Ive watched them and he's played very well. I even think hes been decent on the D and uses his strength well to get rebounds get inside for shots etc.. I mean he is shooting near 50% from 3 ball. Maybe with our team getting to mplay with some better bigger players perhaps he can help set up for better shots by having the dual threat ability to shoot a 3 or drive--we can use him to help spread our offense a little more with CONSISTENCY and take some pressure off of Grant for now.
fredette fits in very well with the current state of the nba. he can shoot the lights out and you can touch anyone shooting the ball now, defensively, so i would love to see him recalled.

For me, Jimmer still don't pass the eye test to play at the NBA level and let's face it, any 10 day signing unless it's an upgrade over what we have isn't going to get minutes. I doubt very much Jimmer gets a 10 day from the Knicks. At this point in the season and with the roster we have, I am keeping an eye towards the trade deadline.
Wroten is a guy you can plug into the 2nd unit right now. We really need a guy who can break down a defense and get the other team out of defensive position. Wroten looks like he plays under control and has good court vision when he attacks the basket. If anything, he brings a skill with his good handle, length and athleticism that we are missing at the G position. We already have Calderon, what do we need Jimmer for?
Im not a buyer. Granted I have only seen one of the d league games and some highlights but Jimmer looks like a baseball AAAA player. Better than the AAA crowd, but not really good enough to thrive in the show.
He sure can shoot it... will be interesting if they bring him up and what the expectation is

I made a dumb mistake in first thinking about Fredette.
He's 6'2" . . . which doesn't usually mean "big" to me.
But the guy IS big in the upper body and shoulders. Strong.

He might be 6'2 but I'm not sure he has the length as the NBA guards at his height....He can still be an impact player, along the lines of Galloway. But I don't think he will be that much better than Gallo....Plus, I don't see any teams knocking down doors to sign him to a 10 day contract. That says a lot about both Jimmer and Wooten. But I always love the hometown stories, of a NY kid making it in the NBA, playing for his hometown team. It's a great headline and if Dolan had his way, he would've been signed already, just to add more ticket sales and revenue bump at home games. Jimmer has a huge Tebow like following, in the NYC / LongIsland area. All it takes is a few 20 plus games and a hot streak to increase that following outside of NY.
Freddette never had a problem with his own offense. Dude can get buckets all over the court. It's all about his basketball IQ. If he gets called up he's got to prove he can run the offense and improve his shot selection. The guy is exactly like Steph Curry but he's got to prove he can be Steph Curry from 2010 before he can be 2016 Steph Curry.
Low risk move, worth a shot and a call up to see what happens.

He's certainly not an established star.
But I think we all underestimate how much of life in the NBA has to do with finding a good fit for your talent.

