership for spending so highly on FA's this offseason instead of building up w/the youth... some fans are never ever satisfied.

i am loving every bit of hate the Yankees are getting over these signings... the bitterness & jealousy & absolutely palpable... it's up to these players to finish that unfinished business now Rookman... but u gotta give Cashman props for putting this current team together regardless of the outcome of this season.

Excellent signing.

We needed someone like Tex or Manny badly. For all the emphasis that Cashman put on pitching, hitting was also a problem for the Yankees last season. Tex gives us the middle of the lineup bat that we really need to compete. Hopefully it also takes some pressure off of A-Rod in the process.

LOL, The Yankmes still think they can buy a title, LOL They couldn't buy one the last few years, now they spend even more and they still won't win one, what a joke!. LOL

The Mets thought they could buy Johan Santana and just make the playoffs. What a joke! lol.

+1, what a joke of of organization. To top it off their owner gets con. So now Mutt fans have to pay for it.
s3231 @ 12/23/2008 5:44 PM
BTW, I think its funny to see the reaction of Red Sox fans.

None of them were complaining when they spent $50 million just to negotiate with Matsuzaka.

I am infinitely more happy with this signing than I would have with Manny. He might not provide quite the same protection for A-Rod, but the man is still a great bat in the lineup, and an even better glove behind first base. Plus, we won't have to watch that douche stand at home base drooling over his own home runs.

I've made my peace with Damon, but some players are just meant to be hated. Manny is one of them.

Season hasn't played yet and already a yankee hater raises their ugly head.

Brian Cashman always gets his man.......he's the Yankee gm, but he still gets every player the team wants with hardly ever a second to waste. He's gonna need to go to the Hall of fame too for baseball.

As far as the order? I think you can't trust Arod to come through in the clutch. He needs to bat 3rd with Tex clean up. With Tex Clean up, Arod can relax......this reminds me of when he had Edgar Martinez and Ken Griffey behind him. Matsui is Edgar hopefully and Tex can be Griffey hopefully.

Great! Now please get Manny and Andy too!

Cashman's plan for the offseason:

- rebuild starting rotation - CHECK
- replace Bobby A & Giambi's offense - CHECK
- upgrade the defense - CHECK
- bend over every Yankee hater out there & stick it in their asses - CHECK

Dude we have enough. Pettitte fine, but we don't need any more players lol. We already have the best lineup in baseball without Manny. We don't need to add him.
Bonn1997 @ 12/23/2008 6:36 PM
This was the 7th best offense in the AL last year and all we've done is lose Abreu and Giambi and add Tex. We've thought we had the best lineup in baseball many times and been disappointed. Don't leave any room for disappointments.
Bonn1997 @ 12/23/2008 6:37 PM
It took Cashman enough years to realize that he has the easiest job of any GM in professional sports but at least he finally got it

El Duque, Scott Brosius, David Justice, Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina, Alfonso Soriano, Robinson Cano, Chien Ming Wang, Alex Rodriguez, Joba Chamberlain, CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, Mark Teixeira, 3 WS rings in 5 WS appearances & a completely rebuilt farm system - what a clueless bum he's been.

He's gotten everyone that the Boss wanted and every big named free agent out that the team wanted.

Totally ironic that his name is Cashman!!!

Don't forget abreu, Giambi, Big Unit, pudge, tino martinez......the mofo gets them all! He's like a pokemon hunter!

"From the moment we arrived in Boston in late 2001, we saw it as a monumental challenge," team owner John Henry said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. "We sought to reduce the financial gap and succeeded to a degree. Now with a new stadium filled with revenue opportunities, they have leaped away from us again. So we have to be even more careful in deploying our resources."
