the 5 MLE could of been huge but they would of wasted in on similar players to Kidd and Camby instead of a 25 year old like Brandon Wright

I still dont understand why they gave him 4 years.Giving him the 4th year turned the contract into a bad 1. Had they gone 3 and let him expire with everyone else you can live with it. The Knicks seem to do that type of thing every time.
$3.5 mil per is OK for Novak. If we didn't have $141 mil tied up on the "big 4," no one would even care about Novak's salary.

I thought so at the time, but when Cope signs for only 2 yrs and $3mil per, it makes you question it!
Well giving how the Knicks trades has turned out lately Novak will return to NY after the year is over.
At leaste one players usually returns when traded from NY.

Well every contract is lower now than then
Looking back on it the length of the contract was bad. Still have no problem with the salary. Our team lived off the 3 ball.

Its more the years then the amount. Knicks should of never went 4

Novak was signed with Bird's rights money. It couldn't have been spent on anyone else. This came up last year after he was signed and some were suggesting other uses for the money that could only be spent on Novak because of the cap situation. Kidd was mmle and Camby was a sign and trade. After winning the birds rights case the Knicks thought they could keep Lin and use their mmle on another player. Kidd and Camby were called the two most important additions to last years team with at least some experts speculating that the addition of Camby would allow Tyson to get rest, and stay healthy without there being a let down on the floor on the defensive end. At the time Camby seemed like a good move as did Kidd. There was talk that Kidd was supposed to mentor Lin before he got his poison pill deal that Morey is trying to get rid of now.
