Other than the Lance part, I don't think any of this happens without the DRose trade.
I agree.

Sessions is a far better floor general and has been grossly undervalued throughout his career despite being able to be a starter in a pinch. I'd prefer him to Jennings.

I don't think the Knicks could create that much space unless they traded KOQ or renounced Lance Thomas. Keeping Lance is essential.

Also, I think Jennings is the better player with a much higher ceiling. Jennings was great as a floor general in Detroit before his injury. He was playing out of his frickin' mind. IF he's healthy, he could be a HUGE steal.

We're talking about ceilings? How old is Jennings? How long has he been in the league. At this point, he is what he is. Same with Sessions. But I agree with you about Jennings' time in DET pre-injury. The game started coming easier to him before that stroke of misfortune.

I think Jennings is still only 26. He came into the league at 18 or 19 after playing a pro year in Italy. I wanted the Knicks to draft him after they missed out on Steph Curry. Instead we got Jordan Hill.

This has been the off-season of righting draft wrongs with Noah and Jennings. And even Rose. Hopefully not too late.

he has something to prove and he may get his chance in new york. i will be relentless in my critique and high in my praise depending on how good a teammate he is in every sense of the word.

He's wanted to play for the Knicks his whole life. I think he will not mess up the opportunity. I'm very excited.

Right. I was so pissed when they passed obpn him in the draft. Then every time he came to the garden he played great. Also, great point about his play in Detroit preinjury. Rjax isn't there if Jennings doesn't get hurt. This is the most unexpected and exciting signing of this offseason for me.

I was skeptical about trading Rolo (good value) for Rose who has been a shell of his former self, and not psyched about Noah who I also think will be damaged goods (I'll be thrilled to be wrong about that one).
But I think the Lee signing was a reasonable one given the insanity in the market, and this Jennings signing is just fantastic value, assuming he comes back from the injury ok. To have a backup PG who could be a starter on another team, who is better than any PG we had on the roster last year as a backup and for only $5m, is a tremendous coup. Esp, cuz we're going to need him to start when rose goes down.

Yup - this is how I feel as well. 1 YR/$5M for Jennings is a bargain.

Jennings loves MSG. He has always played with Fire and passion every time he faces this team and even more so at the Garden. It will be really nice to have that passion fighting for us on any given night.

Just go on youtube and search "Brandon Jennings highlights 2016" and you'll see enough evidence that physically he has already come back from his injury. With a year under his belt after the injury and an off season of just working on his game versus rehab (like Rose) I don't see how anybody can not like this move.

For a one year rental at 5 million, this is a good deal. Sorry to see Williams go in part because we yet again lose a good healthy player, and getting another one with knee problems.

Still, Dwill might not have come back, and Phil can bail on our PGs if Westbrook is interested in coming to NY. This team will have some attitude next season, hopefully more wins as well.

What knee problems has he had? His last major injury was a torn achilles tendon.

I honestly think that there is a greater chance Jennings sticks here than DRose.

Don't sleep - Jennings has vocally dreamed of being a Knick his entire career. I don't think he will let this opportunity pass him by. He's gonna be very very very good here.

My bad, his acl was more serious, his knee injury was relatively minor. Still dont like losing another healhty player who raised their game last season.

He had seemed to accept coming off the bench in Detroit and Orlando after returning from the injury so we shouldn't have any problems in that regard. And if Rose goes down he's more than capable of returning to the starters role. Plus I'm confident Hornacek can maximize his contribution.

Now he's not much of a defensive player, but he can't be any worse than Calderon.

Glad that Jennings has to prove that he is a good fit for the Knicks before getting a deal. I blame Walsh for drafting Jordan Hill when we had Chrix Wilcox, not for passing on Jennings. I remember Jennings talking a lot of stuff, sounding like Marbury, right after we got rid of Marbury. Probably gave the Knicks pause. I believe his efficiency is going to be under a microscope next season by Phil and Jeff. Hope he can deliver. Nice luxury to have him as a backup.

Players are healthy until their next injury. No guarantee DWill will be healthy just because he wasn't hurt last season.

More risk involved, no way around that. Im sure an insurance company executive could explain it better than I could.

Ouch, losing Williams is really really going to hurt. The other guys I can live with.
If we cut Williams we can't offer him that raise. That was our small chance of keeping him.
I'm sure Phil did all he could and had spoken with him anyway. But, I'm sure he would really really like to play here.
Maybe another 1 year deal? Free up some space by trading O'Q for a draft pick...

Nobody wanted Derrick Williams when we signed him. He's probably going to get 10 mill per anyway. We could only offer him 6... let it go. The Knicks will find a capable replacement.... Probably Lance Thomas.

derrick won't get 10 mil per year. 8 or 9, maybe. but not 10. the market is drying up

There's still plenty of teams with plenty of money still to spend so i wouldn't doubt if he gets $10

from who?

Sixers have a ton of room. If Miami matches on Johnson and Crabbe doesn't actually sign offer sheet, Nets have a ton of room and supposed interest in DWill

I have no problem with both... Some are terrified of resigning Rose. If he's playing well Phil will do the right thing. Talent is the most valuable commodity. KP and hopefully Willy are game changers because there is always an eye for the future, but a winning Knick team with veterans and stars is an attractive place to come and play. We should continue to draw quality old guys.. the Iggy's the of the NBA so to speak.

Love the Jennings add. No reason and he can Rose cant coexist long term on the same roster.
