Knicks · Fire MDA (page 1)

if the knicks get chandler, which looks all but certain at this point, its time to finally show d'antoni the door and get a real coach to come in here and preach defense and toughness.

MDA is an offensive maestro who's system relies on tempo and having a great PG. the knicks have 2 great individual scorers in STAT & MELO, both of whom looked out of it when playing together in d'antoni's system.

with chandler coming, we have no need for offensive gimmicks. we need a coach, like we actually have now on the bench in mike woodson, who is going to emphasize team defense, winning the battle on the glass, and has an offensive system that simply maximizes what carmelo and amare do.

no need for anymore. if the knicks get chandler they should announce d'antoni's firing at the same press conference.

Ah. The season has truly begun!

LOL. exactly what i was going to say. all these whacky threads... THE NBA IS BACK!

unstopaball12 @ 12/8/2011 4:14 PM
Chandler actually thrives in the up and down pace. he also is great is the p&r
OjilEye @ 12/8/2011 4:14 PM
no seriously. MDA sucks. DEFENSE wins championships. this guy also has communication issues and plays wonky, erratic minutes for players without letting them know why.
technomaster @ 12/8/2011 4:17 PM
Scoring more than your opponents wins championships or stopping your opponents from scoring more wins championships.

Mike Woodson... he will be our beacon of hope. It's his job to make sure the team performs on that end of the floor.

minor correction

maybe we can trade MDA back to phoenix

MS @ 12/8/2011 4:33 PM
How about we actually give the guy a chance.

Year one - We were going to make the playoffs. But, they traded Crawford and Zo bo on him. And Walsh moved Thomas who was playing well for Larry Hughes

Year two - Moving the roster for more flexibility

Year three - Trading half your team for Melo

Nalod @ 12/8/2011 4:47 PM
Woodson is true championship caliber coach!

Pucking unreal!

POsters already getting pissed off!

Exactly...the damn coach has never had the same roster for more the 3 months...I'm not sure what fans expect from a revolving roster..miracles I guess..

Yep. Can't pay attention to these threads though. Its the same shit every year

Nalod @ 12/8/2011 4:59 PM
for waht we paid Larry Brown, we should be able to fire him again just to make fans happy!
nykshaknbake @ 12/9/2011 5:43 PM
What has he done in 3 years that was positive? Is there anything he can puit on his resume for that time except excuses?

growth of Will Chandler, Fields, Gallo not too bad.

What were your expectations of MDA within that time period given the circumstances?

to me its just about maximizing this window we have.

we just made a move for a defensive C. we have 2 of the best isolation scorers in the NBA.

d'antoni brings his offensive system which relies on good point guard play, tempo, and hardly emphasizes defense.

it just doesn't seem like a match. i'd rather be preemptive than realize 30 games into a 66 game season he's the wrong guy for this team.

yeah, this would be a perfect team for JVG or Phil Jax - aka guys who value defense and more traditional bball.

i don't hate d'antoni, but i can't say i think he's the right coach for this squad.

He should have been fired after his performance during year 2. If you think he is a capable coach then you have to think he mailed it in that year.
eViL @ 12/9/2011 5:56 PM
MDA is like bball coaches version of Tebow. i just wanna see the guy win so that "experts" can feel dumb. haha...
nixluva @ 12/9/2011 6:07 PM
People keep saying MDA needs a PG, but we haven't have a great PG here since he got here and the one thing you can say is that Offense hasn't been our problem!!! We've needed a defensive anchor for this team. Now that we have players that will defend at Center and at the guard spots, this team will show massive improvement on D.

Fields, Iman, TD, Jared and Shawne all actually play D at a good level. No one can say otherwise. Now you add Tyson behind them and you have the makings of a better defensive team. Add Woodson to help even further and I guarantee the Knicks will not be a bad defensive team anymore. Fields, Iman and TD can ball hawk and be aggressive now with a real Center behind them.

nychamp @ 12/9/2011 7:07 PM
Putting up offensive numbers has never been a problem under MDA. Regular season wins are easy to come by. But timely buckets that win big games have not been there. Defense has been non existent. Getting swept out of the playoffs last year was a clear indictment of his inability to coach and motivate at a higher level when the other team is playing hard, smart and with hunger. People who are stat lovers love MDA. People who respect winning know he's way, way overrated and not a championship caliber coach.
