it's really sad that another cop would stand by his partner & not even try to restrain him there... he was probably worried that 90 lb little girl woulda taken off her other shoe & nailed him in the head thereby causing severe brain trauma with it had they not taken action in that manner.
[Edited by - TMS on 05-26-2009 1:52 PM]
absolutely. There was no gray area there --- we're talking about a little girl being ruthlessly assaulted by a man twice her size and he didnt even restrain his partner, let alone help her. What cowardice and inhumanity; he was more concerned about "being a cop" than being a human.
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing
Personally, I take more exception with the guy that did nothing. Sometimes people make mistakes, including beating a girl, and that situation must be handled appropriately. To sit idly and compound their mistake through apathy though I find truly revolting because that speaks to composition of his character and soul, or lack thereof.
So either that dude that did nothing is a good guy that did nothing is a lazy sack of shit or he is just a sack of shit

Funny how everyone seems to miss the point. It's a rough world, cops deal with unreasonable amounts of junk. It wasn't always like this. No one realizes that it shouldn't be like this in a healthy empire. Everyone just needs to respect the law and stop doing drugs and smoking pot and drinking booze and everything would be ok. Whatever happened to obeying the law?
In my own experience, I was kicked while I sat on the curb in handcuffs when two undercover police officers pulled us over after I bought a small amount of contraband. And then my hand bled. It was scratched.-- I never had a problem with this.
I knew what I was doing going in and understood the risks. I deserved whatever came to me at that point because I willingly took those illegal actions.
Personal Responsibility.
luckily, they decided not to arrest me and only took my small amount of contraband..probably to 'dispose' of themselves. they also made fun of my sweater.
the job was done and i never went back to doing something like that.
TMS@ 5/26/2009 11:53 PM
if that cop kicked you for nothing other than buying some contraband & you had decided to press charges against him for it, you would have been well within your rights to do so... & do u know what would have likely happened to you for pressing charges? your statement would have been thrown out because it would have been your word against his & the cop would have simply said your hand started bleeding in the due process of him struggling to handcuff you & you woulda likely gotten tabbed with an additional resisting arrest charge to compound your problems that night... "Personal Responsibility" also includes not acting unprofessionally & abusing your powers as a public servant dude.
you are supposed to be innocent until PROVEN guilty in this country by due process, not the other way around... even convicted 1st degree murderers serving life in prison are supposed to get treated w/more respect than that... i once got arrested on a false accusation of a serious charge whose case was later dismissed... the arresting officer treated me with respect, talked to me like a human being, didn't berate me, belittle me, or abuse me physically in anyway & kept me up to date on what was going on w/my processing & whatnot... he took me to the police station & bought me a slice of pizza to eat while i was waiting in my holding cell til my lawyer arrived... at no time did i ever think he would have been justified to kick me, punch me, smack me upside the head, or even so much as use profane language at me... he treated me with respect & i cooperated... that's how you're supposed to protect & serve... it's too bad there aren't more cops like that in the force, you might not have so many citizens living in urban areas who are so suspicious & resentful towards them if there were... i've come across more than my fair share of dick cops who get on these power trips & they talk to you like you're beneath them even when they stop you on a stupid traffic violation.
orangeblobman@ 5/27/2009 12:02 AM
he kicked me because he said something and i laughed because i thought he was making a joke. he kicked me in my chest while i was sitting on the curb in handcuffs and said 'you think that's funny??'
i promptly shut up and put my head down.
i understand that i may have been within my rights to pursue some type of legal action...but in life, you sometimes have to swallow your pride in favor of brevity and ease of association.
sometimes a little dose of humility goes a long way towards a smoother life.
edit:
i strongly believe that my show of respect and display of understanding of the proper police-criminal dynamic went a long way in letting me live that night without an arrest.

LOL, that's not called humility... that's called being abused by a police officer & having no choice but to accept it, same as what happened to that little girl in the video... only difference is you got off way easy compared to that girl & there's no evidence for you to use to hold your case up in court with... you laughing at his joke to him is the same as flicking your shoe at him, he's just using any little excuse to satisfy his desire to feel powerful over someone else & dish out some punishment that he's got no right to administer... it had nothing to do w/the reason why you were in handcuffs & there was no chargeable offense to what you did or to what that girl did in the video clip... stop trying to reason this out, you got no case here.