Yeah i think some people don't take into account that the d-league and the NBA are two totally different leagues. All these kids that play in the d-league can make themselves look like studs and like they'd be good/great in the NBA but it's a whole nother beast when they go from playing against career d-league players and euro league players and players that either never got drafted by a NBA team or did get drafted and couldn't make it in the NBA. But i'm rooting hard for Jimmer to be one of the few exceptions and come up to the NBA with our Knicks and show enough for us to give him a contract. What he does on the court is a lot of what we need and to be able to get a player with his skills for as cheap as we'd be able to get him would be huge for us cause we'd be able to fill a big whole with Jimmer and still have a nice chunk of money to fill other needs in the off season.
I think jimmer has never had a opportunity in this league. He's probably loving his time in the d league it's the most he's played since byu. And his shooting numbers are showing his confidence. If jimmer can contribute as a back up to Jose. It moves Gallo to his real position as a back up 2. Have grant as the 3rd pg because you don't know if your going to get vintage Jose or old man no defense Jose. Then jimmer and grant can man the pg.
The way the jimmer can score and shoot we should bring him up and give him a run. If it works then we move Jose at the trade deadline .. I feel jimmer is head over heels a upgrade over Jose at this point in Josie's carreer. They are both great shooters jimmer is more aggressive with shooting and he can take it to the hole . There is no way he can be worse then Jose on defense NO WAY . Jose is lucky we have Lopez and KP because on any given night his opponent can get to the paint at will. Jimmer a defense looks much improved since being in the d league..
Give jimmer a shot he can't be as bad as Jose I know Jose has had some vintage games of late but how long will that last.
I think it is absolutely worth a shot. He has been playing well. Maybe the Triangle is a good system for him, as opposed to some of the others he's been in.
I can see Jimmer being successful on this team given the nature of his game and what we actually need. He's gonna get the same looks that Jose passes up and that our other guards can get where they aren't as skilled offensively to take advantage of it. He's not the Longest or Most Athletic guard but he's crafty and know how to get space to get his shot off. If he's been able to learn the nuances of the system well enough by now he could be successful. Heck if Jose can get open I can't imagine Jimmer won't be able to. If they bring him up I hope it all works cuz this team is on the edge of being in this playoff mix.
Its good that Briggs is keeping an eye on Westchester for the knicks. Those 36 ring guys are obviously busy trying to keep up with the modern jargon and how to reset the blinking clock on the VCR to notice whats up.
Dleague plays 48 games, and Westchester knicks practice in the same gym as the knicks so I can't imagine what in gods name they are doing!!!
My take is Jimmer has a list of things to do. If he can do them, he could stick or he thinks Phil and the Rings are wrong he can stay on the fringe of last man and hope he can make another roster and perhaps have a linsanity moment. That's doubtful, so somewhere in the dusty back rooms where Phil and his wisemen smoke cigars and tell tales of the rings the subject of Jimmer might have come up and how he can fit in the system.
Is it foot speed? Release of his shot? Penetration quickness? I don't know. Jimmer is tearing up the Dleague but we all know there is a gap and he is on the fringe. So when he gets his homework completed and graded he might get a real chance. If not, why bother? stay for 10 days and not get any run won't do much for him. His goal need be work his way into a rotation and get a contract.
Wooten might be a very good player and a talent upgrade is he what the Rings want?
The fact that teams (good and bad) waived this guy is enough for me to stay clear of him unless one of the current guards we have go down, im more interested in playing a set rotation and continue building chemistry, rather than bringing in another player and finding minutes for him.
This is not a tank season "let me see what you got season". If were eliminated crom playoff contention, them the experiments can start

I haven't been a fan of his, but at this point I have to say that I would not go crazy if he got a 10 day contract.
Let him practice with the team, get him some minutes, and see if he can give the Knicks some kind of spark.
Best think for Jimmer would be for him to emphasize his ability to distribute if he practices with the Knicks, and not try to be the BYU version of himself.
Have to figure that the Knicks' brain trust has a good idea of what he can do at this point, and if they don't do a 10 day with him they have a very good reason for making that decision.

Popovich had good things to say about Fredette. No reason for that unless it's true -- Popovich is no BS-er.
Just no room for him on the talented San Antonio roster.

I would think that the Knicks will continue to look for upgrades. You can't build a winner if you settle on talent and aren't actively looking to get better and better. Development is fine but you also have to look at the possibility of upgrading your talent when you can. It won't cost us anything to take a look.
The thing with signing Fredette to a 10-day contract - they have to make sure he would actually see minutes or at least get to play with the team through some full practices. It's useless to sign him to a 10-day deal and not give him minutes.
I don't see any negatives to a 10 day contract. We have the spot on the bench available, and could use the shooting. I see it as an extremely low risk move, with extremely high potential for reward.
I think a D-league stint was exactly what Jimmer needed. He lost all confidence in his shot while rotting away on the bench for 4 seasons.

G – Elliot Williams, Santa Cruz Warriors:
It seems as though Williams is the most likely player to be called-up at some point this season since he’s the No. 1 D-League prospect, according to the league’s rankings. It should come as no surprise then that Williams is leading the D-League in scoring at 28.1 points per game. He’s also adding 7.1 assists, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting an even 50 percent from the field. Williams figures to be one of the most scouted players this week when the D-League Showcase kicks off on Wednesday. Each of the 19 D-League teams will be playing two games over the five-day showcase, giving players plenty of chances to catch the eye of potential teams.
G – Sean Kilpatrick, Delaware 87ers:
Kilpatrick seems to be right behind Williams in terms of players poised to earn a call-up. Kilpatrick ranks as the No. 2 prospect in the D-League, and is tied for second in scoring with 26.1 points per game. On his resume this season is a 45-point outing at the beginning of December where he knocked down 6-of-8 shots from three-point range. He’s hitting 3.3 three-pointers per game and is converting on 45 percent of those shots. It’s possible Kilpatrick could earn a call-up from the 76ers at some point. Although the Sixers already have 15 players on their team, several of those players are on non-guaranteed deals and could be cut by the deadline this weekend, which could open up a spot for Kilpatrick.
