Knicks · Jeremy Lin is a true PG and a free agent (Knicks get him!) (page 11)

I admit I am worried about our PG situation and the injury risk. I would like to see us kepp him or a third string PG as insurance. Maybe we waive Toney Douglas if Lin proves himself better, IDK. I am no expert on contracts etc. But TD isn't getting it done (same as all year last year).
Waiving TD if Lin proves himself better? Hold on, folks, this is getting insane.
TD may not be a point guard and may still need to improve in certain areas, but he is still a very talented player that brings a lot to the table both offensively and defensively. Lin is a young undrafted PG that has been waived by a few teams already. Yeah, its been because they need the roster spot, but still. He hasn't even suited up for NY and now he will make TD expendable? Geez, guys, come back to earth.
I hope Lin turns out to be a good signing and makes it hard to waive him, but don't make it look like its the second coming of Nash.
they're just trolling...they need to cut bait...they only get nibbles

He is an excellent PG who is arguably even better on defense than on offense at this stage of his career. Saw a couple of questions about defense and pick and roll--those are probably his two greatest strengths. He plays great position defense and still picks up big steals and blocks numbers; he also draws charges and helps out his teammates with quick and strong hands. I also saw poor man's Steve Nash, but in my opinion, his style is actually more like Joe Dumars or a young Jason Kidd. He is very athletic, but never showboats, so you don't often see it, as he just gets the job done. He repeatedly blew by the Spurs in preseason (3 driving layups and a look-away assist for a layup in only 5 minutes of playing time as he brought the Rockets back from 10 down to a tie game on his last driving layup). Lin got cut from Houston as he was the only unguaranteed contract out of the 15 players there, in order to make way for signing Dalembert. The biggest knock on Lin has been his mechanics on his outside shot, but he corrected it over the summer with a shooting coach and drilled a bunch of three-pointers in an exhibition game. I for one am thrilled he is on the biggest stage and can't wait to see how he performs.
Welcome to the board, upstate.
Thanks for your insight.
I'm looking forward to Jeremy making the most of this great opportunity.

TD is a two bit role player on a bad team it doesnt take an act of god to make him expendable. He had a starting job because of injuty or inability to get better players he is not the key to a championship!
We got Novak to be our instant offense of the bench and he shoots far superior percentage than TD. I think Shumpert will be a much better defensive player than TD so all the roles TD could fill, we seem to have a better player on the roster. His only value is as a third string PG (he sucks) and as the third scoring option (soon to be taken over by Baron and to lesser extent by Novak). I don't think we can cut him now, but if those guys pan out, then TD is definitely someon we can cut or trade whatever is easier.

Message to the board, No! we are not the same person....This reminds me of the Blueseats/Seatsblue days...Anyway, Welcome to the board upstate...Things might get a little confusing around though
Take the example of Tyson Chandler - Physically, he should dominate on both ends of the court with his all-world size, length, and quickness, leaping ability, overall athleticism. He never developed his footwork, a go-to move, a jump shot, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Jerome Jordan would regularly take him one-on-one.
Lots of examples of less-than-perfect athletic specimens have made it to all-star games - and plenty of others succeed in big-minute roles with less than ideal physical tools.
It just means that Lin's skills and intangibles need to be top notch to overcome relative T-rex arms. :)

Thanks, also to Uptown (not the same person!), looking forward to seeing the GS game. Lin should have some extra adrenaline given the history. Would love to see Lin be the next in a line of good NY players that GS lost.

A. Perhaps you need to work on your defensive stance and footwork. Zumba classes are forming now. I got my masters at a pretty good school and deal up those high school dropouts every chance I get.
Q. Panos - Who gives a rats ass that he went to Harvard?
A. No one, really. It's cited more a fun fact in the same manner Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, because we know ALL Ivy League types are soft, right?
Q. Panos - Are you guys flippin' for real?
A. Absolutely. We have a Jeremy Lin fan club and everything. We are juiced.
Was the fan club salvaged from the remnants of the Devi Green club, that formed to the left? Or was it the right, I've lost track...
the attention whore(s) needs to be a founding member of every possible fan club so later on we have to hear about how he was a founding member of that person's fan club... somehow the 1.07 Points Per Fan Club guy is getting 37 shots a game. Someone needs to yank his ass from the game

wait I'm confused... is Bippity01 and Bippity10 The same person? I would think so. But then again, why would he split his post count up? Or is it a way to fake conversation. I am so confused.

I think TD is getting beat on a bit too much. The guy is not a PG. I think every one is in agreement. But to call him a 2 bit player is just very wrong. He shoots the 3 at a very good clip, defends and can finish at the rim. His mid range is good also. Players like this are extremely valuable as 6th and 7th men. He's not someon you just jettison. Once he's coming off the bench people will remember why he's valuable.
To want to write him off because Jeremy Lin and Steve Novak are on the roster is absurd.
Not a complete picture of him yet. not TD but TBD.
And let's not forget that we have a shorten training camp, and all things considered, he SHOULD have the biggest hurdle to cross on this team; integrating Amare, Melo, Chandler and a second round SG who is also figuring stuff out ain't easy.
I'm waiting until at least end of season to put a stamp on TD's game.

He can be frustrating to watch at times. I do no think he's a lead guad or an off guard. But he can be very valuable as the first guard off the bench.
I don't understand how TD doesn't get a little wiggle room because of this. He is what is, and an improved version at that. It just seems silly to blame TD for the structural flaws of the roster.
If TD's ceiling is as a potential sixth man of the year, is that really so bad?

Not me. He has shown enough. Seems to have a limited ceiling. But I hope I'm wrong about TD.

what's his limit? I know he won't be Nash any time soon, but what?
