Knicks · How about Wallace Thomas + (page 1)

Brewer and a future # 1 protected to Dallas for Brand and Carter.
gunsnewing @ 1/29/2013 6:14 PM
Can we include JR?
Anji @ 1/29/2013 6:17 PM
Brand would be money in the starting line up.

He would be perfect and so would Carter. Im not a believer in this team as is. I think its somewhat close--but a deal like this would put us right up at the top. We could rely on these players--they dont need big minutes but with Chandler Amare Brand upfront Carter Felton with JR and Kidd back up all around Anthony--we would be tough to beat. Ill give up a 1 for that easily.

nyk4ever @ 1/29/2013 6:34 PM
briggs, why would the mavs ever do this?
Anji @ 1/29/2013 6:35 PM
Tearing down the team???

Neither Carter or Brand are in the teams future plans.

I'm not too sure about VC, but Brand would be a huge addition.

GodSaveTheKnicks @ 1/29/2013 6:40 PM
I would do this trade in a heartbeat. Carter has really added a lot of dimensions to his game and is defending the best he ever has. Brand is solid all around and a great veteran presence all around.

but there's no way I see Dallas doing this unless the pick ends up with flimsy protection which I am not down with.

Id let it go with only top 6 protected--that is fair. That would give us a team that could truly truly compete for the next 2 years--what draft pick is worth that?

Isn't one of the most valuable things to have in today's NBA is an All-Star level talent or even a solid starter on a rookie contract?

I get what you're saying that most guys drafted in the Lottery are out of the league by the end of their rookie contract but the chance of catching lightning in a bottle is something I hate giving up.

Examples of lighting in a bottle past pick # 6:

2012 in a "weak draft": Terrence Ross and Andre Drummond are looking solid.
2011: Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, SHUMP! Faried, Jimmy Butler, Isiah Thomas (60th pick!)

I mean just from 2011 every single one of those guys would be making a major impact on this season's team in just their 2nd season after a lockout shortened rookie season.

In terms of winning during this Melo/Amare/Chandler era it's hard to say that Vince/Elton Brand are easy to choose over say..Andre Drummond to give Chandler some rest while we still get a monster rebounder, shot blocker, pick and roll finisher. Klay Thompson would be AWESOME in spacing the floor for Melo and a solid defender already.

You have to give to get. Why would the Mavs do something like this unless they were enticed. Well be good for the next 2-3 years so I would not worry about a pick. That is the enticement part for the Mavs--soon their season will be worth 0 and then brand and carter are worth 0. a future # 1 pick with little protection is not a bad way to start rebuilding. But bottom line is we would have to entice them.

gunsnewing @ 1/29/2013 7:12 PM
I don't think that is enough enticing maybe if JR was added but i don't see the Knicks shaking this team up now when they are finally trying to develop some kind of cohesion

The Knicks as is are not better than Miami and Chicago with Rose(or without him). Indiana is probably tied as is Atlanta. Why not try to go over the top?

StarksEwing1 @ 1/29/2013 7:48 PM
we need another big body who can rebound. cant rely on camby/sheed too old and injur prone
gunsnewing @ 1/29/2013 7:52 PM
We don't the pieces to make moves to significantly put us over the top. The team went all in on this year. JR, Amare, late 1st & 2nd round picks won't net anything of signifance. Guys like Brewer, White and Thomas have no value. We don't have an up and coming young player on the bench to entice a team to make a trade for a guy like Brand who last year was a borderline allstar. Unless we are going to trade Shumpert which I would be completely against since he is the Knicks starting SG for years to come

damn right, ain't movin' Shumpert for sh1t!! (sorry, I don't usualy talk like that, just felt like the right thing to say)

and I really don't care that much who we get if we can get a reliable big man doing a big man's job. seriously, like anyone aside from Kwame Brown/Robert Sacre type players. (seriously how did they get into the league?)

MSG3 @ 1/29/2013 10:07 PM
I'd throw JR in this deal.
RonRon @ 1/29/2013 10:38 PM
I don't think Mav's could trade Brand because of was picked up as an Amnestied player
However, if they were willing to trade Brandon Wright and Carter, you would still go for it?

Mav's might want to make playoffs if they can and still be as competitive as possible

but their #1 priorities include

1) acquiring as many asset's as they can
2) keeping their salary low
3) acquiring the "ALL STAR" at the right price, more ideal with signing rather than trading

IronWillGiroud @ 1/29/2013 10:58 PM
Alright let's do it
