Knicks · Noah should be arrested (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/14/2016 10:00 PM
because he just stole 70mm$

You dont pay that kind of money to a guy who's stats are on the way down like that. Im with Hornacek--let me put a more balanced attack out there.

callmened @ 11/14/2016 10:30 PM
agreed. hes awful. i hated the length of the contract.

can someone post the clip where he SAW barnes about to drive down the lane but didnt have the ability to react to barnes driving down the lane...smh

He will come on a little like Lopez did last year, but the game has just changed so much. KP shouldn't be guarding 4s, melo shouldn't be guarding 3s. Noah is a tough fit in a league that values versatility on both ends of the floor.
SupremeCommander @ 11/14/2016 11:45 PM
I agree
yellowboy90 @ 11/14/2016 11:51 PM
Yes, Noah is slowing down but he has been the Knicks best rebounder and passer so far. The dude just grabbed 18 biards the last game or two. Is it his fault Melo and Kp can't gaurd the 3/4 positions this year. Kp kas been matched up with a lot of former 3s so far this season and on top of that he is still getting fooled on most pump fakes which leads to quick blow buys.

With all that being said I thought the contract was bad because of the years and amount. A 2yr contract would have been much better.

Finestrg @ 11/15/2016 2:30 AM
There were so many WOW moments with Noah last night, and not in a good way. How 'bout the play where he was boxing Bogut out of bounds yet wasn't even looking at the play--even though he was being forced out of bounds, all Bogut had to do was tap the ball to a teammate because Noah wasn't even paying attention to the play behind him. I couldn't believe it. I felt like he had several other plays where he lost focus like that...and then there's Noah on offense--man, I thought we were playing 4 on 5 offensively with Ronny Turiaf in the middle a few years ago, but this guy's worse. I appreciate the effort he gives but I agree--I hate the contract we gave him and said so at the time.

I think a good potential solution would be to activate and play Marshall Plumlee. That kid's hard-nosed and active -- maybe a better overall version of Cole Aldrich. I think he might be able to give us more than Noah on both ends. There's a certain effect we're looking for with Noah in a SL that features 4 other scorers. Let's see if Plumlee has a better chance at providing that effect. I wonder what a Plumlee/Hernangomez tandem would look like full-time -- I wonder if that's our best option to get that desired defense/offense mix in the middle. And speaking of Willy--I really don't know what to think of him up to this point. The minute I think he's got a nice future, he regresses the next game showing subpar rebounding, poor hands, isn't aggressive enough, etc.. Some of it may not be his fault though--like in the end of the game when we had it won, did we have to keep featuring Melo in the post the way we did? How 'bout a steady diet of Willy in the post right there up 15+ instead?? I wish there was a little more urgency to find out what Willy can do in the post--to me, that was one of the better facets of his game that he was showing in all his Euro highlight clips before he even played a game here for us. Overall, before we look at any trades, Euro signings or DL call-ups for help, I'd like to make sure we don't have the solutions for any of our troubles in-house.

Here's some simple things I'd recommend the team do:

• Activate and play Plumlee.

• Demand Courtney Lee play more aggressively on offense. Dude's passing up scoring opportunities out there. Rose, same thing. A lot of these Melo ISO plays develop late in the clock because 2-3 players already passed up opportunities. If we wanna see less Melo ISO, the other guys need to be more aggressive offensively looking for theirs.

• Continue to go with Holiday, maybe even a heavier dose of Holiday now. Real nice 2-way player. He may be the best 2-way player on the team in fact. Great to see him playing well. He had a huge affect in winning this game. Great move starting Holiday over Lee to begin the 2nd half. Reward him with even more PT and more shots now, esp. if Lee's reluctant for whatever reason to step up and play more aggressive. I like how Holiday's always ready to put up shots. I'd actually like to see N'Dour play like that too.

