With what? He made good moves last year and the season before, but under the cba it's tough to keep anyone you do find. That bits not his fault. Out of thin air he's found:

Cope
Priggs
And took chances on K-mart and JR that paid off.
Only bad thing is all the picks he's given away.

Nope, I hate it as much as you- but one more offseason of it and we've got our flexibility back. Under this cba the key is to keep your picks- it's the only way to keep talent one your over the apron.

Not really about 1 day plus or minus. I was just thinking back about how we were trying to reacquire the draft pick we just drafted?? We make good finds in Lin and Copeland--but we didnt use tam options for 3 years to keep their salaries low and the players with us. We give away picks when we dont need to overpaying on every trade. We just did the over 35 thing with the bigs last year--now we are moving to the smalls? We sign Novak Camby and Kidd for 12mm and then a year later one is retired the other two moved for Barganai who no one wanted--and we had to give them three picks. Just the way we do things--we set ourselves up for problems. Its not about emotion--its about management
Knick's core is locked in and there really aren't major moves to be made outside of trading from the core.
The pickup of Barg's could be a huge win or a huge bust. Let's wait and see how that pans out. I think Grunwald has generally done well at finding players that contribute that many teams did not consider or would not sign (Cope, Prig, Kenyon). Perhaps Barg's falls into this cat. and returns to form. I am not saying he will but there is some upside as far as shooting and scoring.

Steven Adams has a LONG way to go.
Which ties into my other post of him being in over his head as lead GM. Need to bring in a more establish GM and coach and rebuild the right way this time if we still can after 2015

core hasn't changes. Knicks adjusted after it didn't work.
The core doesn't work and it's locked in. There's nothing Grunwald or anybody can do about that, really. Grunwald's job is to maximize the pieces around the core, but it won't matter as long as the core is defective.

He has done well with the 1 year deal guys Copeland , Prigs , Kmart, JR. All the moves after the 1 year deals werent that great though
Felton was the best move by far. His contract is good value to which is amazing.

how did the plan changed? we traded two old guys and didn't resign another. if anything, all we did was add a versatile offensive player in bargs and got slightly younger.
how is that changing course? core is exactly the same.

I was saying this on another board the bad moves and overpaying snowballs into other deals making it a never ending string. U overpay Novak then u have to overpay to get rid of him. Every time they do something they givve an extra year, give an extra million, give an extra draft pick, give an extra player. Doing that adds up. There is no way u will ever build a championship team like the Knicks do business. Its been done by all the GM's they are always chasing. it has to be the owner

Grunwald is just as responsible he is the fool that amnestied Billups that took away a huge amount of flexibility. He locked us in we had the get of jail free card and wasted it

I am not sure that is accurate. He worked Jorts, Jordan and Gadz contracts so that they were team options for the second year. There was a report yesterday that he wanted Prigs to sign a two year deal last year but Prigs would only commit to one year.
I don't know, but from my perspective, this team is looking like it's gonna be better than last years team. We won 54 without much contribution from our bench of vets. Even Kidd faded demonstrably after the 1st month or so. This teams most important core is still here and we've added some talent as well. Plus there are still roster slots to fill.
It seems that for some it was necessary to make a huge splash trade in order for this off season to be a success. Was that ever really a sure thing? Exactly how could Gruny have made a big deal with practically nothing to offer? The only thing he could've done was not re-sign Prigs and try to use the full Mini MLE on someone. Still don't know if that move would make this team that much better.
I think this team improves mostly with continuity and internal growth. Prigs takes his rightful place in the rotation from the start and that automatically makes the team better which statistics prove. Add in some help from AB giving this team another potent scorer and most likely with a younger and healthier bench. I think THJ gives us a player who can fill in for what we got from Cope and didn't get from White. I believe Shump will take another step forward in his development. IMO this team will be better. We may be forced to go with younger players to finish off the roster and that could be a blessing in disguise.
PF downgrade, vets a year older, and Copeland and probably K-Mart gone? While many teams in the east improved? The only plus is that Shumpert should be healthy.
I'd predict a win change of about -7
