without reading his mind, we have no idea what his motivation was.
Makes him someone who wanted to come to NY regardless if it was a smart or stupid decision.
The same motivations for him is available for everyone else but nobody has made any moves to come here but him. In his prime he could have went to almost any other team. Could have upped his profile and made the same money on many other teams other then the Knicks.
He has also said it multiple times.
who says that others would not have come? How many times did we have the assets to even make such a move? The other option was Deron Williams at that time, do you think that he did not want to come here?

He would have no choice if Utah traded him away. That's not the same as choosing to come here. Melo made the Knicks his destination or preference and told Denver he wasn't going to resign with them. The only other person who did something similar was Rasheed Wallace but Detroit won the Chip and he stayed. We also had a top 6 lottery pick(turned into Gallo), top 8 lottery pick(turned into Hill) which could have been moved for a star if they wanted to come here.

he may have also wanted the trade because of the extra guaranteed money vx. chancing the lockout and losing the extra year. Who else could have traded for him? The Nets? No contest.

Here's some accurate facts:
1)Never won a MVP
2)Never advanced to the NBA Finals
3)Never made an All NBA First team or All NBA Defensive team
4)Never averaged 50% FG percentage for a single season
5)Never averaged 5 assists in a single season
6)Never made it out of the 2nd round in a weak east
7)Never had a coach on the Knicks that lasted more than a couple seasons (played for 5 different head coaches already)
8)Never should have played in that All Star game delaying much needed rehab helping lead to his god awful start to this season
9)Never should have resigned with the Knicks knowing we were in a rebuild, and would have multiple losing seasons, taking over a third of our cap, leaving us with likes of role players like Robin Lopez, Arron Affalo, and Derrick Williams to choose from (no offense to mighty RoLo fans).
10)Never should have insisted on that NTC that now handicaps the franchise that made him wealthy 10 times over, leaving them no choice but to sit idly while he collects unwarranted paycheck after paycheck until 2019.Should I continue, or are all these facts considered delusional or exaggeration?
9× NBA All-Star (2007–2008, 2010–2016)
2× All-NBA Second Team (2010, 2013)
4× All-NBA Third Team (2006–2007, 2009, 2012)
NBA scoring champion (2013)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (2004)
NBA Rookie Challenge MVP (2005)
USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year (2006)
NCAA champion (2003)
NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player (2003)
Consensus second-team All-American (2003)
USBWA National Freshman of the Year (2003)
Nash, Lebron and Curry won eight of the 12 MVP awards available during Melo's career.
Melo's Denver years were dominated by the Lakers and Spurs (7 out of 9 appearances between them) and NY years by whoever Lebron played for (Cavs, Heat). So far, your argument is that he in not Lebron.
Um...Lebron made the First Team as SF 10 out of 12 years... Nope - still not Lebron.
Not sure what the FG% proves, if anything. Still not Lebron (56%)
Only Lebron and Durant Averaged more than 5 dimes from the SF position. Melo's 4.2 this year is the 4th best SF overall. But, no, he is not Lebron.
Sure seems like you are data dredging here. Ahah -- never shot a hook shot from half court to win the game on New Year's eve. Lebron did though... and Melo isn't Lebron.
Not sure how many coaches Lebron has lasted with. Probably had a coach with three years in Miami...still, Melo is not Lebron.
Never should have played in the All Star game? In a tank year where they shut him down after?
Never should have re-signed? Its his fault? (I'm a DWILL fan by the way, but no offense taken.)
Now you are just bitter...because Melo is not Lebron. Same analysis pretty much works for Durant.

I doubt the Knicks were the only team in the league that had the pieces to trade for him. Melo could have demanded to go to any team, since he had an expiring contract he would be able to control where he went by refusing a contract extension. You don't think other teams in the league at the deadline, knowing Melo was possibly available were trying to get him. If Melo decided that he no longer wanted to go to the Knicks and that he was interested in LA then Denver would have to work a package of Bynum and Artest and future picks or something along those lines or risk losing him for nothing. If he chose Chicago then Denver would have to work a deal like Deng, Boozer or Gibson, and future picks.

I never mentioned Lebron. Paul Pierce is the model Melo should be striving for, because he's not in the same dimension, latitude, atmosphere, planet as Lebron or Durant.
Melo has not been fortunate enough to play with two in prime allstars on the knicks as pierce got to do in Boston.
Pierce and Melo are going into the Hall of fame.
Lebron is the only player in this era that can carry a franchise. Not Melo, not pierce, not curry, etc etc. We all know this.

Don't waste your time citing facts to the "enlightened" minority. They'd much rather sit in a little circle jerk counting the days until 2019-20.
I'm sure PP won all sorts of awards and chips before that first major colluded starphucque occurred.
Soon we will get to read about how we should concentrate on deciding Melo's actually turning 40 years old this summer.

True. Played with Chauncey Billups twice in his career and Kmart twice in his career. Still couldn't get over the hump. Having talent around him was never an issue in his career.
Guy is simply a 3rd tier "superstar". Ain't nothing wrong with that. Probably in the same class as a Vince Carter or Dominique that couldn't elevate his game or those around him to elite status.
The Answer, for all his flaws, actually willed a Pathetic Sixers team with Eric Snow and Aaron McKie to the friggin NBA Finals. Melo couldn't even get a dunk past Roy Hibbert in the 2nd round.

pierce has been a better nba player and has had a better nba career. much better. he is an nba finals mvp. and he was a leader on those title-contending teams. and he was always a better, more willing passer. his footwork and handle have been practically peerless. and he has always been a better defender. really no comparison.

When his colleague was Antoine Walker, not so much.
Im far from a Melo lover.
Melo played with over the Hill Iverson, and never with the others I mentioned. ChuckBucky has his agenda and is blind to any reason. Thats ok. Yes, I do believe you can take a 3rd tier star and pair with an elite talent will elevate if so willing. That is my hope.
I am long on record to objecting to the trade but that is not the issue anymore. WE are better with him. he is no messiah, nor was pierce alone. Pierce greatest asset was not really all the things you mentioned but a stone cold killer in the clutch. Melo has not had many opportunities as there has not been many important games.

yes he has the clutch gene too, but i think you can't discount the numbers he put up once walker was traded. studying them you can clearly see how walker's play hindered pierce. you see this phenomenon all the time, especially on the knicks. some players simply have games that crush chemistry. walker is a case in point.

Not Melo, not pierce, not curry, etc etc. We all know this.pierce has been a better nba player and has had a better nba career. much better. he is an nba finals mvp. and he was a leader on those title-contending teams. and he was always a better, more willing passer. his footwork and handle have been practically peerless. and he has always been a better defender. really no comparison.
Save your breath, you do know that Chuck has a love affair with Lin, therefore the hate for Melo. You can't talk sense to a jilted lover.