• Overall, I think we'd benefit from a much quicker offensive style--get in our sets much quicker and the first guy who has an open look--PUT IT UP!! Go for a much more aggressive approach offensively with less thinking and less chewing up clock...Remember D'Antoni's SSOL offense he ran in PHX and is probably running in HOU? I think a variant of that approach would do us wonders--maybe a 10-15 SOL approach. Don't let it get to Melo ISO. Be aggressive and attack early in the clock. It would get us more shots up at the basket in the game and get everyone much more involved. Finding a way to get others more shot attempts while limiting our dependence on Melo would help us. I actually think Hornacek would prefer to play this way. Then why aren't we??

• Play N'Dour with Rose on the court, not Jennings. Unlike KP/Jennings, N'Dour/Jennings have ZERO chemistry out there together. I think Jennings with all his bad body language when mistakes are made/when his passes aren't handled hurts N'Dour's confidence big-time -- I've noticed this right from preseason... And encourage N'Dour to shoot the ball more. I feel like he's reluctant to shoot and play a bigger role in the offense. The skills are there. Overall, I think N'Dour has more potential than Lance Thomas on both ends--find a way to realize that potential. Don't give up on this dude, esp. with Thomas out.

earthmansurfer @ 11/15/2016 4:08 AM
Is there a team that can use him? You never know. Veteran players like him can be very important to teams pushing for the playoffs.
I wouldn't trade him just yet as he does give us leadership (I hear)...
franco12 @ 11/15/2016 5:41 AM
I thought we looked so much better with kp at the five.

I hated the deal. I didn't like the Rose deal either, but Holiday could have better upside than Grant.

I think the key is not playing Noah and KP at the same time. Maybe Noah goes to the second unit.

I thought even if he'd lost a step he'd at least provide leadership, install a defensive mindset and passion on his team mates and help KP become a better defender- none of thats happened, which bothers me more than his decline (as I was expecting the decline)

The problem is the teams biggest roster weakness is lack of a true SF, we have basically nothing at the swing spots, Lee thats it. Thats why keeping draft picks is so damn important, you dont have to spend 15 million to fill every roster spot

Crooked Joakim!

Putting aside the contract I'll go on record as a Noah fan

He has the right mindset. Is a leader etc

jH has a o find the right way to use him. I agree posting him up is bad idea

I'll wait another 15 games to see how he works. He is not our problem

As others noted it's our other lapses at D at 3 and 4. Guys need to take some personal pride on D at those positions. Not feeling / seeing that yet except for Lee and holiday

KNICKSdom @ 11/15/2016 7:55 AM
Briggs got this and yes Knicks better with KP at C and Melo at PF. This has to happens to progress forward and make playoffs. Noah ummmn well he's signed up and ummm should just back up KP. That would be great.

Yeah but that means 70 mil for like 16 minutes a game. That's our best option but I'd be surprised if they did it.

Noah looked brilliant against Chicago last week.
Is he hurt? Old? Tired? TrumpBeaten?

It's all about match ups. He is fine against post players one on one. He struggles against centers who thrive on athleticism and activity. Porzingis is better against those types of centers.

All of this is the case...

He started the year hurt and he looks it. He might be too heavy.

As far as match ups, Noah should always start but Horny has got to recognize early when they should play smaller. That's a Knicks strength. To compare, Bogut sometimes was healthy and didn't play some games because of match-ups in golden state... but there are games where he played big minutes and had big contributions

fishmike @ 11/15/2016 8:57 AM
classic one game sample size knee jerk reaction. That being said Briggs did this last year week after week with Lopez and we all know he changed his tune there.

What works against one team doesnt always work against another... Even the Warriors found that out.

Noah hasnt been great, but he hasnt been bad either. His lack of offense has been exposed a few times. Other times he's made teams pay. It may be a guard's league but you cant win without some size either and defense inside.

Chandler @ 11/15/2016 9:31 AM
Briggs, any thoughts on Greg Monroe? Do you prefer R. Lopez now?

give this dude some time. He plays his heart out and that counts for a lot! We need to figure out how to use him; and he needs to find some offensive moves if teams ignore him
