This is something Woody should've done from day one. He talked a good game about Accountability, but he never really applied it to JR. This I couldn't ever understand. It's like he had a blind spot for JR or something. That's bad coaching (parenting)! You can't have different rules like that. JR was allowed to get away with just about anything and faced no real consequences. Maybe now we've reached a new day and can finally move forward the right way.

Nixluva - how in hell do you know what Mike Woodson has done away from the cameras?

The fact is, other than third hand reports, you don't have a wiretap, or reliable view, for any player-coach interaction. None. So how can you assume what the dialogue has been?

Your assumptions only speak to your D'Antoni-centric aganda

Maybe because he has eyes? Woodson didn't bench him before this happened - even with all the other things he did that could have called for it. Had Woodson benched him before, we would have see it.

Is everything Nix says nullified because he defended D'antoni?

Reading an article about JR's benching and they mentioned Nate Robinsons 14 game benching back in the D'Antoni days. I remember that (and when he went on a rampage upon his return to the court), but I don't remember what the tipping point was- was it just his behaviour in general or a particular incident?

Was it the shooting on his own basket thing?

Maybe- I can't remember! There were a lot of incidents with Nate (the naked fight in the shower, and charging at Jerome James with a broom or something. I didn't realise the benching lasted 14 games- wonder how many JR's will last!

I actually never heard that one...wtf

With that said though Nate's game where he returned against Atlanta was one of the most fun games I watched in recent memory (mostly because I hated D'antoni).

Yep, and it's impressive to have that sort of game when you've been benched for so long:

I remember that one Nate wasn't afraid of anyone. Even with the yeoman's work he put in to keep the Bulls afloat when Rose when down, Thibs still didn't want anything to do with NAte and he looks like he is up to his old tricks in Denver.

I remember that game too, he sure was fun. Not like Al Harrington who was just plain maddening.

Woodson followed up with a even better move by inserting Jr into the game at the right time...

Had woodson been able to humble that dude weeks ago we would be much better

if woodson would have stop flip flopping with KMart and Amare we would be much better.

He's finally coming together...and the players are playing like a team..

Imo MWP and Beno are out unless injuries
When we get back fully healthy he can't go back to scratching his head like a cartoon character.

Agree except about Kmart and Amare. Woodson was told those guys were on minute and game limits. Also, while I love KMart, he missed a bunch of games with a 'sore ankle'? The guy has had micro fracture surgery on both knees. He and Odom are the only two players that have had that done on both knees and I don't think Odom has played many if any minutes since his other knee was done. I also think there is something to be said to what Wally pointed out the other night. Melo on the bench observed what was wrong and changed his game to make things better. How about that? The guy was playing like a top 10 player and now is playing like a top 2.

I guess u can say the same for felton as far as watching the game and noticing what was missing.

Maybe it was management, but we heard Amare goto woodson and plea for more minutes, saying woodson was making him look washed up. I knew he had life left, it was just a matter of time. Then he is finally getting his number call consistently in the post.

So Woodson get zero credit for Melo changing his game, Zero credit for Felton, zero credit for the team playing better, Zero credit for all of last year, Zero credit for 18-6, Zero credit for sticking with Shump, Zero credit bringing along TimJr slowly, Zero credit for JR last year and working on his turn around..

Don't forget, last season was a fluke too- just sheer luck all those 3 pointers went in all year.

This is a "What have you done for me lately" league, He was getting love for his coaching back then.

The Team was 12 games under .500 before this little spurt and still 8 games under now..you don't get praises for that kind of record,at the end of the day it falls on his shoulders..

You want woodson to get treated like an ELITE coach, where he gets a pass for doing dumb shhht because he's won a ring, or even made it to a conference finals. He hasn't, so he's day to day in my book (subsitute teacher)

Coaching for the Knicks is a tough job. This year the situation became much more complicated when the gm was fired and the owner took a hands on approach in regards to the roster, playing time, starters and rotations. The Knicks also had a lot of guys coming back from offseason surgeries.

One problem I still have with Woodson is that he refuses to play Tyler. At the end of the Sixers game, with a minute and 30 seconds left and the game decided, why would he put in Aldrich instead of Tyler? Tyler is a potential future asset for our team, Aldrich has very little upside in comparison. If one player will be in your future plans and the other will not, why the hell aren't you giving him a shot?
