Rockets, Sixers talk about Jeremy Lin
Rockets want to clear cap space
NBA
Jake Fischer: Hearing that Rockets & Sixers are in fluid trade talks surrounding Jeremy Lin. HOU waiting to unload Lin's deal if it signs Melo or Lebron.
The Rockets initially engaged the Sixers in Lin trade talks prior to and during the Draft, including discussions about the No. 25 pick.

...Morey meeting w/Melo and dealing Lin at the same time. sounds like BS.
s the pieces get shuffled one way or the other in the first few days of NBA Free Agency, the landing spots for LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony remain a mystery. The Houston Rockets are doing their best to woo Melo at the moment, but before any pen can get to paper, they'd have to free up cap space to sign him for how much he'll be worth. And though Omer Asik has already been swept to New Orleans, there's still the matter of Jeremy Lin.
This has been in our thoughts for some time. Lin has just one year remaining on his contract (cap hold of $8.37M), so it wouldn't be much of a financial commitment. But the question is what the Sixers could pry from Houston in exchange for being nice and swallowing his contract up into their Blue Whale stomach-sized amount of cap space.
The prospect of another Daryl Morey and Sam Hinkie trade is always exciting in its own right. But I'd also be pumped about Jeremy Lin in a Sixers uniform. Would get a whole bunch of different fans interested in the team and backing up Michael Carter-Williams -- or even playing next to him -- would just be a good time. And it's only one year. I'd absorb 2014 Derrick Coleman at $8.37M if a first rounder was coming with him.

I think this is something Morey already had set up. I think it is just a matter of what he has to give the sixers to take on that huge deal for a back up to Carter-Williams
Didn't Morey's protoge take the Sixers job not too long ago? That was how the got rid of the Royce White circus too.
All about who you know, apparently...

I think you are right.
Better hope the Rockets do an awful recruiting pitch, because it's clear Morey doesn't want to give us anything at all for Melo.
I don't know maybe it is a play to get Thad young off the books.

I am hoping Melo is in the 'not a fan of Dwight' camp.

Starting to feel the same way -- forget all about James Harden. I think Morey wants to team Melo up with D12 AND Harden. Which is smart by the way (they don't have to play together -- let Harden resume a 6th man role. That'd be awesome firepower to behold)...Heard on NBA TV that Harden's supposed to be present with Howard at the meeting to welcome Melo.
I honestly thought that the Russian was getting Lin to stick it to Dolan.

why is LALA not on this tour with him, if one of his major concerns is about up rooting his family, you would think part of the pitch would be the neighborhoods, schools and so forth.
Is this normal? to not bring in the fam

That and he realizes that team still wouldn't be a lock to finish in the Western Conference finals. I would still pick that Houston team behind the Spurs, Thunder and Clippers.

Also, I don't think Houston is winning anything with McHale as coach. I read somewhere that one of the reasons Melo is considering Houston is because of McHale so maybe he is a positive in this scenario.
Wouldn't rule out a sign and trade to raptors for Lowry
I thought the Rockets looked pathetic in the play offs- don't see how Melo puts them over the top.

It would be an awful fit, especially chemistry wise- none of those three have leadership or championship personalities.