Wow, what a pathetic coward you are.
But anyway, I'll have a better shot sparking off a threesome with Halle Berry and Alicia Keyes with Steven Spielberg taping it, then getting a rational response from you.

so in your world, a 'pathetic coward' is someone who can discern between a situation in which a person should shut up or a situation where a person should fight back.
so, in your world, acting first and thinking later are acceptable.
in your world, a person should fight all the time, no matter how tiny the grievance, because, hey, a person is a coward if they use their brains.
in your world, it doesn't matter how small the reward is nor how large the risk, it's all GO-TIME for you.
cool, man. a very 'rational response' from you, too, friend. cheers.

Bottom line
Police officers fired and arrested for assault---no brainer
Police Dept sued for substantial amount--somewhat unfair[or should I say VERY unfair] to taxpayers but ultimately it's a mechanism to hold people accountable for their actions
There is no other acceptable outcome. This was a vicious assault and the sht has to hit the fan

In Sebstars anti cop world its always go time. Hes always there for any thread that posts any anticop content. Keep in mind, if Sebstar actually has a job Im sure we can all find videos of peope who share his job title acting like a jackass. But that doesnt matter, because he just waits to rail against cops and how they have ruined his life. Goerge Bush and all the police officers get together and oppress him all day long as he walks around. Its crazy. But remember, youre a coward for disagreeing with him. Your not the internet revolutionary that he is. That takes balls kid, and only hes got it like that
Uh huh. And you're always there to defend cops to the end. You're no different than he is. It also doesn't help that you have a severely biased point of view.
izybx@ 5/30/2009 10:11 AM
I do have a very biased point of view, but Im not defending the cops in this situation. I really wasnt even going to get into this thread because I dont like being put into the position where im defending dudes who are acting like jackasses. I came home pretty banged up yesterday. I deleted the drunk post. Im not trying to provoke anyone

Good stuff izybx. I'm hard on the cops but I know there are a lot more good cops than bad. I called the cops once when I felt like there was a burglar in my usually quiet neighborhood I'm glad they were there. The problem though is the good cops see what the jackasses are doing but don't speak out against them. It makes them less credible to the tax payers.

Why are you being so anti-cop? Didnt you see that girl flick her shoes a couple of inches in his direction? She deserved it, she was asking for it!

Silver, i feel the same way & i wasn't trying to badmouth all cops w/this thread, i think i made that pretty clear from the start... i have no idea what it's like to be in the force, but it almost seems like the good cops will be looked upon as Pariahs within the force if they speak out or act against 1 of their own when they're doing something they shouldn't be doing... it's a damn shame if that's the case.
Silverfuel@ 5/31/2009 9:39 AM
^ yeah, the blue wall is a damn shame
orangeblobman@ 5/31/2009 9:44 PM
the 'blue wall' is what keeps you all safe at night. trust that there are much worse wastes of tax dollars than our police officers.
the nature of the job in 2009 America is such that they have to go out there to battle first, protect and serve second. that is not their fault, it is the fault of the people they are hired to protect.
personaly, people that would even consider disrespecting police officers are the scum of the earth...and they are the VERY REASON why cops have to behave they do..some people just don't understand how to live in a civil society.

No, it is not that girl's fault that she got her ass whipped. How disgusting. We, or she, are not to blame for cops pathological behavior.
You conservatives and your selective morality. You'll justify anything as long as it fits your political ideology. Look guy, cops are not Gods they are human beings and there must be checks and balances. Some cops have raped, trafficked drugs, committed assaults, murder...you name it. There are bad cops, bad teachers, bad garbage men --- bad people are just bad people.
What kind of twisted logic is it to think that beating innocent children promotes "living in a civil society"

dude, do u have a freakin' reading comprehension problem here? this is not a thread made to purely bash on police officers... it's a thread to show that there are some fugged up a-holes posing as police officers out there that are a disgrace to the uniform they wear... get off your damn soapbox & stop preaching & open your damn eyes.

Oh, he reads just fine, and there is nothing wrong with his eyes. To him that cop was completely justified to do whatever he wants and to whomever and really any other cop for that matter.
Every post has been some sort of castigation on society or the girl herself --- oh, he might call the cop a douchebag in passing, but then he goes right back on the girl and "criminals".
The conclusions he has drawn from that video speak volumes about his character and many others like him.

WTF was that all about? how do you arrest an EMT driver for rushing to the hospital w/a patient on board? funny how that white EMT driver wasn't the one being arrested or the one who was being choked by that state trooper... so pathetic.
